Found this in my morning reading
a snippet:
Age of Conan's big draw with the melee combat is that it requires you to face your enemies while you attack them in real time, using the right mouse button to turn your character. Once you're facing your foes, the Q, E, 1, 2, and 3 buttons allow for five types of attacks -- low and high attacks for the right and left sides, and a forward thrust. You unlock combos as you level up, and an indicator at the bottom of the screen will highlight the combos you have available to use while you're fighting.

Thanks for that man.
That was a pretty good write up. I found this in there too.
If you time your attacks properly, you fight a lot faster, and you can even randomly cause bloody fatalities like beheadings and disembowelment. It's different from the hands-off fighting of other MMORPGs, but the button mashing can be a bit repetitive, and facing your foes definitely takes some time to get used to. If you use magic attacks, your moves are bound to the F1-F8 keys, and these seem to be a bit easier to master but lack the strategy of melee attacks.
Ok, my one problem with this statement is how can using this new melee system be anymore repetitive than the 1,2,3,4,5,6, and 'watching' you guy fight? Sure the new system might be repetitive, but it's hands on and you control your guy this time.
It seems to me that this game will not be for everyone. Alot of people are not going to want to learn something totally new. . .if you ask me people that push this game away due to controls are closed minded. I can see it now though. IGN, Gamespot and all the other review sites are going to bash the controls mainly because it's going to be so different. I just find it impossible to call it repetitive when your old system was not even hands on. . .you just click and press numbers.

Your probably right about those reviews bashing controls. As far as actually using those new controls, I cannot wait. Any system that actualy makes you have to make combos, dodge attacks, and think before attacking is great. I for one am hoping that the combos have a huge variance ie; some monsters will take more dammage from certain combos, then another type that would take less, meaning that you needs to know the best combos for certain situations. And going EVEN further (this is a "i hope" wish) perhaps monsters that evolve and somehow learn the combos and are able to fend them off more, like a smart ai
