Mounted Combat

Haven't really seen mounted combat in a game in a long time. Glad to see there will be in this game.

Few questions:

Will you be able to ride more than horses?(like camels)

Will there be a level requirement to ride mounts?(or just when you tame a mount)

I'm looking to play a lich, I would love an undead mount(Ya, I know, WoW). Is there class specific mounts for some classes? (like a demon mount as well for heralds)

Finally, Will we have combo moves specifically for mounted combat, or combat moves on mounts at all? (all I have seen is attack right or attack left, but I can't tell on just that...)

Human evolution and advancement has never been measured in terms of our ability to grapple one-on-one with bears.

Well, combos on mounts WOULD be nice, but any kind of fighting on a moving mount, would be deemed extremely dangerous and difficult, so if there is some combos for mounted combat, I would hope it is not very easy to get, and takes a while of normal leftt attack/right attack mounted combat before learning a combo.

Well, I do plan on being on a mount a lot. I think I would enjoy that part of the game.

I don't know how a lich would be on a mount though, having to transform and all...

So I think if it did take a while to get combos, I would still work on grinding till I learn them.

    1) Yes you will be able to ride more than horses. So far they have said Horses, Camels, and most likely Mammoths (mainly for sieges). I am also pretty sure we will see mroe than this, they just havnt given us much info in this area.

    2) They have said you will eb able to get a mount probrably by lvl 20, whether that is due to lvl requirement or cost or just availability in the town your in I don't know, but I have heard that you can armor you mounts, so the higher you level the better armor you can get.

    3) SO far no news on class specific mounts, and I doubt there will be any.

    4) Havnt really heard anything about this either, hopefully they will spill the beans on mounted combat at E3 :)

A.) Horses, camels, and mammoths(for siege warfare)

B.) I believe mounts were at level 40 last I heard.

C.) Haven't heard any mention of class specific mounts.

D.) I'm not sure about melee, spells, etc., but there are definitely some combos allowed while on mounts.  Here is the quote I draw this from, so it's vague on anything other than ranged combat.

"It should also be mentioned that rangers are the only class who can used ranged weapons while mounted and they have the opportunity to use combos as well in those situations."

Im pretty sure mounts become available at around lvl 20, not 40

Armor for mounts will sound cool. Don't know how a camel will look in armor though.(Dumb IMO)

Wondering if sword play will be the only fighting on mounts. Anyone know if we can use lances and have a good ole lancing tournament.

I know this is a stretch, but does anyone know what advantages the different mounts give?  Or are they only different visually like WoW?

Heres most what's known about mounts so far:

    - Confirmed mounts are Horses, camels and Mammoths for siege warfare.

    - You can fight on horseback

    - The excistance of combat formations for mounted groups has been confirmed.

    - Mount can be killed off from below you

    - Mounts will be summoned by clicking on a item in your bag.

    - Mounts will be moderately easy to get and available to players early in game.

I do not know anything much about that.  There are different speeds and levels of mounts(having a stable in your city will increase their goodness supposedly), but as to what actually changes with better mounts and different species, I have no idea.

Just to point out, mount don't "die" in the general sense.  They get knocked unconscious.  You don't have to go buy a new mount or anything when it happens.

the feature of attacking while on a mount is cool because in wow if you was stunned on the mount u couldnt do anything and you had to get off your mount before you can even defend yourself.

I wonder if you can cast spells while mounted.

Hi Bean if your new around here its wise to read up first and better to give out the right information. Its level 40 when you can get a mount  and it will be CHEAP - have a read in the questions and answers here - http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/136225

You can do range combat from a mount - whether that includes mage spells I dont know. Whether there are specific combos that can only be done from mount-top I dont know either.

I'm thinking now that the different types of mounts will have their own purpose.

    Horses(Swordplay, basic fighting)

    Camels(Basic travel, no real fighting)

Elephants(Sieging, going to have a new skill ontop the elephant, like trample) Can probably carry more than 1 person as well.

I really don't see using a camel in combat...   would be kinda goofy...

One thing I really hope to see is bow and arrow from horseback. Zelda was one of the only games I've seen do that.

I'm hoping for casting on horseback, since I will be playing a Lich class. Although I think most warriors will be gimped slightly by not being able to do combos on horseback. So, the caster will as well have  to be gimped. Rangers would be gimped by just the trouble they would have with aiming from horseback...

I really hope that being dismounted has a huge stratigicaly bonus to fighting, because mounted combat is cool, but it also opens up the door for quality-less zerg force blitzing onto the battle field.  I feel that in most MMO's with mounted combat, only assisted in those trying to flee a fight.
