I just read an interesting post about guilds interviewing new recruits using voice chat and wondered whether any WAR guilds were doing this? In WOW my guild used vent for raids but nothing else. Do you know if Mythic have added voice chat into the game itself, or will guilds use vent to gain the advantage in big battles?

It would be very handy to see voice being added ingame, but all the games ive seen the ingame voices just are poo to be honest...its always something wiht them.
And using voice u always have a advantage if it comes to teamwork offcourse, besides it gives the game another kinda dimension to play, makes it alot more interesting.
I agree about the advantage in using voice chat, that is why I think it should be a standard feature in the game. Can you imagine a really big open world battle , one guild using vent, the other text chat? T texters would be slaughtered The voice guys would be calling in artillery support on the texters arses!

I'll just stick with vent because the last thing i want to hear is countless people screaming at me in game to heal them >.<

interesting post
stick with vent
The problem with built in voip is the game companies always try to create artificial rules, proximity, only certain groups can hear you, etc. That's the beauty of vent, talk to your friends no matter where you or they are. Now I'm not against voip in mmo's, but if they do assign silly rules to when and how it is used a lot of people are just going to stick with vent.
Vent works
I would rather have the developers concentrating on the game than issues that are solved already by mostly free software.

I know what you mean by mostly free software, but bear in mind that a lot of guilds are paying $20-$40 a month for a vent server. If a MMO like WAR got rid of the need for people to spend that money it certainly would be a big draw to some guilds, at least the members of said guilds footing the bill.
I have been running a vent server for a while and would rather use that than an ingame voice system. Heres why:
1. Speculate how many kids are going to sign up for war. I have nothing against kids, I just happen to hear them talk smack allot and the last thing I need to hear is how the 10 yo in our party "totaly wtfpwnfaced" some player.
2. Will it add lag? yes, it always does.
3. Will vent be used over it because of voice clashing and better sound quality which will pull through in dire moments? probably.
I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, The dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had.
Put in what you like, given the choice most will use vent or TS.
Yes, but only because until now MMOs either had an inferior voice chat built in or didn't have one at all. If the Devs did a proper job of it, it would mean savings (on vent fees) and there is no reason the channels could not be encrypted so that each guild's channel was private.

I voted yes.
It'd be easy to add this feature to the game, so i can save some bucks from the TS server and have not to worry about it anymore.
The WoW guilds interview their incoming members on vent?! Hahahaha! Its getting far more stupid than i thought.
It is a question of fangs.
I've always wanted vent with a passion, I don't know why, maybe because I had the mac version. Anyways I still think Vent or TS would be a lot better. If it was ingame it would probably be a lot like Xbox live chat or something.
If it's done properly, yes. If they just throw it in and it becomes crap, skip it please. All guilds will use Ventrilo to communicate anyway. Voice Chat will be used regardless of if it's in the game or not. If it's in the game it will probably be more commonly used by not only guilds though and therefore the teams will be able to communicate better.
Vent over ingame voice chat.
It is great quality.
It has no limiting factors - such as player distance, etc. (well, aside from server slots).
It can work on PC and Macs, nps (Provided the Codec is Speex).
It allows you to talk to the friends you play with, out of game too.
Sure, it might set your *guild* back 20 a month, but if that is sooo much of a problem, divy the cost betwixt your members (That'd be a right laugh). I'm sure an extra 70 cents or so a member / per month is really going to kill everyone...

The first thing I do when any game has its own Voice Comm., is disable/mute it. Vent has always been my favourite choice (anyone remember Roger Wilco? ^^), and I'm on it almost 24/7.

I'm that rare minority that prefers TS to Vent. But yeah in game VOIP is usually amongst the first three things that gets disabled along with game music. I dunno .. I know it probably doesn't ..but with all the things in games these days that produce lag ..I don't need one more thing trying to squeeze down the games pipeline also. Well that and in the games it has been implemented in (MMO wise) its never worked to well. Vent and/or TS however both function beautifully.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
I never disable game music, but then i like the compositions in the games I've played

I'm not much of a fan of Ventrillo, i use Teamspeak myself.
As far as in-game voice messengers go . . . I'd shudder to think what that could do to the game-servers. I dunno. I don't know much about it. However, Lineage 2 has had MSN Messenger intergrated into its game for over 2 years now. It doesn't have voice-chat in their version, but it still comes in extremely handy. That might be an idea to have in WAR somewhere down the line . . MSN or another messenger.
