Affect it yes, but we were talking about displaying trophies. Would displaying your guild's trophies in a special place really have a detrimetal effect on WAR as some have said? I don't think it would. The chances are it would be a building within the capital city and vulnerable to being sacked like all the others.
Without the race to grind for the best gear and without the end game raids we all used to do once upon a time, the term uber guild really has no meaning in WAR. Number of members will be the only way to show "uberness" in WAR. I don't think we need to fear a WOW like eliteness appearing.

QFT, this sums it up all to good.

    It's simple. It's non-leetkid. And, above all, it's social.
You know, like guilds used to be before WoW
(See pre-everything SWG for a good reference)

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

The problem is they don't want people fighting to defend their guild hall while everything else burns. If it's in a city the fate of your guild hall will be tied to the city PvP objectives itself and not so much the structure. Thus defending your capital city and winning scenarios is more important then defending your tangible guild hall structure.

The main point is that Mythic does not want people on one side of a faction breaking off to defend their "guild towers, halls, fortresses" when the main capital city is being attacked or zones are being taken over in other parts of your factions territory. If there are going to be any sort of guild halls you can damn well expect them to tied into the fate of your faction, capital city and surrounding zones or they will not put into the game at all.

Again they don't want people breaking off into "ub3r l337" clicks of guilds doing their own selfish things in the game and not helping to aid in the fight for your faction. They want to foster comradeship within a faction where everyone is working for the same goals and same rewards that benefits everyone who gets involved in the "big fight".

Again as I said you may see a "guild" type form of housing if it does not take away from the overall encompassing goals of your faction and it encourages people to work together. Of course you sure as hell wont see individual player housing because it'll add nothing to the game and they don't want you playing with your virtual doll house in a game called WAR.

I agree and this is the reason why they will only add in game items/mechanics that encourage people to work together within a faction. There will also be other ways to show off your "guild" such as rewards like WAR banners, earned titles, unique looking items ( not to be confused with "ub3r" eq1-esque raid gear ) for your guild, etc...
