Obviously WAR will be. It has generated a near-insnae amount of hype, it is based of a legendary tabletop series, the company that is making it is known for developing one of the most respected MMOs ever (DAoC), and it has the LARGEST publisher behind the game which has enough marketting money alone to push the game ahead of AION.
Which will be better?
Nobody knows yet as neither one of them are out. WAR may very well flop and AION may very well be the best game ever made, or vice versa. Only time will tell.

well, i kinda agree, even tho I'm for Aion. I just think since Aion development team hasn't been informing us momentarily like WAR has been doin, it woill kinda make some gamers just forget about it even coming out.
Definetly Aion. I'm really curious to see how the living breathing world will respond to the players actions, RvR in which aerial combat actually takes a big part of, 3rd Non - playable factions that his own motives and acts as a true 3rd faction and a theme that is ingelic instead of traditional fantasy. Aion is just much more interesting.
Well im for Aion but no doubt that WAR will be more successful but then again who knows there may just be enough AION fans to put it over the mark but i just cant see it unfortunately.
This is the first I've heard of AION to be honest. At first glance, it would appear to be yet another highly stylized Asian point 'n clicker. Am I missing something interesting about it?

I agree. WAR simply has a large audience before it's even released.
MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan
Yet another ignorant statement... very closed minded comment. You also obviously didn't do much research on the game.
To answer the question though, I'm excited about both games. To be honest I like Aion's art style more than WAR. The world looks a lot more vibrant from what I can see. I am also a big fan of anime. I do like all of WAR's concepts though. I'm not saying the art style is bad... It's good. It's just very similar to WoW (yes I know WC copied WH) and I'm sick of that. The environment definitely reminds me of wow, the characters graphically look better and a bit more realistic. Aside from the way everything looks, I'm gonna have to wait and see which one I like better gameplay wise.
I didn't vote because I really have to try the game to see if I like it. These 2 are the ones I'm really waiting for though. And please, anybody who says "another point and click korean grinding game" why dont you find out about it before you type. It's never good to talk about shit you dont know.
From what my two friends said when they tried it out (and no they aren't in beta...they played it at some game conference) and they said it really reminded them of it being like WoW and DAOC put together...they only played like 20 or 30 min so, but they said it really reminded them of WoW during that time.
I myself don't like the graphic style of WAR...so I voted for Aion, but besides Aion I am also waiting for Darkfall, Tabula Rasa and Fallen Earth.
I saw some kind of aion movie clip/advertisement on on-demand cable last month. The graphics style and world did not appeal to me at all. Not that it matters - I only have time and interest to play one mmorpg and its going to be WAR or Conan.. though probably the former given what I've learned about Conan and its playerbase the past month.

AoC for me I dunno why you haven't got it as an option?
Aion does look nicer imo. No Orcs!
Considering the WAR playerbase tends to take any possible chance to put down anyother game (even if they aren't really interested in it) ( http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/138320/page/1 ) The Aion community has alot more to offer there - all without the immaturity.
I haven't spent enough time checking out Aion to give an honest answer. What I have read sounds interesting, I'm just curious to see how they have it work out. I'll wait to make a call as I'm hoping both are very good, but we'll see.

As a perfect example of my concern with the Conan fanbase, refer to the above. I'm getting too old for this childish nonsense. Grow up Avery.

Agreed. You don't need to be a fortuneteller to know that WAR will sell insanely often during the first week. 200.000 Beta Applicants during the first week, the long-term Nr. 1 Hyped Game here on MMORPG.com (and various other sites), the wonderful and fanboi-laden IP of warhammer in its back... the facts simply state that WAR will be a HUGE initial success. And EA will make sure that no MMORPG Player won't have heard about WAR at release...
I, as fan of Warhammer Games, and WAR in particular also think that WAR will stay a lot of fun for quite some time to come, but that remains to be seen. However, I certainly prefer WAR (partially because I haven't got one little bit of info about AION, or was it that strange game where you play winged Characters who can fly?)

No offence, but its ok for you to put AoC down but its not ok for me to defend it? Maybe if you haven't been around the forums longer you might of seen the "true colours" of some fans...
I read your post and thought "hmmm I would like to counter your point on the playerbase factor" is that not ok for me to do?

Yes, I've noticed the AoC fanboys figured out how to make a lot of throwaway accounts for voting lately. I always check the users that vote 1 for WAR and leave a comment about it being a WoW clone. They always have either 0 posts or close to it. Pure trash. Its so funny that I used to have equal interest between WAR and AoC. Over time that has slowly slipped and now WAR is at the top and AoC is hardly holding interest. Seems to me like AoC is shaping up to have the playerbase that WoW was so well known for. Well they can have the kiddies as far as im concerned.
Check the war fans too who do that aswell mate, im glad Aion isnt like this. If AoC doesn't hold your interest stop knocking it at every opportunity.
I've posted both good and bad things about AoC. I've defended it when it deserved defending, and attacked it when it deserved attacking. Which is what an honest, critical person does. You have posted nothing but good things about AoC, and put down everyone that has a negative opinion of it. This is childish fanboism at its worst and I want no part of it.
This thread was not about AoC. It was about WAR and Aion. The question was which do I prefer. I answered that question and naturally included my 'why'. I'm sorry if your precious AoC ego was hurt by me being honest about my experiences with your 'community'.. But given the way you have treated others when they say anything remotely negative about your game, I can't say as I care anymore. Naturally you can post whatever you like. But you are your own worst enemy if all you know how to do is snap at people that fail to worship the game like you do.
I apologize to the OP for allowing this thread to be hijacked into another crap filled latrine of egotism.
But if they put the Imperator devs on a PvE-server creation, then I would prefer WAR.
I don't plan on purchasing WAR atm, while I do plan on trying AION. Of course, these may changes with the developpment of the games.
As to saying that WAR will be more popular...the initial sells will be, this is sure. However, from there, the games can evolve freely. AION is unlikely to reach 1 million subs, but it could, if the players all love it and keep subscribing and telling everyone...it could increase...similarly, WAR is unlikely to have less then 1 millions subs...however, from there it can crash to a Vanguard level...or rise...this all depend on the game itself and how pleasing/displeasing it is.

WAR. I just can't get over the graphical style of eastern games. I absolutely hate the way they make the male characters always look so girly. If I wanted to play a female looking character then I would just play one. Why would I want to play a metrosexual character? How realistic is it for your male character to look like he spent more time in the bathroom getting ready then practicing with his sword? And yes I think they should make the female characters less sexy looking and more like what an actual female warrior character would look like. Bikini armor is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen.
Personally I don't think an eastern MMO will ever do well in the Western market. At least not unless they change the art style of their games.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too: Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

they should be pretty close.
if the 1st one released flops, the other will be fairly successful.

Perception is Reality.
What's Aoin?
Ohh, another korean grinder port? Fun!
I think they will both be solid games, but War will be more popular. I will prob be playing Aion over War if it turns out to be a descent game though.
