I was wondering if anyone knows if after the current progression servers are complete and up to date with the rest of the servers does EQ plan on doing the progression servers over again? It would be a great idea to try again since this one was quite successful.

I am not sure. Good Question. I will never do progression server again, though.

well, let me tell you what SOE should do. But, frankly, I am not sure I would bother because I am having so much fun in SWG, EQ 2, and vanguard. Well, Iw ould buy the anniversary edition on my station account just to play it for... maybe a month or two.
Here is a Suggested Progression server:
Classic - 3 months
Kunark - 4 to 6 months
Velious - 5 to 6 months
Luclin - 3 months
PoP - who cares! I will probably quit. If I decide not to, then I say a good 6 months.
then, who really cares. Heh.
Ehm. It would need modifications. I think people are going to want to experience the classic dragons again. I would make the instances, and (trust me) classic-purists would APPRECIATE it.

I certainly hope so. There's quite a lot of content I'd like to participate in that I never got to participate in during the first or second go-around.
I think they should start another progression server. If anyone played on the first day of progression you knew how popular it was, until the big guilds got out ahead fairly quickly.
But instead of a progression server. I would love to see Sony "go back in time", and send the game in a different direction after the SoV expansion. Instead of heading to SoL, they could make something all new. Would be cool too see.
The progression idea was a well fought battle for three year before SOE allowed people to have a progression sever. No sooner did the servers go live, the hard cores were hell bent to open expansions as quickly as possible. The economy was soon flooded with high end gear within two weeks along with master trade skill people that were pumping out Qeynos Afternoon Tea and Misty Thicket Picnic Baskets which had stats better than any gear you could buy.

And now the place is almost deserted. There will never again be another progression server in any of Sony's games.

I wonder how many people are still playing?

Well, there is a classic server. If I name it by name I will get banned and the post will be deleted.
But, one does exist, with a fresh economy although the server has been around for a while.
Boycott EA Games. RIP Sim City.
The game doesn't need a progression server.
It need a RAID-free server. Don't cut any option, peoples CAN raid if they care for. But put all the raid loot on the LDoN merchants or other such NPCs or group encounters.
It would never happen, but this is what it would needs. I can already hear the cries from the "loyal fans" over the very existence of this server. ROFL. I wouldn't care and just play there regardless of their empty cries (especially if I could transfer the Anofalye over there). But it wouldn't happen...and of all titles, I would not recommend that it is EQ that goes raid-free on some servers...Vanguard has like no players, so if a SoE product should consider raid-free server, it should be a game that would enrage less raiders (because raiders are silly enough to be enraged about what happen on other servers that are not their own, this is how they are)...and such a game must have less players...which is exactly the case of Vanguard.
See, SoE has 3 medieval-fantasy setting that enforce raiding. If you try a raid-free server, it would be logical to try it on a new release that kinda flop, SWG teach you lessons in life...
But again, I rather see that happen on a NEW MMO then on an existing MMO, since it would have a much better result at release, then as a second though, much later...mitigated results

I'd love a classic server, with classic zones instead of the crappy new ones.
and no-raid should go into effect at SoL and higher
Won't happen, but I'd love it.
