I rather get a response from the comunity rather then IGN and the what not, sometimes those people get paid to give good reviews. So i'll put my trust into the people of this forum and maybe a few other websites
I would say there is more of chance that some fans are paid to make good posts about a game than general game sites. Too much money involved in the overall scheme of things for them to lose their credibility. I don't rely on just one review however since a lot of issues in the se games are subjective. To many paid shills and general trolls out there now to rely on just forum posts. This site has to be about the worst for that sort of thing, over here the better the game the more the trolls attack it.
I rely on trying games before hand. No open beta? No free trial? Game must suck I wont play it.
Dang you must starve then. Using your pattern of thought, when you do groceries, you dont buy anything unless theres a sample. Dude you must weigh like 50 pounds!
Why do people always compare apples to oranges....
Ok with your scenario if all the brands of "oranges" had a free sample, but one...would you buy that one?
I don't like 75% of the mmo's out there so why would I waste money and help promote games I don't like.

Hello Vanguard 2.
Let me first start by saying that I realize your presence here is simply because you feel inadaquate about your own choices and as a result feel a deep seated need to try to get other people riled up. It's that or some other issue that possibly could be solved with medication. If you arent secure enough in your choices (possibly even extended, but not limited to your manhood) then no need to be a "bad" troll. There are so many better ways to get under peoples skins.
Especially when there are actually factual pieces of information floating around:
Jayde
Either way, it's fixed in the "5.2" version internally, pretty much everything being shown by marketing right now is the "5.1" version where the issue still exists. I haven't seen any sliding while playing for weeks.
As a general note for all the animation-related threads: we -do- play the game on a daily basis and are quite aware of all the issues being brought up. Many are fixed already, and the remaining ones are on the list to be fixed prior to launch. Yes, we're redoing the running animation, yes we are redoing the caster dagger animation, and yes we are somewhat speeding up a few of the weapon animations (on a case-by-case basis.) These are all among many other changes on the animators' to-do list.
So, hopefully this will put an end to threads on that topic--or, at the very least, can be copied and pasted around to save us all some time and trouble.
Remeber now, if you are setting out to be a good troll and get under people's skins you need to do a better job. If you have the insecurity issue, take a step back, and really consider where it's coming from, and what other things you are obviously insecure about. First step will be admitting it, next step will be getting help, and when you are ready for it, I'm sure that plenty of folks can point you in the right direction.
I've been telling guildmates for months now, "Don't get to excited about beta, Funcom usualy does very limited beta testing" Now DON'T get me wrong, I think Funcom produces some of the HIGHEST quality games as far as sticking to what they are trying to accomplish. City of Hero's had one of the most sucessful lauches of any game I've played, however CoH wasn't my kind of game, and is VASTLY different from Age of Conan. I just hope their standards for quality are just as high now as they ever where. I'm expecting nothing less, Funcom has never disappointed me. I guess if you build a quality product you don't need to go back and fix and change as much. If your not funcom, and you build a game like Vanguard you have people PAY to BETA test, and call it a release.

I'm confused by the CoH in your post. You do know that City of Heroes/Villains was developed by Cryptic and published by NCSoft, not Funcom. Funcom is the company that released Anarchy Online. NCSoft has AutoAssault, Lineage 2 and GuildWars as well as the City of Games. Personally, I will be waiting until after AoC has been out based on what I experienced with Anarchy Online both in 2001 when it came out and more recently when I tried to play it again a month ago. I kept hearing about how it was improved, how much better it was so I wanted to verify for myself. After having played for 4 hours, I started experiencing all the problems I had back in 2001 including the horrible rubber band lag.
AO still to this day had the worst release I've ever experienced. Until Funcom can prove to me they've gotten their act together, I will hold all judgments on whether or not to play another game developed by them.

I entirely agree with you on Anarchy Online. I was there during beta and release. I saw how long it took them to fix things, and how they really strung the playerbase along. I tried it again myself a few months ago to see where it was at. In less than 30 minutes, I had crashed to desktop 3 times. Outside of the new newbie starting area (which was decent) i ran into a few of the same bugs I remembered from when I BETA TESTED it. I promptly uninstalled it.
People say that Funcom learned and grew from their initial failure. But did they? Just about anyone that puts forth the smallest effort can get something improved after that many years. But not everyone can get it right straight out the door. And thats what the sets the big boys apart from those that just want to play programmer
I'm not saying they havent improved over this time. Just that I would not use Anarchy Online's last few year's as indications of their quality for a game at release time. All they really proved is that they can get a decent game after 7 years.

I played AO LOOOONG after the release (was into other games when it came out and it flew under my radar), and while I cannot speak to beta bugs (and one must imagine if a bug lasted that long it was likely something they COULDN'T fix or they would, some hole in the engine) I never really had much of an issue with gameplay at all except when around a mid-level instance popular with PKers hunting people trying to XP...
But even that lag was pretty bad... I imagine I'd still be playing it if I didn't have a major problem with billing while trying to upgrade my froob account (though it was a problem getting the right client, though that should be some basic shit)
My only hope is that they learned enough, and that they AREN'T Turdbind/SOE/EA

Don't get me wrong, I'm as AoC fanboy as it gets, but he's right. That footage was disappointing. Everything looked really awkward. I hope they do something about it before release.

It has nothing to do with AO, as none of the animation system is even remotely the same code.

If they were going to delay it, they would have done it by now.
They usually push back the release date at least 6 months ahead of time.
