Starting to get pumped about this game

So, I have been reading a pretty darn good book called Troy: Lord of the Silverbow. While it is based in Greek mythos it, of course, had a feel much like what I see in God's and Heroes for their vision of Roman culture. It made me think of how refreshing this will be in MMOs which have been traditionally fantasy based with Elves, Dwarves, etc. There are others out there like Eve and that but I like swords and magic. I just want a bit of a different spin on it. Yes, I know, there was Shadowbane and a few others that had a twist ob this too but they did not last so long or hold my attention for some reason.
The mood and sense of this book (Troy: Lord of the Silver Bow that is) felt heroic and epic with mystical undertones but no elves where running around putting flowers in their hair.
Don't get me wrong. I love fantasy MMOs and am playing LOTRO daily (interupted by some single players stuff like Overlord (great fun)and rehashing my way through Titan Quest (the Greek/ Roman version of Diablo for those who do not know).
Then I read the walk through at Game Radar and really started to like this game even more.
I sure hope that this game delivers what is promised. If so, it will be a great departure from the typical fair while adding some cool new features like your personal camp, the minions (which seems distinctively better than what was done in GW), and the cultural elements.

Probably would be a good idea to read up on the game in their main forums, with core testing heating up and a lot of info flying around now, the devs must be gearing up for something. But there are also a handful of really helpful community members there who are pretty quick to answer questions and all that.

Thanks, I have been lurking a bit over there but not posting. The game is certainly interesting enough that I will give it a try. It looks like fun to me.
The take on the Roman mythos should be a fun change to the standard fantasy creatures and races!

I like that the game is going in a different direction from the standard fantasy/medieval setting. The more I find out, such as the paired animations, the minions, end game content based on groups of 5 players with 4 minions each, the more excited I have become.

Yeah! Me too. I am actually looking forward to these PVP aspects. The last time I got hyped up over PVP was the RVR stuff in DAOC.
seems like a fresh twist on the game genre. I will check it out.
I'm hoping this game will be a pretty good mix of Roman mythology and history. If they hold true and the game is a success there will be tons of fun options for expansions!
And if it's not, I'll probably still have fun playing a game that does NOT involve elves/dwarves/gnomes etc (as was stated many many times before). From what I've seen and heard, this seems like a solid game with a bit of a twist on what everyone has been stuck with in an MMO. I'm up for gathering my minions and fighting for the good of Rome.
