*sigh*   pessimism, oh how i hate you . Just because you do not like the game does not give you the right to trash talk it before it has the chance to show if it is really worth the money invested into it. And people here, you should never even consider if he was a AoC fan, if he hates WAR; let him hate it, but it doesn't make him an AoC fan boy off the bat. And stop with the Grammar nazi, its annoying as any hype for a game can get.

BTW: i have to aggre it won't kill WoW but it'll sure take away its PvP base players , so i'm gonna take a rough guess of 1.5million peeps will be playing this game by the end of next year . Now i believe it'll kill WoW if it has a strong PvE side to contribute to the PvP side as well, if not; it'll only work "with" instead of kill it.

milion players. lmao you guys need to learn how numbers work. and how big 1 million is.

I think WAR and AoC are both going to do quite well. I think they both may steal some players from WoW and the three games will share memberships. I don't forsee another dominant MMO until the next step is truly taken. (something VR like)

Okay lads and lasses, I got this one.

1 million is 10 raised to the power of 6.

1 million is quite a lot, but not as much as could be.

There were 281.196812 times 1 million people in the United States according to the year 2000 US Census.

Okay, that's just a start.  Let's go deeper.

1 million = 944019 items from your local McDonald's value meal menu (based on an average sales tax of 7%)

1 million is most likely the number of totally unsubstantiated claims you have made on various forums about games you have never played.

1 million is the exact opposite of the number of times you've ever or will ever score with a sexual partner that you did not have to drug first.

1 million is how many times larger my IQ and penis size are than your own.

Final thought:  It's a harsh and nasty world out there and that is very probably why we spend our time online playing simulations of a life we wish we could live but realize that we'd have no chance of surviving.  It's not healthy, but what is?  We should all try and be a little more understanding of each other and maybe ourselves.  Perhaps that is the real problem: self loathing.  I know that my personal hope is that WAR succeeds but does NOT draw away large numbers from WoW.  Why should I wish ill upon the game of WoW simply because I personally do not like it?  And frankly I don't want those types of people mucking about in my game.

This situation calls for a judicious application of elemental psychology and extreme violence

Vagr, do not lower yourself to his level, there is no point into it.

Hey, I think the guy is talking out of his ass too, but lets be realistic: Its just impossible to have -1,000,000 sexual partners. How do you have negative partners?
  • sirespersiresper Member Posts: 317

I suppose if you are your own partner (flying solo) that could be considered a negative partner. Its the opposite of having a partner.

Well.. it makes sense to me anyway.

Hahah, you gave me a good laugh, cheers for that

You do know that WAR will release Q1 08-Q2 08, right? You do know that this is months away, right?

Sorry.  The emphasis should be on the drugging/daterape aspect.  Such as, 1 million partners that you've had to drug or daterape, but it didn't come out that way.

I should have added:  1 Million is the upgraded version of the old Celtic/Britonic/Anglo-Saxon term 'fifties' wherin everything was measured in 50s regardless of the actual number.  Such as, "And Cu Chulain did slay three fifties of men." meaning 'quite a bloody lot.'

    notice the title: "Prediction."

It is his opinion, and he has the right to excercise it. I personally, hope for the best for WAR, and will definatley play it upon release. But, I definatley won't be surprised if it IS a flop. SO MANY games have made promises they couldn't keep. *cough*Dark and light *cough*

Once again, I wish for the best for WAR, but the original poster of this thread has opinions too, and he can excercise them as with everyone else on these forums.

  • BryanBoitonoBryanBoitono Member Posts: 199

I agree with the post above me. I hope that WAR wont flop, and there are plenty of points at which it COULD fail. Any mmo can release an expansion down the line and ruin the game (How about PoK for EQ anyone? Anyone?) or fail to remove the bugs making the game "promising" and not "Fun, good, entertaining".(vangaurdwtf?)

However, I assume the OP was trying to just create a flame war. And those of you who responded "WTF!!! WHOCARESWHATYOUTHINK NEWB!!!111oneone lawlawlawl go back to AoCfanboyz+1 forums." just fueled the flame.

WAR will definately beat AoC in subscriber numbers.  Why? Because of it's system requirements and performance.  Every MMO game that has high requirements does badly, just look at EQ2 & Vanguard.  I'm not saying it's the sole reason, but their system performance was a major factor.  I do have to say that LotRO handled the system performance really well also, but  AoC will be DX10, and how many gamers even have Dx10 anyway?

I predict that WAR will have at least 200k+ subs though, just look at the recently released MMOGs.  All less than 300k.

WAR will not be PC heavy like EQ2 was at release.Vanguard was just plain stupid and that is more to do with the whole engine being broke.I will say to anyone thinking WAR will be a pc friendly as WOW might be in for a surprise once they get 400+people all in one place.

My guess at min sys requirements...

2.0ghz-1gig ram-dx9c-2.0 shader graphic cards..these specs are not a lot to ask of gamers these days.

    WAR IS COMING

If 200k+ sign up for beta in 10 days its going to be like 500k-1mill sub live.

  • EridanixEridanix Member Posts: 426

It will be not a WoW killer, but a  great game at its own. I'm not a prophet myself but searching for the fansites and guilds that are formed yet before release and up to date you can calculate 450k+ subs more or less for the launch. Its own fanbase can fulfill these numbers w/o stealing them from WoW or LotrO.

Plus many people that will come to the game after the reviews, actual player comments and so on. Well, we get high numbers again.

Yes, this is a saga yet.

It is a question of fangs.

This is of course assuming mythic doesnt see a bust with IP or anything. Im just nervous because GW is VERY protective of its world and now that you have a 3rd party in the situation things COULD get ugly. But if they deliver what they have promised then the game will be cooler than the other side of the pillow.

While I agree that GW is very protective with their IP, they are also not exactling raking in the cash at the moment. Because of their rather shoddy management and terrible treatment of their playerbase (not to mention their massive over-investment in a game no one at all is playing, namely LotR) they've had some serious business problems. 8% of their stock was liquidated in one day this spring. They've had to revise downward their financial outlook, and they are having to lay off employees and close stores (two out of four stores closed in Massachussets alone, with a third teetering on the brink).

The point of all this is that they are probably willing to be a little less harsh with something that I'm sure they hope, rightly or wrongly, to be the next "lightning in a bottle".

Personally, I'm totally fed up with the archaic game mechanics of the tabletop game (moved on to WARMACHINES) but I'm very excited for WAR.
