Unable to expand? Then is dead in a few months...?

Well, as I have stated in some other thread, I think the main problem with AoC is that is designed to fulfill the Xbox360 players capabilities, though its first released to PC, then it comes a matter of evidence that they cant launch expacks, as it would take the console players off the track. I know you all hardcore gamers and know that are able to hit high content in some weeks and get tired of it in three months w/o expacks containing more nations and new content to the game.

Then, how long will AoC remain alive?

It is a question of fangs.

Ofc there will be expansions/updates. The Xbox has Harddrives so i dont see a problem.

Yea i dont see much of a problem with this (however i would have much rathered seen AoC on PS3 buuut hehe).

FF7 did a pretty decent job with PC vs Console gameplay (ps2 had to have a hard drive).  The graffix on the ps2 vs the console were not much to look at but hey.

the xbox is limited on this console just as FFXI. You have to have a Hard Drive to play. The game saves to your hard-drive like any mmo on you PC and you play. Xbox 360 owners will more then likely want to invest in the 120GB hard drive if they get this game because it will take up most of the memory on the standard hard drive. Xbox 360 doesn't limit this at all. Look at Oblivion the Knights of the Nine is a Downloaded Expansion for the 360 unlike the PC where u can goto the store and purchase it.

I don't see how they can create an MMO and not plan for any expansions. That would be the biggest waste of time and $$$. Hopefully they aren't that foolish.

This was the most confusing post I've ever read.  I think you're referring to FFXI? And graphics on the ps2 versus the console makes absolutely no sense. haha.

Same with the comment about FF9.  FF7 and 9 were both single player RPGs. :p

And even if it wouldn't have Harddrives, couldn't you just release an expansion DVD, which contains both the Main Game PLUS the AddOn, to AddOn Price, but with only an AddOn Serial Number, which doesn't work if your Account hasn't a Main Game Serial already?

Can't see why COnsole Gamers shouldn't be able to have Expansions either...

What I would more worry about is how the Plan of making it COnsole-Friendly already changed the Production of the PC Product (with different Controls or Gameplay for example, to make it easier to transport the Game onto a Console)... While we're at that: Are you able to play AoC with a Controller on X-Box? Or is a Keyboard+Mouse mandatory? (I hope the latter, because otherwise... well I'm no controller Game fan, too simple)

xbox360 is capable of downloadable content. For Example...there was a new downloadable content for Oblivion that has recently been release. Cant remeber the name though...but i do know it gave me land to explore and ect..

  • beauxajbeauxaj Member Posts: 245

Well, you have to understand that they already are able to release expansions for consoles, one that should pop into your head immediately is oblivion and its expansion the shivering isles.  The same will more than likely be done for AoC. one difference will probably be the pricepoint though. Pc games and expacs run from 29.99 to 49.99 while 360 games run from 49.99-59.99.

Pretty sure he is talking about FFXI there. The problem with that game was that they made it for the ps2 and then later on for the pc which I'm sure is the reason why they never updated the graphics nor added anything that would require more than what the ps2 was capable of, even if they wanted to update the pc version, it would have been unfair for those playing it on the console. This is why mmorpg's should be pc only simply because they can be upgraded while consoles can't.

Eventually, the exact same thing will happen with AoC, although it all comes down to which of the two Funcom will have on top of their priority list.

Of course they will ha ve xpacs and they will be able to launch them for the PC and xbox 360.  I mean come on think for a second they even had an xpac for halo 2 which had more maps and what not for the PvP so why couldn't they do similar things for the a MMO on it.

Unable to expand - wtf? matter of evidence - wtf?

I read that the future of pc mmo's may come in the form of private leased servers that the players/clan can mod the way they want.It would cost less then $5 per month total to play, and everyone gets their type of server.

    Okay...

Let's see the evidence that there cant be expansions. I sure hope it's better than what you just posted.

(Just a tip, you might want to let Funcom known this, I'm sure they'll be surprised to hear it, and probably very grateful to you for letting 'em know.

  • DistasteDistaste Member UncommonPosts: 665

The thing about the xbox360 development is that they lock themselves into a development corner. The Xbox360 hardware is now outdated(assuming your playing on a newer DX10 ready PC) so they have to program around that. Of course this won't affect PC players since they can just upgrade. Xbox players however will be stuck with a basic sub-version of the game. If I remember correctly the 360 runs an upgraded DX9 with DX10 features. So in essence the game will be expand with content but for the 360 its technology will have to remain the same.

What the hell? Why are people posting threads like this?

Of course its going to be updated, and I could bet real cash that Funcom will release expansions if this game goes well. Funcom one way or another is going to get around big problems like this, they arent a dumb company.

Really, the game isnt even in open beta yet...lol

  • FE|TachyonFE|Tachyon Member UncommonPosts: 652

I don't see the problem.   LIKE all other major Expansions, You'll have to buy it, and with it a NEW CD containing the data it would need.

Hey hey im not a WAR fanboy, i like AoC a lot and just was wondering about as I worried the game was too pointed to console players and their limitations. It's good to know AoC will have expansions.

Just I had a bad feeling.

It is a question of fangs.

Yes but I think your title is way wrong for the thread, and completly misleads people. You really think the game would be dead in a few months? come on.....!

Because the game is foremost a PC game it will never have any problemswith expansions, XboX players will just have to do the same as PC players. No issue, No problem.

very misleading post instead of Uable to expand? then is dead in a few months. u shoulda asked about it. instead of assuming that their will be no expansions for it. thats what causes people to be ignorant and read what u wrote and believe it.
