What can I say, I'm terribly addicted and everything sucks after a certain point of time. This time it was CoH that got old, and it was one of the last good p2p games that I have not played.
I played all of them except L2 and FFXI (Yes I know I should get a life).
I liked WoW (equivalent to "I like most MMOs?"), EVE, and CoH, but the latter had too little stuff in it. You could say I liked SWG too but it was so long ago that my mind could be playing tricks on me. I'm at the moment waiting for the next haul of (what should be) great MMOs, like AoC and PotBS.
So, L2 or FFXI?
Edit: Oh, and I have not tried DAoC yet as well.

Umm, I'd really like some help here
And another thing, it's important that the game's community is active, big, and cool. I don't like dead MMOs, they make me sad.
Try LoTR or EQ2 both have free trials.
Tried EQ2... but didn't try LOTR :O
I can't seem to find a trial for it though, could you direct me to wherever it is please?
I have heard FFXI still has an active player base at all levels (thanks to their Job system, no doubt). I don't know much about L2. I do know that both are very grind-oriented, with L2 being slightly more so.
FFXI was able to hold my attention for quite a while when it was first released in the US, and I suspect it is even better after so many expansions. You never hear much about Lineage 2, which may imply that it is a little stagnant.
Well I played both L2 and FF 11 a very long time ago, so the question is, which kind of grind do you want? I was a level 39 plains hunter? in L2 and totally forgot what class i played in FF but remembered i only reached level 18 and was a melee class...But in FF you rely more on grouping than soloing whereas L2 you can basically solo throughout all levels...Graphics wise I think both kinda look the same, they have beautiful worlds no doubt there...I enjoyed playing both games they are very fun...I liked the quests more in FF though, its really in depth and exciting...Even at lower levels you needed to group to get some done...L2 quests are somewhat ok, very easy and soloable, you're more independent and travel far from the town you picked up the quest and finish them fairly quick...
But thats what I could only remember, I played both games for over 4 months (although I had less time playing FF 11) One of the good things I liked about both games was that you had sub classes you can branch off of and learn different moves and playstyles...Thats one of the things I like about those kinds of MMO...
Did you try Vanguard? If you like the HUGE sandbox fantasy world feel, and do not want to follow a forced-linear path to level-up, you might really enjoy it.

WoW and fast food = commercial successes.
I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
