K2Networks is a HORRIBLE company that might put NP3 to shame.

So K2Networks released Sword of the New World today and are already trying to scheme people out of money.

1st They are actually selling the boxed version for a game that was originally meant to be free to download.

2nd They are releasing Pre-Release copies of the game 2 days after the launch.  The people that trusted the company enough to pre-order get shafted and are forced to use the free2play version until they get theres.  What makes this worse is that the free 2 play version is capped at 20, and they are offering to buy the game directly off the site for an additional $20.  This is a real slap in the face to the fans of the game.

Then there are all the horrible things they did to the game.  They implemented thier "Anti-Hack" software that eats more resources then the actual game, and doesn't actual prevent hacking.  It only prevents people from creating macros using macro-creation software.

They also tried to fake an actual character customization system by using a far more limiting system.  They allow you to choose a costume at the beginning of the game that may even include end-game versions.  Which makes noobs look too uber in many opinion.  The costume is also permanent in that you cannot change your appearance until you actually make it to the point where you can buy more costumes in the game.  For most classes its level 72.  Before in the game your look would change every 4 levels, now your stuck in the same clothes for 71.

In Gameplay they slowed down the attack speed in order to create a time sink, and they also increased exp rates passed what it is in other versions.  They are making the North American version the Grindiest version of all which makes absolutely no sense.  Ontop of this the slow swinging speeds is boring to look at.

I love Granado Espada, but stay away from K2Networks.  Thier version is appauling to the actual game.

    Granado Espada Singapore

Problem is they are in Singapore, so lag will be bad.  Also no gauruntee you won't be IP banned in the future.  Also probably cannot pay for premium shop items.

This is no revelation. All item shop games suck. If you want a quality product and a fair level playing field, choose a subscription based MMOG that is anti RMT.

The trick is finding one that actually does something about it. They all claim they are anti - RMT but very few, if any, CONSISTANTLY back it up.

OP, K2 is a dog company, it ranks right up there with SOE IMHO...its to bad, I liked GE.

K2 is quite well known for their poor running of games. To put it into perspective, over at the BBB, K2 Network has an F rating, which is the worst a company can get. They say F means:

"We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices."

    Can't get much worse, huh?

Like I said from the beginning, K2 being behind SOTNW is, and will continue to be, it's downfall. Fortunately, as Cleffy has pointed out above, the REAL Granado Espada is available for all to play.

And since K2 relies on everyone being convinced SOTNW is a totally different game than GE, it is very unlikely GE will ever become IP locked. K2 would have made damn sure it was, if they had any say in it. Since there are no lockouts, I'd say K2 has no ability to get that done.

Okay, lets clear a few things up.

First of all, originally meant to be free to download? Originally by who? Are you basing this in the korean model? The korean payment model works totally different then ours, and a lot of high profile korean MMO's use the box system to distribute the game. Lineage 2? Same thing. ArchLord? Same thing. RF Online? Same thing. Aion is probably going to use it as well.

the release seems to have more to do with the shipping to stores then K2 network. Some already own a copy, some don't.

Their anti - hack software eats more recourses then the actual game? I think you might want to check if your computer is okay, because that is definetly not the case here (I just checked, SotNW uses A LOT more recourses). Xtrap doesn't use a lot of recourses at all.

About the customization, that would be a lose - lose situation anyway. There is only so much you can do as a publisher, and this was probably the only way to add customization to the game. If they didn't add it, tons of people would have complained that there is no customization. If they did add it, people would do exactly what you're doing right now.

I did notice an increase in XP gain, but I did not notice any change in attack speed at all, and I played all other GE versions.

WTH are you talking about?  There is no scam here at all and you are twisting the truth to make it seem wrong.

What's wrong with having a box version?  Almost every game has a box version you can buy at a shop.  It's another retail point of sale to get the game out to customers.  A lot of people like having a physical disc and manual.

The game IS free to download.  Anyone can go download and play it right now.  Until you get a subscription, it's a trial that lets you play to level 20.

If you chose, you can download the game and order the subscription from the website (along with a month play and other stuff).  But the download is almost 4 (FOUR) GIGABYTES.  Not everyone can or will download the game.

There is no scam.  No matter who it is, you pay $20 for the subscription (which comes with a month of play).

I don't know about K2's past, but from what I've seen so far, it's handling SoTNW quite well.  Time will tell.
