It seems the most accurate WoW bashing threads with the biggest, and most honest slams against WoW and Blizzard ALWAYS gets deleted ? Last night I logged on for only a moment and seen that someone had posted very solid points against WoW and the thread was very heated and many agreed with the OP. When I saw the thread it was only like an hour old, but had a whopping 130 posts or so.
Today, as with any good WoW critisizing thread, it is nowhere to be found. No big surprise here, but makes one suspicious of either a) moderator WoW fanboism or b) Blizzard paying this site to lose such threads.
It just seems that EQ or UO or AC can have posts slamming the hell out of them and they are accepted by the sites moderators, however whenever WoW is slammed with the most solid and accurate points, it suddenly gets deleted.

Not agreeing with you, just to be clear.
But you make an interesting observation. I will find it interesting to see if this thread gets deleted because a) its 'flaming' b) it attacks the integrity of MMORPG.com and Blizzard simultaeneously or the far more likely c) it makes people think, and has the slightest chance of altering a biased view.
The ultimate solution to every problem: more space marines.
I sense this thread disappearing shortly.
I'd hide if I was you.
I have no doubt that if people were civil and clearly stated their arguments it would stay.

Actually, you can slam the living hell out of Vanguard.
But... do not touch WAR. The ads and the over-hype of LotR is very telling as well.
Boycott EA Games. RIP Sim City.

Okay, I can understand that. But something tells me that the OP of that thread was probably banned unfairly. As far as I read, he made valid points as to how WoW has ruined the mmorpg genre in his view and made more-then-convincing arguments. Then these threads (especially the good ones against WoW) are flooded with screaming mad WoW fanboys who curse, whine, cry and call names. Then the whole thread gets deleted and the OP gets banned or whatever instead of mmorpg.com simply deleting the individual rule-breaking posts themselves typically made by the angry wow fans.
But this seems to only work this way for World of Warcraft threads. Other threads are worked in a different manner it seems, and only the offensive posts are deleted. If a WoW thread gets heated, then they simple delete the whole thread, regardless of how much solid, good, and unoffensive content is contained within it.
So yes they can delete this thread too, and ban me or whatever. But I'm calling "definate WoW bias" on this site. I call it like I see it.
I dunno guys, seems like every thread I see has various game-bashing in it. I see WoW getting smacked around all the time, and LoTR as well. In fact, pretty much every thread has bashing in it. Start a thread about how fried chicken tastes really good and I promise you the fouth post down will be:
WoW sucks, you guys are posers!!!! LoTR is crap too!!! Why don't they pull the plug on WAR, no one plays it!!!! Your father smelled of Elderberries! And then something in French about a Cow ?

Well, I didn't see the thread so can't comment on it's content. Can you perhaps point to a similar thread that has gotten as heated where the thread wasn't closed down and the OP wasn't "banned"?
I've read some of these "Wow Bashing" threads and have seen that both sides get a bit more heated than is needed.

It has nothing to do with WoW and mmorpg.com conspiracy, its because game bashing threads usually end up with about 2-3 people flaming and mmorpg.com is very much against it so they rather stop the madness by closing the thread
this website is designed to get as many people reading as to maximize its profits from adds as possible. the bulk of mmorpg customers play wow and are wow fans, if they come here and see posts slamming their game they wont like it, in effect its also insulting them, as such they are less likey to browse these forums/website and will go elsewhere. simple as that its like reviews for big games on certain websites gamespy etc, they may lie about their true feelings of a game just to make their readers happy, they want to be told their game is good, and if you say differnet they wont like it. probaly have to browse a less draconian forum and one run by fans, as such this post will probaly be deleted, there you go the mainstream has the stranglehold on the market.
If this site was flooded with WOW fans, the game would be rated higher.
Having some forum moderation experience I can make a guess...
Moderators are not in abundance and have to greatly realy on reported posts. WoW has more players than any other MMOG. Thus WoW has more haters and more fanboys than any other MMOG. Thus more people read a thread about WoW than about any other MMOG. Thus the chance of someone reporting a WoW thread getting out of hand is higher than for any other MMOG's threads. Thus the chance of a WoW thread being brought to a moderator's attention is higher than for any other MMOG.
Also, moderators may also spot threads upon reading the forums as usual. More players play (or have played) WoW than any other MMOG. There's no reason to doubt that the MMOG interest and experience among moderators reflect the general community. Thus, an average moderator is more likely to read WoW threads (and the WoW forum) more than other threads (and forums). Thus they may spot WoW threads getting out of hand more easily.
Perfectly natural. Really.
What can you do to even it out? Start reporting the threads concerning other MMOGs that ought to get moderator attention.
First of all, MMORPG.com does not have any kind of "conspiracy" or agreement with Blizzard to "lose" threads that attack the game. I read many posts on this site every day, and quite frankly, many of them are slamming WoW in one way or another. It happens every day and as long as it doesn't break our rules, we don't delete it.
I am not sure to what post the OP of this thread is referring to, and I don't have enough details to investigate, but I suspect that if it was indeed locked or deleted, there was a reason. Sometimes, a thread becomes so full of flames and trolling that it just can't be salvaged and is deleted. Perhaps that was the issue here. It is also possible that the thread, like this one, was posted in the inappropriate forum.
Now that we've put this conspiracy nonsense to rest, I wanted to say that we do indeed have a staff of volunteer moderators who are, quite frankly, over-worked. As in anything, mistakes do happen. I'm not saying that's the case here, but I am saying that it does happen.
The bottom line here is that if you have a problem with the moderation on this site, you can email our Community Manager, Laura Genender, at community@mmorpg.com. She will investigate the issue. That's a much more effective way of dealing with an issue that you may have than coming into the forums and needlessly calling this site's integrity into question.

I have to disagree with the OP. Most of these WoW bashing threads are just the same thing over and over again. Once these things get on a role everyone jumps in and starts saying the same thing over and over and over and over again. Every post is I am so smart and I desearve a game for smart people. WoW is played by the cattle of the human race who follow blindly and like everything easy. Once you have seen this over and over and over again enough is enough. I fully endorce threads like that being deleted even in there are one or two posts that may have something new and useful to say.
If y'all would stop talking about WoW, SOE, etc. etc. It wouldn't happen. Why? 'Cause you ain't talking about it. I would like this.
Because bashing a game is against the forum rules. It is unproductive and only seeks to poison the atmosphere of the forum and the community.

I just want to say that I agree with everything this guy wrote. Nice post.
Can I get you to delete this post now that....LOL
/sarcasm on
But it is so much more fun to attribute every evil in the world to conspiracies. The Illuminati did it, the left wing liberals are behind it, the Gnomes of Zurich are the ones pulling the strings, the unholy trinity consists of M$/Sony/Blizzard this week. Next week it will be another group of 3 companies that are successful.
/sarcasm off
I myself think the posts get deleted from the GENERAL forum because there's a WORLD OF WARCRAFT forum where you should probably be putting all your whining.
That's just my observation though.
Ummm.... Ok lets start with a valid point.
1) WoW is a good game. It holds *THOUSANDS* (Millions?) of people at once. This statistic really sets the bar.
And now, a counter point.
2) WoW's game mechanics are very simple, and lean towards a larger audience, rather than the experianced, MMO veterans of old. This means while more working fathers (for example) are attracted to the seemingly 'casual' gameplay of WoW.... it attracts a much less... mature... crowd as well.
Theres an example of how the threads go. Really. With the occasional WTFBBQ N00B REROOL IRLIMHO!!!!!!!chevy!!!!!1111112
The posts on this site really arent that bad.
OH! and this post belongs in general. It is addresing the forum policies of MMORPG.com, not the quality of WoW.
**Edit** didnt realize I was going head to head with the editor... but I stand by what I said.
The ultimate solution to every problem: more space marines.
not really something I think about. even if it were true, I still wouldn't care really.. I just play games if they are fun.
lol bye everyone ima go say lol now XD if you saw this this is my last post of all time and ima slam that WoW never
"i have a lvl 26 maplestory warrior lvl 9 asda story archer and a adventure quest mage lvl 15 and my xfire is my bro's"
its not a conspiracy but they do delete threads left & right if it bashes any game and they will indeed find a reason to ban the original poster based on 'trolling' whether or not they flammed anyone wont matter
Left and right? Or right and left? As someone with a bit of experience posting on these forums, many of them critical of certain issues I've had with different games, yet only twice have I been moderated, and never had a post deleted.
It doesn't take a lot of work to avoid writing your posts in such a manner that moderators feel the need to delete your post, or even the entire thread.
There's no dark conspiracy here, and while some folks in this thread decry what they feel is heavy handed moderation, many other posters feel they don't go far enough in deleting excessive trolls and flames.....

Nothing wow haters can say will ever be original. They can scream till they are blue in the face about wow ruining mmorpgs, or how it's terrible. It's the same thing over and over.
If it's "new and insightful" then you just don't go to forums very often.
How come almost every WoW bashing thread with solid valid points against WoW gets deleted?
Because we've already heard SEVERAL times before and we don't want to have to sift through it again. Seriously, is there some kind of fucking law that states that someone has to bitch about WoW every God damn thread?
I could start a thread discussing the pros and cons of the combat system in AoC or the economy of Eve and some asshat will jump in with some random crap about how WoW sucks. We know it's not for hardcore catasses so get over it already!
.....
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.....
