Information for a Potential New Person

I am currently looking for a new game to sink my teeth in to, and was curious to get the opinion on a few things from those who have been playing this game for a while.

1) From a content perspective, how you would you rate this game?  Is there plenty to do?  And how much of it can you do solo -work doesn't always allow me time to find groups.  And when you get to endgame and begin to sink your teeth into all the heroic stuff I have read about (increased difficulty, elite skills etc), how much of that is solo work and how much requires a group?

2) In order to get the breadth of content, is it advisable to get all the expansions at once, or just one, particularly if you are interested in particular classes?  i see that new classes are introduced in some of the other standalones like nightfall/factions and so I assume you have to purchase those to play the classes?

3) Any other tidbits I ought to know before sinking my hard earned money into this?

Much appreciated, cheers.

i have been having problems, with online games for a bit, bored with them all realy, went back to eve, got bored, tried, vangaurd, thought it lacked everything, played planetside, a lot over the last few years and will still play it from, time to time, tried eq2 and thought although ok, it was dated, but still a good game,

this just to name a few,  being playing wow, for about 18 months now, and the new patch, just put me right off,

well i looked at nightfall a few weeks back, and thought,  well no online payment, so for the price of the game, what have i got to lose

i realy cant make out , why i aint played this before,  i,m finding it so much fun, if i cant get a group, chuck in heanchmen or hero,s ,, ncp players,  the pve seemed strange when i started, but now i find it fast and fun,  it seems like its not about , my sword is bigger than yours, , but more about game play,

i have even got the other two games  now and have a char on each, just to see the other games, i,m far from bored, and even nightfall, as ment to be the smallest game, i think i seen 10%, of it in the last few weeks,

i have watched, pvp battels in the watch mode thing, and they realy look, good, and go on for ages, pvp looks very balanced, and fast as well,

i think everyone should have a look into this game, coming form wow,  i,m just  amazed i can lvl, and not do the wow grindfest, that i was used to,

the story is great, in nightfall, and i hope the other games that i started are just as good,

to sum it up as a noob in this game, i think the graphics are well nice,  the game runs nice,  and my pc aint great, the game plays  very smooth and. seems well thought out, the story line roxs, pve seems well sorted, and pvp althought , i have yet to try it, looks balanced and good fun,

these are my poimts, and for the price of the game with no sums, i think everyone shold try this at some time, if your into, mmorpg.s

i realy hopes this helps, i was losing faith in only games, but this game has realy got me back into them again,

1.Ive been playing this game off and on  from the start and haven't finished 3/4 of it yet, content is definately there if you want to solo, it will become a challenge further in the game but with henchmen (NPC helpers) the right build and some skill its possible to get far without a group.  Cant say about end game.

    2.  Personally I havent found the need for any of the expansions since I dont PVP and havent completed the main content in the original.  From what i hear the expansions dont have as much content  as the original and are only really worth getting if youre interested in another class or to get all the possible skills to become competative in PVP. But if money isnt a problem then of course get all of them,  I can pass and will wait for GW2.

Well since there are three Guild Wars games out atm I assume you are talkign about the first Guild Wars game (prophecies). Prophecies has tonnes of content. You can do plenty of the game without groups but I advise you join a guild asap in that who'd help you on the hard missions and to get you through the game faster.

Basically if you want to make any of the core classes an Ele, Ranger, Mesmer, Warrior, Monk or a Necromancer then get prophecies. If you want to make an assassin then yea you need to purchase factions.

Prophecies is the oldest, so it's not the most populate but then again you might not want to see the horrendous spam in Kamadan (nightfall) *cough* which could put you off guild wars entirely. Just read fully on each of the classes and read about all three games before you purchase but I do not recommend you purchase all three as if you don't like one I doubt you'd like any of the other two.
    Much appreciated, cheers.
If you do decide to purchase any of the games just PM me and I'll come on GW and help you out whenever I can ;).
