Worth coming back? SWG or CoV!

malfarionmalfarion Member UncommonPosts: 25

Dear mmorpg.com community, I once played Star Wars Galaxies (Pre-CU, Pre-NGE and NGE) and managed to play it for a rather long time, were I actually liked it (of course I would rather have it pre-nge).

But I stopped due to moving, and havent played it for a good long time.

The same applies for CoV, I liked it, played it but got to a point were I was alone (grindfest + solo = boring, and I stopped playing due to lack of cash on the credit card).

Now I am giving once chance, but it have to be one of these two games, either SWG or CoV! could you please recommend any of them? or should I stay away from them?.

I have played MMO(RPG)s for a long time, and I have played many several of them, such as Vanguard, LOTR, WoW etc.

I loved the player housing in SWG, but I love the character customizing in CoV, could you point out which got something interesting?

So please tell me some points of the games that I can use to pick out what game I should start playing again.

~Thank you, Malfarion.

I started playing CoV a few weeks ago and am enjoying it.

CoV is a good game, but I find it a bit boring on the long run. The funniest thing is building your character....

I'm a pre NGE player, left SWG for 2 years and came back last month: I'm having a lot of fun

    cheers

Thank you all for the comments, I have just today installed SWG and activated my account again, now I am just sitting and updating the game, it sure takes a long time, but heck with it - I will just play on my Wii while waiting ^_^ (I have soon completed Zelda - Twilight Princess).

    Cheers everyone! and thank you.

Ive played SWG (pre cu) and currently play CoX. I can honestly say that out of all the MMORPGs that Ive played (AO, WoW, EQ, D&D, SWG, GW), CoX had the most friendly and socially aggressive community.  I cant go more than a few feet without getting invited to  a Super Group or team. People actually stop to say hi. Thats just been my experience with those games.  Everyone has different stories to tell, im sure.

I also agree with Darksider here, CoX is the most social MMO I have every played. Alot of people are very noob friendly and will take other players under their wings. I've never made more friends in any other game than I have with CoX, and surprisingly it has one of the most mature player bases, imo.

I would down load the trials and go from there.

I played CoH before the CoV expansion, actually right after I quit SWG.  It was fun at first but there was just nothing to it after a while...

Maybe the expansion makes the game a lot better???  I would prefer to play as a villian but I doubt you can actually do a lot outside of PvP or do missions in PvE that are all the same...

CoH is surely a better "game" than SWG when it comes to mechanics, bugs, originality, etc, but neither has the ability to blow your mind with gameplay.  Marvel Universe is in Beta right now, AoC looks pretty solid, there are some good games coming out pretty soon that should help occupy our time until the next SW MMO is made.  (Please oh please Bioware...)

Speaking of Bioware, after E3 and Celebration IV, ive been so dissapointed that we didnt get that dream announcement of the KOTOR MMORPG.  DAMN!

    what is CoX?

  • Darksider25Darksider25 Member Posts: 93

CoX is used when talking about City of Heroes and City of Villians

Another SW mmo?? I doubt it will happen. I say that they just need to update their graphics a bit more and fix that running animation that looks like someone shoved a d**do up someones fecal defecator.

You dont really think KOTOR is a real possibility?  Anything BIOWARE is bound to be devoured by MMORPG fans. Legal issues may be an obstacle though.

You will find a lot of vets like this guy that left SWG are returning due to a lot of the new stuff being put in the game. There is even more going to be put in the game over the next few months. For instance the long awaited return of the village however the village will be different and serve a higher purpose.

Well if you really think about it although the story of kotar can be very expansive it deals with one thing. Being a jedi in training and choosing which side of the force you wish to play with. It is a time that is set up in the republic when the jedi counsel was influential but in the brink of destruction. I loved the kotar series they were awesome but to make an MMO off of it just doesnt sit right with the whole star wars universe that we come to know.

Now If Bioware were to take up the current SWG and mess with that then I can see something good come out of that. But make another SW mmo...... hmmmm I just dont see how it will work unless they completely go another direction with the game and that means going further into the future of SWG, not the past, where the icons of old are long past and a new generation of Sith and Jedi are fighting for supremacy of the galaxy or something.

    Edit**

Or maybe if both Jedi and Sith were outcast from the federation and somehow the jedi have to get back into good standing and the Sith grow in power to become a threat to the universe once again or something along those lines, now that would be a cool story to play with.

The SW Legacy story line would be a fresh place to start. ( The comic, that is)

Neither...I would play EQ2.  Just me though.  I hate CoV and CoH...all people do is play dressup and have contests.
