Why is there a thousand posts on returning to VG popping up. I'm guilty of this aswell but after i played for two weeks i realized that it was a foolish attempt. VG no doubt has potential to be a great MMO, but the community is all but gone. There should be tumble weeds flying across your screen everytime you log onto the game. Yeah you wanna give this game a chance ( I know i tried my best seriously) but leveling was like everquest the performance is annoying especially when you have well over the recommended specs. And now there are only going to be 4 servers. 1 PVP 2 PVE and 1 EURO. 4 servers give me a break this game is hitting the bargin bin within the next few months and soon it will be announced that they are not doing anything more for this game and it will either be free to play or vanish like AC2. We should let this die so SOE can focus on bigger and better projects. Everquest 3 
. The point i guess is your just giving this game a try because well theres nothing else. Your favorite mmo you like is starting to loose its fun factor for you and you just cant seem to enjoy LOTRO (which i dont blame you it was dull, yeah MP is cool but being a actual monster character is better) No evil races or at least a hint of evil is annoying and dumb. VG failed let it die and don't blame SOE its not there fault the game is where its at, they just picked it up because they dont have anything new they are creating for at least till 2009 that is of any interest. And SOE trying to please the asian market is very annoying to me because they weren't the ones who played Everquest to get the company to where it is today. Yeah ok bash me on that because there might be a game i didnt research up and the asian community might of helped SOE in but Everquest is there biggest and will always be. So they need to stop looking for the big bucks and just stick to the bucks they get from its loyal fan base because we are all the business they will recieve for few years to come. Well thats my rant. Let VG die so SOE can make a better game and leave that junk at Brads door.

But i agree i played Vanguard and its Horrible plus of course it would be its from SOE their last decent franchise is EQ2..their best was SWG till the screwed it up!
You should write SOE and let them know VG is EQ3. Seems they are not taking it that seriously. Maybe you should remind them that it is an important SOE product.

No the kind of threads that promote me wasting 14.99 are the threads that keep popping up saying hey im giving this a try again hey wat can we do to save vg. Ill tell you what we can do to save VG its is to Stop playin it. Let it have a little bit of dignity before its all but vanished. As for VG being EQ3 hmm no. No EQ game released had this many performace issues. I guess some people had issues with eq2 but i didnt. the game ran fine with my set up and didnt lag like VG does when i have WELL over the specs to play the game. An the assholes in this are people trying to get people into this game. (guilty of this back in may). People dont like VG they just dont have nothing better to play that is hardcore MMO and not a cartoon game like LOTRO and WOW. Just play EQ2 (im not just saying for the genre) and let SOE put this game in the retirement pile. No game will be sucessful after 7 months of Unsucessfulness. Say what you want but you will soon see the light as i have.

haha important SOE product, haha its the laughing stock of the MMO market its the poster child of failures...its the worst game to be made in long time, it has no population....
its a homeless MMo that SOE adopted b/c homeless MMO's remind smedley of the good days when he could eat baby kitties without remorse.

My biggest conern is running out of content at some point, I don't want to hit 50 and then be scratching my head. I've very intentionally slowed my leveling by having fun with diplomacy, dabbling in harvesting and just generally helping guildies and friends out on quests etc. But despite that, I'm about to hit 45. In fact, leveling is too fast because you can easily out-level quest lines and dungeons before you can explore them. Therefore, I've taken to just summoning my corpse occasionally
It may not be "near to be called" EQ3. But its the closest MMO out there to it, including EQ2.
Well yes there is the vets who love the game, but you are few and not enough to get new players into the game. like you said your lvl 45 and my char is lvl 11 almost 12 and thats me just soloing. I never met anyone to talk to everytime i log on, only one of my mmo friends can play the game on his comp and he works nights so i dont get to play with him and when i do play with him its just same ol same ol. Its fun for a few then you realize you've done this before and without people in the game to play with you, your forced to solo and the game is undoubtly boring. You can't solo forever in a mmo, well you can but thats dull and boring.
I agree with the OP. I have played alot of different MMORPG's during my 14 year career, but lately I've been restless. I played eq2 for a couple of years (since launch), but left 3 months ago. I havent found a game I feel comfortable in yet...

I tried EVE online for a month, but it didnt really feel like actually playing together with others - I need to see faces. I guess the space station walk-about update later this year might help that. I went on to planet side (dont know why) and it was fun for 3 weeks. I'm now subscribed to LOTRO, but it's a shallow piece of good looking shit. So I actually bought VG today, installed it, downloaded the patches, made my character (alarm bells going off even there), and entered...
And I was going "what the hell was all this hype about?" It looks like plastic barbie on a picknic in FFXI or EQ1...
The only nice looking thing was the sky and the trees - and even the trees looked strange. But of course, Sigil/SOE has said they are using "top of the line rendering techniques" (just like eq2 said at launch "the pc that can run this on extreme quality hasnt been invented yet blah blah"), so I guess it's only fair that my pc, which can run eq2 on extreme quality, cant run VG on more than low medium without suffering poor fps. But it ends up looking like crap. And I refuse to belive that the chars will look infinitely better at good quality setting (cause It looked pretty much the same to me at that setting).
Why, oh WHY cant we get some more creative game developers, instead of those that insist on inventing the wheel all the while we ARE able to send men into space?
