Has the WAR beta version already started?

Has it already been released and up and running? It must've been almost 2 weeks since I signed up for the beta testing and everyday since then I've been loging into their website and this one for more info, but no avail. Is there any info or indication that the developpers have already selected people for the beta version? Anything that I might've missed completely? If they already did, oh well too bad for me lol, although I spent 2-3 hours registering for the beta testting and tried to sum in 1000 characters why I should be picked for the beta testing(as it was required during registration).

yeah im pretty sure beta is up right now, and your chances of getting in were extremely small anyway.  I didnt get an invite either

I can't remember where it was stated, but I did see a video in which they did say the beta had already started. They also stated that everyone that applied for the closed beta would get to play. Yes, they said all two hundred thousand would eventually get in to play.

Edit: I found the link: http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/media/video/ . Look at the Baltimore Games Day – WAR Q&A video Part 1. It's about halfway through that video.

Wow ill have to take a look at that, guess i missed that part.  Really wasnt expecting them to let everyone in closed beta

Beta has started already, but they are inviting people in batches. So you still have plenty of chances to get it (well, plenty compared to your chances to get in beta by now)

Dind't watch that video, but my guess is they mean everyone who attended baltimore games day will get in beta, eventually. Not that everyone who signed up for closed beta would get in.

More then likely what they meant was that there will be an open beta just like 99% of all MMOs out there.

unfortunately it has been stated that war will not have open beta where anyone with internet connection can dl and play. Although they may change their mind, that's how ti is at this time.

Mythic said the same thing for DAoC when it was under development... It ended up in open beta for 2 weeks at the end. Not saying WAR will back down but they come from the same company.

Actually they did say that everyone would get into the beta. The English dev/chap, I forget his name, actually said it. Due to his accent and the reaction from the crowd, it was kind of hard to hear. He asked if they had all signed up for the beta online and stated that they will allow everyone who signed up a chance to play before launch. Now that doesn't mean everyone is going to get into the closed beta. It could simply mean that there will be an open beta at some point and everyone will get a chance. Read into it however you like, I could be wrong, but that's how I understood it.

If you look at all the video interviews they did, they actually said 60% of the 200,000 applications will  get into closed beta once the stress tests start.  However everyone at the conf. would be accepted into the beta.

I'm rather sure he's talking about those who attended the conference and not everyone..

    However for those worried;
They'll be tossing in more and more as we go so you'll just never know when one might pop up in the mailbox ;) Keep your eyes open

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

Yeah then they asked if you could keep your toon after beta and put him in the game.  And they said they were still thinking about that.  Personally I think they should NOT allow this so that everyone has a fair chance at the start.  But if they were thinking about this then they must also be thinking about having a open beta too otherwise that would really really be unfair.

I got a little bit nervous when they said that too.  Its really stupid when people decide to do that, there shouldnt be a max lvl(rank...whatever it is in this game) on the first day of release.

Most likely it will be more like LOTRO did it where anyone who pre-orders the game gets a few days head start on the general masses.  I have not seen a main stream MMO game allow characters that have been in the beta for months to carry over into release.

I really doubt this ... it will be fresh start once the live servers go up.

Well we don't know that yet Jetrpg.  The only thing that the developers have said for certain is that they are still discussing the possibility of a  Beta > Live overlap.

    Or, I should say a Pre-Order > Live overlap.

This is a quote from Mark Jacobs on the Only-War forums:

All beta chars will be wiped just prior to release, just as we did with DAoC. Also, keep in mind that characters sometimes also get wiped during beta as well. The last thing we want to do is have high-level beta chars running around the game right from the beginning so I can safely say that there is 0% chance of being able to take a character from beta into the LIVE game.

As to pre-order servers, that's a possibility only because we haven't fully discussed the issue yet. The fairness of a pre-order, versus beta applications, makes it more interesting but I haven't decided yet on what is the best way to go.

a head start worked out well for mmorpg b/c u dont want to have everyone starts at the same area with nothing to kill pve wise.

Yeah that is why i said "I really doubt this.."

If i KNEW it was one way or the other i would have not said that .. i would have said NO mythic has already said ... but i didn't.
