I just read this article today, click here , and they are saying china is going to swap the skeleton models from the game and replace them with human models. This I do not get, does killing human models send out a better message to their players then killing skeletons?
Your thoughts?

I would assume that slaying a skeleton has some religious implications or something there, but I don't know for sure. Skeleton's being attacked = bad ju ju. Humans? Well, they have no problem killing those...
Its probably due to the fact that in Asian cultures.. respect for the dead is huge. You do NOT defy burial grounds. They are respected on all levels. And to the Chinese government/populous the attack on Skeletons... even though they're evil and want to kill you.. are still the dead and could be considered ancestors.. and is thus sending out a bad message to the younger Chinese who play World of Warcraft.

Figured it was something like that... and again, killing living people, not such a big deal. Maybe next patch will have a Tianamen Square BG.
*shakes head*
I wonder what those "ancestors" thinks about killing "humans" instead?
dumbest thing i heard..........well............ever

I usually try to avoid make broad generalisations, but...
But the people in charge of China must be bonkers. Totally. I don't much care for the UK prime minister but you can't imagine even he'd be daft enough to pull this kind of stunt.
Thats Communism for you. They have outlawed all religion so it's not that. In the former Soviet Union they outlawed Rock n Roll.
It's the government exercising Nazi-like control on what should be a free culture.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
Funny how a Country that executes over 10,000 people per year (mostly political prisoners) by taking them out to fields and shooting them in the head can object to skeletons in a game.
You're American I take it? I'm just judging by your level of misunderstanding about the rest of the world.
China has not banned all religion. What they have done is selected certain religions as being state approved (including Catholicism) and banned the others.
And I believe this whole respect for the dead thing has far more to do with China's Confucianism rather than it's communism. Confucianism being a far older and deeper rooted part of their culture.

Judging by your condescending attitude, you're a arrogant type.
But thats ok, I forgive your display of hate toward roughly 350 million human beings who live in the United States.
The Communist Party has said that religious belief and membership are incompatible. They act like they are becoming more tolerant, but then they have killed people at religious demonstrations in recent years.
"State Approved."
What are you a fascist?
Did you respond to my post only to display your (obviously) self-styled "intelectualism?" Because you never know just how you look through other peoples eyes.
And as the great Henry Ford once stated: "Memorizing facts and trivia does not make you intelligent."
In a free society you should be able to choose what you want to do. I believe in free expression. China's government is oppressive.
Perhaps you don't believe in free expression. Culture and art should not be regulated.
Thanks for missing the point I was attempting to make.

I apologise for the excessive bold text in some parts of this post. The editor doesn't seem to want to turn bold off...
Judging by your condescending attitude, you're a arrogant type.
You're the one who's condemning 1.2 billion people, not me. Just to show how non-arrogant I am, I will admit I probably made a mistake in my last post. China's attitude is probably connected to Daoism, not just Confucianism.
I don't hate anyone in the US. Only met a few, and most of them have been ok people.
However there's a lot of statistical evidence out there that American's are ignorant regarding the geography and people of the rest of the world. Many American's never leave the US, and live with very skewed attitudes towards the rest of the world
Which communist party? Are you talking about Karl Marx's original manifesto? I'm not a communist (much as you may wish to paint me as one), but even I can recognise that the modern Chinese state is as much influenced by the writings of Adam Smith as Karl Marx.
And if the Chinese communist party wants to get rid of religion, why has it approved some?
No - just someone who dislikes seeing people talking crap. Do you resort to name-calling in all your discussions?
With that sort of anti-intellectualism it's not surprising you are ignorant.
So the moral and religious attitudes of 1.2 billion people is trivia? You need to get a sense of perspective.
There's a lot wrong with China's government. However as far as I'm concerned if a few models in WoW conflict with their moral and religious beliefs and they want them changed, then that's their affair not mine. I don't believe in telling people from other countries and cultures how to think.
Says the guy coming from a country that was shocked into outrage at a small glimpse of a woman's tit during the superbowl.
I think there's some very interesting debates to be had in this area. Consider also democratic Germanies banning of Swastikas. Is that right or wrong?
Personally I would prefer to see each country decide what forms of art it will tolerate, in a completely democratic fashion
I didn't miss it. You aren't exactly subtle.

Wow, did someone really try to claim that China had "outlawed religion"? That's pretty delusional.
The Chinese government isn't even "communist" by any meaningful use of the word. For example - they don't have free state health care (unlike say, Cuba, or even Britain or much of Europe), indeed, they're more capitalist in that regard than even the US in that regard. Totalitarian is the word, not "communist" or "facist" - they want to control every single aspect of their society.
As to religion, it's not "banned", it's just suppressed and strictly regulated. Any religion the government dislikes is stamped down on quite harshly. However, the basic "folk beliefs" like respect for the ancestors/dead are not much touched these days. Obviously that's at the root of this bizarre change.
Says the guy coming from a country that was shocked into outrage at a small glimpse of a woman's tit during the superbowl.
Don't judge a person based upon how many people reacted to the tit showing at the superbowl. You make it sound like because a bunch of Americans freaked out due to that event, that every single American is like that. I'm pretty sure that "the guy coming from a country that was shocked into outrage at a small glimpse of a woman's tit during the superbowl" probably wasn't shocked into outrage. And you making a statement like that really makes you look foolish.
Believe me I can see how you may set a view on a country going off of its many inhabitants, but you're becoming hypocritical when you begin to look down upon, and are quick to judge people from a one country. Especially when you're talking about
"However there's a lot of statistical evidence out there that American's are ignorant regarding the geography and people of the rest of the world. Many American's never leave the US, and live with very skewed attitudes towards the rest of the world"
You see what I'm saying? Don't begin to jump to conclusions based off of statistics. Many American's may never leave the country, but many travel to almost every single country, 2 of those people being in my family.
Having said that, a vast amount of people from America are completely brainwashed, give us some time to realize, through the real eyes, the real lies.
Also upon reading your quote again, I think I may have read your post wrong, and thought you were talking as if you were talking to the other guy directly as if he were offended by the tit showing, rather than the media, and much of the country. But I'll keep my original text there in case that is not the case.

Well, makes you wonder what they're going to do about Darkshire and the Plaugelands.

Maybe if some people would read the article, which by the way is weeks old. China is trying to promote "healthy online culture." So who cares what their government does or do. So if the government such as China tells a game developer to change this to sell their products in their country, which Blizzard or whoever runs WoW over there will do it, just because there are more subscribers in China than in the US, period(based on their own press release).
But thats ok, I forgive your display of hate toward roughly 350 million human beings who live in the United States.
Must have missed that 'hatred' part - lol lol lol lol
Maybe since all those "living anatomy" displays making the museum circuits here in the States normally are using corpses from China to put on their displays, they sold the rights and so now Blizzard can't use em?
I know, bad graveyard humor....
