RP in FFXI?

in Final Fantasy XI
Is there a server that is considered the official (or unofficial) server for more RP based play? Anyone know?

    I would say probably no. You'd probably be better off looking for a Ls that does roleplay, it seems like there would be some of those around and about.

    No. All servers are of the same kind. There's no separate servers for PvP, RP or anything else.

    Not sure, but I've never heard of any.

    Btw, what other games calls "guilds" are "linkshells" in FFXI. Guilds in this game are crafting headquarters.

    Doesn't exist, you wont find any roleplayers in this game.  There is no motivation for such a thing.

    It is sad.  I love to RP too, and so I'm probably going to try to find a server with the most RP.  It doesn't have to be all RP, just enough RP for me to RP.  Even though I generally RP when others aren't anyway. :)

    There is RP, mostly with linkshells. My wife and I were actually in one recently. They had events set up and all sorts of things for RP. To say it doesn't exist in the game is not true. As far as I know virtually all servers have at least one RP linkshell. Just gotta look for 'em.

    Even without a linkshell, I tend to RP in the real world.  I just pretend to always be my character, even when everyone around me isn't.  It's fun, but confusing.  and people sometimes wonder what I'm doing, acting like that

    I bet you could start an RP linkshell and plenty would join. I do RP myself sometimes not just in a linkshell. Lots of people do RP or like to... But, they think they can't in this game cause people will think they're weird or something.

    I dunno why.  RPGs are meant to let you pretend to be the character.

    I am my character.  So i guess I RP by just being me.  I feel that my character is a representation of who I am as far as personality because, well, his personality is me.  I only go by my in game name (mostly because no one in game knows my real name).

    There are quite a few RP linkshells on Remora server. I tend to RP quite a bit from time to time... Being the gallant knight and all... Haha.... BY THE GRACE OF ALTANA! I SHALL BANISH THEE FOUL ORC TO THE PITS OF THE REALM OF PROMATHIA! PROVOKE!!!!

    I've run int several during my time playing FFXI on the Kujata server. However, they're very hard to find and tend to keep to themselves about their habit if they have another social/dynamis/other type of LS. So, they're there, but you have to look, get lucky, and probably have the right friends who know about it.

    Hey Spada. Ky and I started another RP Linkshell as a matter of fact. If ya want one, we're more than willing to give ya one.

     

    The RP is out there, just gotta find it.
