A.  Not for children under 12 lol

B. God, I hated the new Defense of the Dark Arts teacher. She played that well.

    A. Good thing I'm older than that, then. Heh.

    B. Awesome. I absolutely loathed her in the book, so if the actress playing her makes you thoroughly despise the character, then it's all good.

I won't be seeing it until next week. The Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin is doing a feast of sorts for the film, with a really nice six course meal plus some wine to go with it, so I opted for that instead of seeing it in theaters this week.

  • It's been awhile since I read the book...I can't actually remember anything about the teacher. What was here name and some of her ticks? Just to help remind me.

Was it better than the Goblet of Fire movie? I hated that movie, I thought it was the weakest in the series.

Oh, and for anyone who hasn't read the book, there are spoilers there. Just FYI.

...oh yeah! Thanks, that brings it all back. Critical plot point and everything, not sure how I forgot all that.

For some reason, some of my friends said it was a disappointment. Good thing I have never read any of the Harry Potter books to understand it so I enjoyed it

Ill be seeing this movie in the next few days. I enjoyed the other so Hope I like this one as well. This past weekend I went to see Transformers and Fantastic Four both great. Saw previews for a movie called The Golden Compass, it looks awesome and seems to be along the lines of Harry Potter/Narnia/LotRs. Anyone else seen it?

oh arent these Ahrry Potter guys like in their 30's now? Just kidding! although daniel radcliffe sure has changed in appearance from the first movie quite a bit.

When I went to the theatres last night it was PACKED.  The crazy thing is, out of a theatre that held 399 people, not even 10% of the audience were children.  There was a group of girls (5 of em) in the very front and one boy behind me.

The bathrooms were right next to the theatre and my wife had to pee lol.  I was outside right next to the door as the crowd exited out (we left right at the credits and were somewhat one of the first to get out).

I counted maybe 42 kids out of almost 400.  Little shocking but then again, the movie was D-A-R-K.  I mean, if you go into this movie thinking ..ooo..Harry Potter...weeee think again.  There wasn't one happy thing that happen in the movie except for the Weasley Firework Prank.  Other than that, no one laughed or looked like they were having any fun in hogwarts.

It was about three times darker than the last movie.

I'm going to go see this tomorrow, but from what I've been hearing it's not that great. It's the longest book in the series but it's the shortest film. I've read the book twice and thought about rereading it another time just to refresh my memory. If the movies is "dark" then the book is most definitely darker.Just my opinion before watching it.

I thought I read on AICN that the Alamo Drafthouse was closing up?

Just remembered that for some reason, the movie theater I was in, laughed (I did too) in a lot of parts of the movie lol. I dont know why but there was some comedy I guess but it was different from the other Harry Potters.

The original downtown location closed so it could move to a bigger venue on 6th Street. They're in renovations now and should open this fall. But there are three other Alamo Drafhouse locations here in Austin, and they're still up and running. I'm going to the closest one to me for the film.

Story was done extremely well, the actors have done a beautiful job of portraying their characters as in the book and the graphics were amazing.  The end battle sequence was everything I had expected as you could imagine from the book.  Difficult to imagine that the next two films could do better, but with every movie of HP that comes out, everything is perfected even more so.  If you haven't had a chance to see it yet, do it.

even though I liked HP5.. I think the 6th one will be even better,  Snape is my favorite character, so more, snape the better for me.

The last scenes in HP5 were awesome, Spoiler: all the arcane explosions and all! it was quite spectacular, and they really did a good job with the Ministry of Magic.

I saw it earlier today, and enjoyed it. I've only read some of the first few chaptors to the book, and just from those, the movie did leave out alot of stuff that could of made it a bit better.

But awsome none the less. It is indeed not ment for a child under 12, atleast. The movies are getting darker and darker, which Rowling herself said was the point. HP6 will be even darker, with Warning: Snape "killing" Dumbledor (May not be true, he can come back in the 7th, and I believe Snape to be innocent.) and what not. I'm buying the 7th book on the 21st, rather excited to say the least.

I haven't seen it yet. Theres one more after this right??

You know what they should do?  They should continue with more movies but make it all in high quality CGI , like extremely real-life quality so than they won't ever have to worry about the actors out growing their roles.  ;[

    2 more after this.

Also, im glad they incorporate CGI with real scenes. George Lucas lost his mind when he film 98% of the prequals behind a green screen.

But, 2 more movies after this one.

George Lucas lost his mind when he decided to make the prequels. He was better off leaving well enough alone. image

Oh, and the HP films should remain as they are. The characters age in the books, so they should age on screen. I think that's been one of the saving graces of this franchise, since you get to see how the different characters grow and mature as they get older, and as the world darkens around them.
