My apologies for somewhat loosing my standards here... but going back to VG... it brought back all the evil memories now. NO I DONT like WOW either, just before you think of it!
And yes, its a pity since classes, races and some stuff is really good. But... I went back to my Monk. And died. And lost XP to corpse runs. And lost money to repair. Bah, I am so pissed just again, playing hours and the result was more loss than gain, because out of the blue where ALWAYS 2 dots had spawned, suddenly a 3 dot did - and killed me. In that blasted RaJin castle. Again. Where I ALWAYS HAD SENSELESSLY DIED.
Gawd I am so mad, this retarded castle is STILL THERE.
Really, this entire mechaics are FUKKING STUPID.
I gained a few coppers with hours of grinding and lost 3 silver for the death and all the XP of the day. Thanks for wasting my time.
Oh and the "FPS has increased myth": its a lie. I had 5-15 FPS in that Kojan area, where ALL OVER THE REGION 12 other poeople were playing. Since I knew some'd call me a liar on the FPS thing I made a screenie. Its 10 minutes old.
I am SO PISSED OF THIS WASTE OF TIME TAKING ALL XP AND MONEY FROM AN ENTIRE DAY FOR FUKK YOU I AM SO HARDCORE CRAP!
....
Now I feel better. Slightly.
Everyone has the right to behave childish once and then. =P

And if you knew the castle thing was so bugged..why not xp somewhere else? was it the only place to go? I played VG for about 2 months before I got sick of it..but I never really had too many issues with bugs...just the occaisional dissapearing mob. Best of luck in your next game,
D.
how dare you deny that performance is 1000% better and that all is as it should be! You obviously have Vista or 8800 or gremlins in your PC or you are trying to play this on a 4yr old wal mart emachine because its a known Fact that performance is fixed and all is right in Telon. rrrii..iifght, Tham? Find me a quote where I state what you try to say that I did?
But nonetheless alot of people are seeing improvements, some aren't, that doesn't make it a lie to say the game got better for whomever says it.

Just because your FPS has not increased, that doesn't mean it hasn't for other people. Ive had a considerable FPS increase, although its far from perfect. Usually in open area's with very little about I can get abou 40FPS however it drops considerably the second an area gets populated or I head to somewhere like the Storehouse near Tursh (Im still only level 6/7 due to the fact I just cannot decide what class to play).
My point is you were annoyed because someone claimed your low FPS was a lie, yet in this thread your stating the increase in FPS was also a lie, which makes you just as bad as those you met ingame. Some areas have had an increase in FPS some haven't. As someone who played before you should know exacltly how fickle this game is when it comes to whats in our computers, thats the reason some guy running pair of 8800's in SLi crashes and burns, while my "budget" 8600GT can run it to a fair standard.
Ouch 7.5 FPS eh ? Brave man to actuallty post the FPS. Few people actually do. 7 FPS is not playable. Is it always 7 FPS or just this area(s)?
You really want to get the truth out ? Post your machine spec, along with a FRAPS video with FPS counter, along with a series of slideshow photos of the same area without FRAPS running. No one seems to do this. Plenty of "lovers" videos with no FPS or machine spec's. Plenty of haters video with no FPS or spec's to. In light os SOE recent trial annoucement in its own "optimised areas"... I think this is a helpful thing for all us potential new buyers. This games deserves a second chance but only on an fair basis.
Anyways bad luck VG is running bad on your machine. Seems its a lottery. I am sure the machine will run other games much better as you probably already know.
In the end does it really matter? The game has no end game except to run a dungeon and get items. Sure I can build a house and pvp anyone thats left on the server but if I just wanted to run dungeons for items I would force myself to play WoW which I left right when battelgrounds came out. Game had potential but died bad in my opinion.

The average FPS was 5-15, in open space up to 20. It is a stutter, but thats not the reason I stopped playing this game once and will now again. Its the game mechanics. I JUST CAN'T STAND THIS CORPSE RUN LOOSE XP LOOSE MONEY in this amount! If they keep the corpse run systems they will some make a corpse run for Vanguard, and I highly doubt anyone will be able to survive THAT corpse run!
No, VG just is FAR to hardcore, unforgiving and gives you NOTHING. High risk and the most DAMN MEAGER rewards I have seen! You risk your life, the XP & money of an entire day of grinding and whats the loot? 3 copper, a rat tooth and a shabby pair of gloves ever 200th mob you either cant wear or looks like crap or if yer real lucky both. NO THANKS.
I really dont need my MMOS be like x-mas all day, but this is just the cheapest, most stupid gameplay I have seen! Who the heck was digging out 1980 game mechanics and transported them into 2007th 3d should be whipped! ><
No, its really not the lag or some wrong textures, or some square areas who are 90% black right inside the landscape, its THIS GAME, which doesnt onyl give you almost NOTHING after a hard days grind, OH NO, it TAKES AWAY everyhing you got after a hard days grind!
I remember, there was this Dungeon, forgot the name. Its when you leave Themnwars Shield up to the Dwarfs area, with spiders at the entrance. The dungeon was quite cool, but once you reached the bottom, it was DEADLY. VERY DEADLY, and since VG deungeons are HUGE, every GODDAMN WIPE meade us fight ALL THE FUKKING WAY again. And for what? All I ever got there from HOURS of grinding was 10-15 copper and a hand full of skeleton bones. And with alle the wipes usually with less XP and often less money too (repair!). End of the story. Its this UBER CRAPPY loot/risk/CR/reward balance which makes this game BAD AS FUK. GRRR

For me that isnt playable. I maybe spoilt but over 30 FPS is my preferred "speed" with lowering quality if I dont get that. I found VG to have the same benchmark on my older box.
This would really make any game play mechnic annoy the crap out of me. Hardcore or lame mechanics.

Well, I pretty much enjoyed VG in the first 6 weeks, until I understood the system is against you. I never REALLY bothered the lag or bugs, but maybe playing computer games for 20 years and recalling the DOS 640 KB era makes you "hardcore" in what you bear, heh. But I understand most are less tolerant. We all have our limits. MY limit is a game where I GET THE HELL NOTHING OUT OF!

Actually, last week the final person from my VG guild on Varking threw in the towel and pulled the plug on VG. No one was more dedicated to making the game work, he bought a new, high end gaming PC just before release, and upgraded it soon afterwards (up to 4 GB) just to improve performance.
He put up with several nerfs of the characters he was trying to level, must have had about 8 characters in the mid-30's. (retired, single military guy with all the free time in the world on his hands) and he really tried ot make it work.
Well, apparently something happened in a patch last week that brought his in-town performance down to what he described as a "slide-show".... which is sort of what I consider 7 FPS that the OP also experienced.
Well, my friend quit VG in a page long, paragraph-less rant (he was really angry) and swore that no SOE game would ever get his money again. Oh yes, I pointed out that VG was Sigil's mess, but he refuted that saying that since SOE took over things have grown progressively worse, not better, and he was holding them accountable for the Post-Sigil era.....
So once again...people's performance results continue to vary (my friend has an 8800 card, which seems to be the biggest culprit)

I prefer death penalties.
The fortress, castle, or whatever the hell it is, is a real pain in the ass. Really not a solo friendly spot.
What do you have your graphics settings at, and what kind of hardware are you running.
Yesterday I was at renton keep, just logged in. There was about a half dozen people running around and fighting with each other; it was nice. Got killed a couple times, and killed a few guys myself. Now, my bind is set in Kojan, and after I was killed by another player I wasn't paying attention when I went to select were to respawn at and selected my bind spot. I'm still pissed at myself.
I ran to the riftway at tawar only to find that I couldn't use it to port myself back near Renton keep. I logged out pretty disgusted with myself.
Edit: I noticed a decrees in performance myself. Just after the patch I logged in and the performance had jumped a bit; the few times I logged in after that day It seemed like my performance has gone down. Not sure what's going on. I've had significant frame rate drops in open areas, and the loading seems to be taking longer. (I'm not hitching as bad when I enter a new chunk, but it seems to be hitching longer now then before; very strange.)
Wish Darkfall would release.
Well now... I am no fan of the corpse run, but then I never did it in VG... I just recalled my body to where I rez'ed and moved on.
I know, that loses a lot more XP for the one death, but, you will lose many times more by dying repeatedly trying to get back to your corpse. If you go into the Ra'jin temple (or whatever) and get owned twice in a row, then it is time to write that off and go find somewhere else to hunt. The only people who end up in massive amounts of debt, in my experience are people who don't know when they are outmatched and stubbornly keep trying to do something that is over their heads. And quite literally the only time I had lots of XP loss or big debt was when my guild grouped up and tried to do some really hard content... And the rest of them are more stubborn than I am, and I did not want to desert them.
I have lots of issues with Vanguard, and that includes how its death system works. However, I don't think you can really blame them for this. After the 2nd or 3rd death you should've moved on to less challenging content. Obviously your toon was not ready for it (not the right level, gear, etc).

Vanguard needs to decide what it wants to be. Hardcore or mainstream. It cant be both. The mentality of most players have changed since the "old days" of EQ. VG need to either go all hardcore and keep the small niche of people that crave that. Or VG need to go mainstream and become more casual friendly and remove the needless hindrances. Either way one group is gonna be turned off of Vanguard. You cant ride the fence and you cant serve two masters.

Just cause you hate vanguard why do you have to mention that you also hate WoW? The games garbage every one knows that by now
Whew.....I haven't played vanguard since my "free" month ran out at the end of January. I have not had any problem since then with experience loss, corpse runs, and not making enough loot to cover my repair costs
By the way, the quest you were on was a friggin nuisance, be glad you didn't find her, she probably would have killed you.
Look, here's the bottom line. The FPS fiasco has improved for some players and not in others. It has nothing to do with current hardware and settings; you can line up 50 people with the same hardware, hardware specs, hardware brandnames, internet connection, virtually 50 people with 50 clone computers and the game will still run 20 FPS on one system and 7 on the other with 12 with the guy. Sigil even admitted this and they have no idea why it is like that.
The problem is the code is so chaotic and so disorganzied that it is simply luck and favor of odds that you have great FPS or bad FPS. Hopefully, SOE (since they have more experience and resources) will be able fix this mess.
Good game, but ran into the grave by a horrible leader. Hopefully, this game will become the great game it was suppose to be.

Being a "troll" I just couldn't help myself here...
The dungeon you refer to is Kregors end? or something like that. It's made for a group and even with that it's way out of balance. Most don't even go to the bottom at lvl 15-20 cause the xp / downtime isn't worth it. Besides that the xp you get from the missions isn't worth it either.
This is common for the dungeons in VG. The spawns are very bad and they seem to like to lump everything together. There is another dungeon around tursh called riftseekers. This dungeon is very cool and is made for lvl's 7-10. Problem is nobody goes there because there is very little chance a group will be able to make it through at those lvl's. We tried over and over with alts decked out in yellow gear and could'nt do it. It wasn't until lvl 15-20 could we do it without a bunch of downtime. Mainly this was because the way Sigil Mobs everything together. You pull one you pull a whole room and at lvl 7-10 healers just don't have the energy to heal over and over plus there is very little crowd control at those lvl's. It's a shame really cause the dungeon is very cool but that's the problem with VG and it's gameplay.
The biggest reason VG get's so much hate is alot of us were waiting years for this game to come out. Most of my friends built new comps just for it (yes all 8800/vista machines so yeah I know... ) We put up with alot of hype and nerf's and other crap. We seen a very tight guild that came over from another game we all played litterally vaporize. We still talk on MSN and whatnot but it's not the same cause sinse VG everyone is just doing their own thing now.
The biggest downfall of VG as far as gameplay was it's fanboi's. They listened to them and built a game that nobody wants to stick around in except the few rabid vanboi's.
People will come back if they fix the gameplay so it's fun and not a waste of time.
As far as the 8800 cards I have no idea what the problem is. Since I left VG I've tried WOW with it (I hate the cartoony ... ) Iv'e tried EQ2 with it. (run like a raped ape) Tried FFXI (ran great but man does the controls in that game suck) and now I'm trying COV with it. Also played quake 4, Tombraider anniversary (good game btw) and SWG. I've found no problems with any of them.
Hehe Its really funny to read about the exp loss, oh well I guess thats just one annoying featuring for you? I think its ok, can be annoying but also keeps me more focused which I tend to enjoy.
I wondering if I get an increased performance now when I go back in a few weeks, but with my luck I guess not, it certainly seems to be some luck involved if you get a good performance or not.
Although I never tried that specific dungeon, I tried a fair few with my guild mates and your characterization of them agrees with my own experience. The dungeons are interesting but they did not set them up right... so it is very easy to over-pull, or things re-spawn too quickly, right on top of you, or the like, and it ends up being harder than its "level" indicates. Sure you could go into a level 8 dungeon when you are 20th level but... what is the point of that? It's like they didn't test this to make sure that a reasonable group of reasonable players at the proper levels could actually do it.

Ya, cities still are quite jerky but out in the open i have no problems with FPS.
I wish they would get rid of chunks. I played Dark and Light for abit since it was free and it has a large seamless world.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!
So my screený only PROOF how my system handles it, its in no way PROOF that everyone can play the game with the fps as i have just like Elikal only proofs how his sytem behaves with Vanguard
Oh not want to brag, but I DID find her and beat the shit out of her, despite she being a 3 dot and I was alone. Well it was close and I had to call all my long-timer skills. The POINT however is, I lost still more with 1 death than I gained with that quite difficult encounter, and in MY VERY personal opinion, THATS exactly the biggest problem VG has to attract more than VERY VERY few people.
I think 90% of all people play games as a form of escapism. I have PLENTY of opportunities to make myself feel like a nobody in REAL LIFE ALREADY, so coming to a MMO I PAY for, I want a wee bit more feel like the hero, like some ACCOMPLISHMENT I gained, not like a stupid treadmill with BIG EFFORT and LITTLE GAIN AGAIN. I have that already. Its called "work". I know, thats prolly a term few MMO gamers are familiar with, but thats how it is.
