Just some helpful tips if you decide to play Star Wars Galaxies MMO

Start by REGISTERING for the TRIAL and remember, its only a TRIAL portion of the game. www.starwarsgalaxies.com

START on A POPULATED SERVER! Servers rank like this .. VERY HEAVY - HEAVY - MEDIUM - LIGHT - VERY LIGHT ..

1. You can only create 2 Characters per Server.

2. Do the tutorial if you have'nt already, also you can skip the tutorial by unchecking the tutorial when creating your character. You will be send to Mos Eisleys at a level 5.

3. Combats Classes get what they call Combat Xp's, Trader Classes get a different type of Xp's when you Craft and Entertainer also get a different type of Xp's. All in all though, everyone can get to Level 90. But a Combat Level 90 vs a Trader 90 is still going to be more dominant in battle since they are a Combat Class (Same goes for the Entertainer as well).

4. Start off by visiting everything you can possibly do in Mos Eisleys, this means locate the Bazarr and Bank, Locate the Starport and start the Legacy Quest series as well in Mos Eisleys. By doing LEGACY, you will get to know the New SWG game alot faster instead of just venturing out in the open like us old vets did LEGACY Quests should get you to Level 50 I believe.. If you feel you wanna break from the grind, grab a Speeder of any sort and check out the major Starports on Tatooaine.

5. If you want to choose a faction as soon as you start which is either Rebel or Imperial, visit the citys that have these Recruiters. For REBEL I would go to ANCHORHEAD and for IMPERIAL you would go to city of BESTINE. Its really up to you if you want a faction at a early state of the game. It will be easier to get Faction I believe if you do choose a side as a newbie, you just gotta watch out for the opposite NPCs whic leads me into this.

If you chose Imperial or Rebel you got [3] types of GAME PLAY. 1 = Neutral .. 2 = Combatant .. 3 = Special Forces

If you chose to stay in a NEUTRAL state,  nothing can hurt you of the opposite faction. If you choose to be a COMBATANT only the opposite faction NPC can harm you. If you choose SPECIAL FORCES, you are open game for both NPC and REAL PLAYERS on THE opposite faction to Kill You.

6. /addignore (insert name) to the CREDIT SPAMMERS so you screen is'nt spammed.

7. Gear is going to be tuff in the beginning, so just keep doing quests, you will eventually either get them as rewards or get them off of mobs that you have killed.

8. Alot of people like to SOLO in the beginning, so dont take it offensive if you throw up your LFG tag and no one answers (I am not speaking for all and all servers are different, just speaking from what I experienced).

9. Just dont join ANY Guild, look for a good a prospering guild or a NEW one. And dont be afraid to ask how many members are in it. Alot of new players think by joining a guild that your going to get a free ride, maybe some do, maybe some don't. Some offer Homes in their Citys and some dont.

10. Make FRIENDS in the game with people around your LEVEL, more an Likely a CL90 may have an alt, but its best to find NEW PLAYERS in the game as yourself. A CL90 may help you out with questions and answers, but unless you folks really hit it off, he or she is just going to do what CL90s at his level instead of your level.

11. Get into SPACE by way of your Faction. As a REBEL you can only be a REBEL PILOT or a PRIVATEER and same goes for IMPERIAL PILOTS as well. REBEL Factions = Xwings, Ywins etc... Privateer = Millineum Falcon, Boba Fett type ships and IMPERIAL = Tie Fighters etc. You can also ACCUMLATE Faction FAST by doing SPACE MIssions for a certain faction. Everyone starts off with a NEWBIE SPACESHIP given by the NPC Faction you choose to FLY For for FREE!

12. If you PVP at an Earlier part of the game, remember, if you kill another player, that player you killed CAN PUT A BOUNTY on your HEAD, which means a BOUNTY HUNTER will find you and introduce you to a Dirt Nap. Bounty Hunters do get FIRST SHOT on you and if your AFK in a cantina, more and likely you will see yourself on the floor when you get back to your computer.

YOU ARE GOING TO BE THE JUDGE whether you like SWG or NOT. Dont let someone else tell you otherwise since they had a bad time in the game, only you will know if this game is for you or not. At least to get to Level 25 before becoming a critic

If anyone else has any more tips for NEW PLAYERS, please feel free to add them. This is what only comes to my mind.

If I have made a mistake on any of my information, please feel free to post it.

This is some awesome advice I'm glad someone posted something like this. I've gotten sick of WoW after playing it on and off for almost the past 3 years. I've heard of SWG and have been wary of it but I think it's time to shatter the barrier and give it a try. Right after the 8 hours of downloads, .

Already reminding me of FF11 updating, heh.

    good stuff, thanks!

Upon reaching Tatooine, the spammers were a huge WTF!  Learning to ignore was one of the first things I did heh.

I didnt see the point in the long explaination, he was trying to give somthing to the NEW community.   Your a vet.. so?  Im a vet too.  Not really any point in explaining how bad things are.  If someone likes it, they like it.  Good for them...

START on A POPULATED SERVER! Servers rank like this .. VERY HEAVY - HEAVY - MEDIUM - LIGHT - VERY LIGHT ..

First off... I'm loving the colors man. It's totally giving the illusion that this post is worth reading. And starting on a populated server is great advice. Lets see there is bria... and then there's bria... and then of course there is bria.

Of course the word populated could be considered a relative term, giving the complete and utter lack of a population on any server, but it's in such big bright green letters who am I to argue?

     1. You can only create 2 Characters per Server.

Only 2? You say that like its a bad thing! This way Star Wars Galaxies: The Total Experience is twice as much fun as it normally is.

     2. Do the tutorial if you have'nt already, also you can skip the tutorial by unchecking the tutorial when creating your character. You will be send to Mos Eisleys at a level 5.

Some more good advice. This way you have a guide helping you segway into a world with no population, lots of glitches and a fun factor of zero. The guide won't help, but it will make you feel better about how bad the game is going to be.

Everybody gets different type of xp. Dogs and body parts get dog and body part xp. The great part about this is after you spend a million bazillion hours grinding out the confusing and meaningless progression system you will have access to an even less content because by now out of sheer boredom you've done the turtorial on both your characters.

By advising you to visit the bank and the bazaar, the OP has pretty much told you everything there is to do in mos eisley. I never did the legacy quests myself, as I am an old vet, but neither did I venture out into the open after the NGE. I didn't do much of anything I was to busy writing angry letters to the SOE customer service department and dabbling in voodoo.

But if you do feel you wanna break from the grind, I advice cancelling all together, or better yet not buying the thing in the first place. Guaranted to reduce and swg grind induced frustration.

I really like this part. It's like the blue pill and the red pill, you know, from that movie The Matrix? I thought that movie was pretty good, although I liked it better when it was called The Terminator. You know, cause it pretty much ripped everything off of The Terminator what with them being in the future and all fighting giant robots and aliens. Oh wait, that was the movie Aliens, but it had the same director as The Terminator so they must have ripped it off to.

(The point I'm trying to make here is that the faction system in this game is so royally screwed up I don't even have to sight examples, but rather spend my time arguing other useless points of sci-fi related controversy.)

    6. /addignore (insert name) to the CREDIT SPAMMERS so you screen is'nt spammed.

I have to disagree here, by placing the credit spammers on ignore you are shutting out the only potential interaction you are likely to get. Unless you took the OPs advice and started on bria, then you can add whiny twelve year olds, the demographic the constitutes the other social majority in the swg community. (choking-on-own-laughter)

    7. Gear is going to be tuff in the beginning, so just keep doing quests, you will eventually either get them as rewards or get them off of mobs that you have killed.

Exactly. Keep playing. That carrot you see in front of you is acheivable. Just pull this wagon full of turnips and moonshine all the way to Albequrque and it's yours.

    8. Alot of people like to SOLO in the beginning, so dont take it offensive if you throw up your LFG tag and no one answers (I am not speaking for all and all servers are different, just speaking from what I experienced).

While we all appreciate the OP for indicating he is just relating his own experience, I for one am going to come charging to his defense over this statement. You can absolutely not expect to receive a response to your LFG tag, no matter what server 'heavy populated' server you chose to play on. (continuing-to-choke-on-own-laughter-oxygen-becoming-a-problem)

    9. Just dont join ANY Guild, look for a good a prospering guild or a NEW one. And dont be afraid to ask how many members are in it. Alot of new players think by joining a guild that your going to get a free ride, maybe some do, maybe some don't. Some offer Homes in their Citys and some dont.

QFE. Just don't join any guild. Actually the two words 'just don't' can pretty much answer any question any newbie to swg might have.

    10. Make FRIENDS in the game with people around your LEVEL, more an Likely a CL90 may have an alt, but its best to find NEW PLAYERS in the game as yourself. A CL90 may help you out with questions and answers, but unless you folks really hit it off, he is just going to do what CL90s at his level instead of your level.

Wow, I am like, totally blown away by the amount of good advice this OP has to offer. It's almost like he sliced open part of my head and started scooping stuff out and posted photographs of everything online. You definately don't want to make friends with any high level swg players. Either they are loser vets like me making that once a year guilt filled visit to grandma or the absolute lunatics who still play this game and claim it to be more fun than a good swift kick in the ewoks.

More great advice. If there is any fun to be had in this broken joke of a game it's in space. And by any fun I mean like being crucified is any fun. At least it gets you out in the open air.

YOU ARE GOING TO BE THE JUDGE whether you like SWG or NOT. Dont let someone else tell you otherwise since they had a bad time in the game, only you will know if this game is for you or not. At least to get to Level 25 before becoming a critic

By all means, why would you want to listen to the 90% of the player base that went running from this game like water running throug a mexican tourist? What the swut would we know?

If anyone else has any more tips for NEW PLAYERS, please feel free to add them. This is what only comes to my mind.

'This is what only comes to my mind.'

     Well spoken sir.

Shouldn't you be going back to grinding Honor in WoW?

Only 2? You say that like its a bad thing! This way Star Wars Galaxies: The Total Experience is twice as much fun as it normally is. 2 is just fine more would be stupid, as that will not creat a good atmosfeer where you have alts , that would just ruin the whole experiance as then you don't have to even make friends as then you "could"do everything by yourself. But then again if you want more charater just don't be a cheapskate and cough that extra toon up i you so desire to have more then 2.

I am going to have to disagree with skipping tutorial. Always do it to a point like level 5 or 6. You can net some good money and a couple good weapons to start you off with then just being thrown into the world.

I am glad most people found my information useful, I hope you can put it to use. If you have any questions, feel free to send me mail.

Here are a few more tips..

If you go into your 'DATAPAD' you got alot here that can help you.

    a. POI - This is called Points of  Interest - these locations are excellent spots to visit if you like to see special locations in the game) some of these POI give you Badges if you visit them. Every planet has many POI in them. On tatooaine a POI can consist of Ben Kenobis Home, Luke Skywalker Farm aka Lars Homestead, Jabba Palace etc etc. Also in your Datapad, make sure you DRAG your SPEEDER Icon to your HOTBAR. It will be alot esier to activate instead of going in your datapad everytime.

    b. J = Journal aka your Quest Log. By HIGHLIGHTING the certain mission in your Quest Log, it will keep you on track what to do next.

    c. If you start to do your quests, visit your local Cantina to get ENTERTAINER BUFFS from a Entertainer, usually you want to speak to a Level 90 Entertainer and ask to receive buffs. For leveling in the beginning, ask for the buff that will increase your XP's. You can also ask for other certain type of buffs that may help you level in the game. Just say your new and ask the entertainer what they recommend. Its also very wise to tip your ENTERTAINERS  This also falls suit with MEDICS in the game, they can give you buffs as well to help you. A ENTERTAINERS Buff can last you up to 5 Hours if Maxxed and a MEDIC Buffs can last only 30 minutes I believe. Make sure when you are asking the ENTERTAINER for some buffs to either LISTEN to THEM or WATCH them by clicking it in the RADIAL Menu. This INCREASE XP Buff also works in SPACE

    d. Make sure you get some AIR too, when logging in SWG, this game can cosume alot of time just to get situated. LOL

Pretty funny statement considering that Blixtex "the almighty savior of swg" brags on the fact that his hunter on wow is a pvp god to his fellow soe employess and likes to give them little tips while they play wow on their lunchbreaks, since none of them play swg due to "not  being able to stomach the combat".

Im confused here. Yadalli. Have you played this before. I believe that at the top of the topic you stated something about you waiting for the patch DL's. Then less then a hour later you have an entire review on the game? wtf is going on here. I dont trust what you say anyway..
