After a screw ball company like turbine can finnally make a good MMO anything can happen, maybe this will be SOEs hidden gem and SOE isnt creating the game btw.
I know. I just choose to exercise my right as a consumer and not purchase anything that SOE will profit off of. SOE rarely develops anything, they just non-publicly fund dev teams and mysteriously buy them out shortly after release.
Zzzz the minions system isn't even remotedly nice. It is making everyone in the needs to use minions.
A little as if you have CoV, but only masterminds...nothing else. To add to its flaws, it end in RAIDING with your minions, come on, do you really want me to say to you why raiding is lame, why grouping with peoples who all have scores of pets is lame and why raiding with everyone having pets is beyond the scale of lameness.
Gods and Heroes...where you raid with other players and armies of pets. No thanks. Next game.

Simple answer: more people are ready for a PvP instead of another PvE game. WoW is the prom king of PvE MMOs (meaning it's the most popular not the best). But people are ready for a change of raiding games and that's why most people want a PvP game.
But I will not choose to be completely close minded to the idea Gods and Heroes is a total flop without playing the game first. It does looking pretty interesting to me.
Sure their wont be PVP at launch but just wait till they add Egypt this will be the king of PVP games, just imagine 40 people with 4 minions each thats 160 people, waiting on another 40 people wiht 4 minions each. thats a ton of possibilities for PVP combat. instead of needed 2k people for a 1k on 1k huge Nation verse nation battle you just need 500. i am hoping its PVP will some what resemble EVE with huge combat and hopefully wars for the conquest of areas.
If you really want awesome pvp in GnH, heres what you do: after release, sign up on the forums and debate about pvp, if devs see that your system is popular they might build off of it. I don't know what sort of features they will have to help decide on a system. Most likely, it will be what the majority of the players want. If the majority of players want the system you've described, thats what will be in the game. Devs might have to tweak it a bit for balancing in minions and stuff, but they wont make something completely different and unpopular.
Its getting alot of good previews and feedback, wheres the hype for this game?! the minion system alone is awesome.
Didn't you run this same thread a couple weeks ago? If not you, someone did.
If a game is good, it doesn't need to be propped up, it will attract attention all on its own. Let's just see how it does, then we'll know how good it is.
Noone is looking forward to the LLLAAAAAAAAAGGGGGG caused by twenty people standing around or fighting with their 60 minions onscreen. 3 minions per person in a raid, yeah right.

You got half right, half wrong.
Peoples are sick of raiding and ready for a change.
PvP although a significant part of the community, will never be the main component of it. Making a PvP-centric game won't work. The answer, to remove raiding, is in PvE. Not in a foreign gameplay.

There's probably one of the two biggest reasons right there. Sony touching a game these days is like leprosy.
The other thing is probably just the fact that both WAR and AOC come from HUGE liscenses, so they had a pre-made fan base before anyone had even seen so much as an artists sketch.

Not saying this will always be the case..but pretty much any game that adds pvp as an expansion is going to have crap pvp. I wish devs would do us all a favor and do one of two things...design a game with pvp as a core element from the start..or don't put it in at all.
PvP as an afterthought is worse than no pvp at all, bleh.
Oh..40 people with 40 minions each..you know what I see in my imagination with that scenario? My computer crashing to desktop repeatedly, or the screen just freezing for 10 minutes at a time so that people will think my game screen is actually my desktop background.
Oh..how I can't wait for the tells of Them: noob! I pwnzorred you! Me: dude..my screen didn't move for 10 minutes.. Them: whatever dewd...I roxxored ur boxxorz!!!
The problem PE had with PvP is that minions haven't really been explored so they don't know what to expect in balancing it. So if they had pvp they would be rebalancing it constantly and it just would never be done. Also they don't have big company funding, but that's better than SOE funding...
People tired of raiding? doubt it, and if they are, 'raiding' in this game is with 5 people, so theres no problem trying to get a huge group together.
Lag from minions is doubtful too, but i guess we'll see when open beta comes out wont we?
SOE has much less say in Gods and Heroes then they do with thier other titles. Primarily because it would be very easy for Perpetual to move base. The only real thing SOE has on Gods and Heroes is a contract to host service in the US. However, Perpetual recieved alot of investments from companies competing with SOE, and they have representatives in Perpetual's board of directors.
Such as Gravity invested 9 million US into the company and has the system to host games in 22 countries including the US. If SOE fucks up it would be easy to set up competing servers across the world. Its not like SOE is the primary shareholder for Perpetual, if they want to they can go to a competitor.
I know. I just choose to exercise my right as a consumer and not purchase anything that SOE will profit off of. SOE rarely develops anything, they just non-publicly fund dev teams and mysteriously buy them out shortly after release.

The game sounded very interesting early on, but SOE involvement was a major cooldown. Also the fact that there is no knowing when there will be crafting and a good pvp system in place, makes this a not so interesting game at the moment.
Started playing Vanguard as well, two months later and that arse Smedley is control of Vanguard.. have not looked back on the game ever since.</p>

i agree . there are already tons of Warhammer fans and tons of Robert e howard fans ( not to mention The movie and comic book fans) that want to try and play online games based on these scenarios.

Please folks, learn to base your opinions on facts.
I would be hyped if it was set in Greece instead of Rome.
From a modern perspective, there really isn't much difference except for the political structure. The Romans not only incoporated all of the ancient Greek city-states, but ended up copying/stealing a lot of their cultural and military ideas.
Of course, if you are more keen on the characteristics found in individual city states like the militarism of Sparta or the economy and naval strength of Athens, then that is different.
1) PE has no track record of successful games that I'm aware of
2) SOE picked it up. It is my belief SOE signs deals with games they know stand a good chance of failing, then they can buy them out at a bargin price and add them to the Statiion pass.
3) Combat with minions, what a totally original idea....oh wait....isn't that the same as GE/SotNW's combat.....you seem to think minions are cool, and solo they are, but I remember being in a 5 man group in COV of whatever class that was that controlled 3-4 minions each, and it was absolute chaos to move and control .....can't imagine raids of 10, 20 or more....
4) Generic name/IP....... I mean...WARHAMMER.... AGE OF CONAN.... commanding names... vs something the store brand name....maybe all the good names were taken?
5) Not designed for PVP from the start = PVP that sucks in game forever.... hence I'm hyping WAR.....
Who knows, it may end up being the next great game.... but I'll wait until I read the reviews and player comments....

And turbine making something good is debatable.
I've read up on it.
Didn't like the way it sounded.
I'll give it 3 stars though without even playing it, just for being a little bit more original.
