Good luck. Remember to tell us how it went when you get back.

Do you have a history of anxiety? Ask around your family to see if anyone else suffers from panic attacks or the like. Panic attacks can come in all varieties and have many symptoms. The bad thing about panic attacks is they are very frieghtening. The good thing is they are not life threatening. Just a possibility that I thought of. Some of my family members have spent alot of money on tests and hospital visits. Also doctors are clueless about anxiety so ask as many questions as possible and study up before your visit.

So how are you? That sucks really bad mate. I have kidney stones from drinking to much mountNdew so I kinda know how you feel. It hurts so bad sometimes I want to cry lol. Like seriously if you have ever had kidney stones you will want to go to the hospital. It feels like someone is stabbing me in the side off and on. Every once in awhile it stops hurting then it starts back up. Get well soon!

I got 5 bucks on a T.I.A.  Trans Ischemic Attack.  "Mini-stroke" in layman's terms.  They typically indicate an arterial blockage, hardening, or narrowing.  They are not actual strokes and typically resolve in less than 24 hours leaving no permanent effects.  Studies have shown that they are often precursors to actual strokes though...

Then again my next door neighbor just had her 4th and hasn't had an actual stroke yet.

They're prolly gonna wanna keep you for observation, then prescribe some meds.

Just out of curiosity how old are you?

  • gpettgpett Member Posts: 1,105

Yeah definitly something neurological.  Hope they can find out what happened and you are ok.  Sometimes money is well spent if it gives ya more "play" time.

My brother was only 21 when he had his first stroke. But it was his left leg that did the whole numbing, feeling very weak, sort of thing. And yes, his head began to hurt as well. It was a blood clot that caused the stroke. You can never be to young to have one. At 18, I go to see my doctor every other month at least to make sure I have no signs of one. X.x

So yea, seeing a doctor, as many have alreasy suggested, is a good idea. You can never be too careful. Sometimes a blood clot and stroke can just appear out of no where for no damn reason. My family doesn't have a history of it either, just my elder brother right now.

Neurological, possible stroke or early signs on leukemia. Hell, you may have just been tired.

  • ColdmeatColdmeat Member UncommonPosts: 3,409

Hope it's nothing serious. Nothing worse than having the crap scared out of you when your body starts getting flakey.

First time I had a anxiety attack, I thought I was having a heart attack, and went completely apeshit, called 911, and all. Now I know better. Only downside is if I am really having a heart attack, I'll think it's just a panic attack, and blow it off, till I drop dead.

Hurry up and get back to tell us you're fine, Gnome, so we can all stop worrying about you.

My girlfriend had an almost exact same situation happen to her, spoken to other people who have had almost the exact situation with one side of their body/arm etc. All diagnosed as anxiety.

In my girlfriends situation, her arm seized up got right tense, then went very numb and it was hurting her for days. Anxiety can definitely trigger things such as that.

    I'M BACK!

I survived the VA Hospital!  It was hairy and treacherous, but I took it as a personal challenge for survival and kicked myself through it.

They said I am having migraines.  Actually, I started feeling kind of rough again when I got there, which is good because they could see what I was talking about.  I started feeling sick this time though and really dumb thinking and stuttering.  They had me grip a weight with my left hand and hold it up and my arm started looking like an old man's when I did it.  Then just like here at home, I started getting a headache about an hour later.

They were running some tests on me when the headache came, so they said that it wasn't a clot or anything but something neurological.  Then when I got back to the E.R. doctor after the tests were run she gave me a shot in my I.V. and in like 5 minutes the headache was gone and my arm felt better.  She said that migraines can look totally like a stroke, even make half of your body numb and weak.

So, I now am having migraines.  Yippee for me.

She gave me some stuff called Zomig that I am to take when I feel one coming on.  Plus I have to keep taking my Zoloft that the doctor gave me a couple of weeks ago (I got two "Zo" medicines, hehe).  I got put on Zoloft because I was feeling really down lately.  Maybe that was from the migraines too, I dunno.  I've never been much to have the blues but it was starting to really bug me.

Anyways, enough with my illness.  I'm just suffering from freak ass headaches that look like strokes is all.  Other than that I'm a completely healthy specimen.

BTW, migraines hurt!  I mean, they HURT!   If anyone ever says they're just a headache, they are dead wrong.

Gnome Make sure that if the medication doesn't relieve the pain you go to the ER right away.  My wife is taking the same medication as you recieved and they said that if the medication doesn't relieve her migraine then it could be bleeding on the brain causing it.   They ran quite a lot of tests on her, but didn't do a CAT scan because she didn't have any more symptoms at the time.  But if she gets it again and the medication doesn't help it they will do a CAT scan of her brain.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Migranes suck, but are way better than all the other possibilities people were coming up with in this thread.

Whats even scarier is the fact that I bet many of us were actually researching the problem.

I dug through many of my physical assesment books checking for possibilies, one came up that was rather funny... I mean REALLY funny.

But it'd required him to have adema.

    FYI on zomig,

One side effect is a less serious but still scary thing you should know about. Continue to take Zomig and talk to your doctor if you experience this. tightness, heaviness, or pressure on a body part (other than the chest, neck, or jaw); Some confuse it for a heart attack, try not to freak out if it happens. If it doesnt go away shortly though its best to call a doctor. its scary but most of the time nothing serious.

Just trying to make sure you dont freak out about a heart attack, days after you where told go to the hospital for a stroke.

If only i could find a troll with a tin foil hat. =(

My family has no history of them, and I've never smoked.  Plus my blood pressure is fine.

I am sorry to confirm this, but your symptoms are those of a minor stroke.

Some people have it and they don't realize it.

    Symptoms and warning signs

The symptoms of a stroke vary depending on the type (ischaemic or haemorrhagic) and location of the stroke in the brain. They include:

    • numbness, weakness or inability to move the face, arm or leg on one side of the body
    • trouble with vision - sudden loss in one eye, or of vision in one area; double vision
    • confusion or difficulty understanding
    • difficulty speaking with swallowing (dysphagia)
    • problems walking, dizziness, loss of balance or co-ordination
    • severe headache

Go to the doctor, he should be able to tell you if you had a stroke.

Don't ignore it, make sure you don't have a heart problem man or you might regret it in the future.

I went to the doc.  It was a migraine.  She said that some migraines show the same symptoms as a stroke.  Scroll up and you'll see my big ol' long verbage of the experience.

Thanks for the concern though.  I appreciate it.   You people are so good to me.

Might have been a Hemiplegic/Hemiparalysis Migraine,not very common with out a stroke/tumor,but doctors confirmed it, no stroke. Does it suck, yah......but look on the bright side could of been worse.

Just wondering your legs where okay the whole time right?

Differential diagnosis includes focal seizures with postictal paralysis, mitochondrial cytopathies, intracranial hemorrhage (ruled out), mass, infection, or cerebral infarction (ruled out).
