I had to decided to return after chapter 6 onto my old account. Being i havnt played the game since 4 days after CU i digured wth drop 15 and try it once more. So after contacting SOE to get my account info back i type in my card and my account is now active. now time to see what all the fuss is about. I decide to log onto my old TKM/ CM. Wow am i anxious to play on my guy that i havnt seen for over 2 years i believe. I log on see me cloaked figure and think wow what a bad ###. But wait as soon as i log on 3 seconds later my game crashes with no warning. Hmmmmm wth is that about lets try this one more time log onto my char again and get booted once more...... Let try a different char hope on my Weaponsmith/Doctor same thing happens. Decide to contact Soe about the problem. After waiting for about 23 mins on the phone i get some guy who i cant understand who is telling me to delete files.... so i do and same thing happens. I contact an ingame gm about the problem an email is sent to me 2 days later telling me my graphics card might not work it ok. Hmmmm a 7900 gt not running SWG ok. I tell him i can run the trial fine. Waited another 4 hours get another email from a different person saying to delete the files again. Hmmm that didnt work before but wth maybe i missed somthing. S##t it doesnt work again. Another email is sent to them telling them i am pissed and that i want my account to f##king work. So now i have waited 2 days for a response and still nothing. God i can tell SOE loves there customers.
I hate u SOE

I'd say you probably have three choices:
1.) Delete your toon at the login screen. More than likely it's your pre-cu equipment that's causing the error.
2.) Ask customer support to have a GM strip your toon and place his items in his datavault.
3.) Cancel, and tell your credit card company that you aren't able to play what you paid for. They'll drop the charge off.
Edit: Actually, one more option. Use your trial account to get ingame, then request a GM.
Sounds like a bad installation or somthing, personally i've never crashed.
Try cleaning your registry, and reinstalling.
Making fun of customer service does nothing, after-all, you wanted help and they tried to give you it.
15 min from when I sent a ticket a GM contacted me in game, in fact still inside that same battle, and he saw the guy cheating and booted him...
Now thats service, polite fast , friendly, and fixed teh issue. ANd then made sure I didnt need help with anything else and sent me a thank you for using teh support system e-mail as well refering his personal ID GM number and how to contact him in furture for any help

I'd prefer to try and help the OP instead of flaming SOE.
Maybe it's just me but the latter just doesn't seem that important.

EDIT
By the way if your looking for help with the problem there are some current players that would be happy to help

No tha sad fact is You shouldn't have to offer help when ther eis staff paid to do it. I used my experiance in WOW as a example of the kind of service players should get and expect, and what Sony and ALL game companies should do.
Its nice you try to be helpful, But in all honestly the fact you have to help him on a mmorpg.com forum is testament to lack of support services from Sony to there paying players.

Well, there are people who pick up trash or 'rubbish' in real life, but that doesn't mean i can just drop my rubbish on the floor.
You said 'Missed the point' which made me believe that a helpful response wasn't what you were looking for, thus you wanted me to flame SOE instead of helping someone.
WoW may have more GM's, but WoW has around 75x the population of SWG, which calls for more GM's.
Rubish! You bigos! Rubbish! Gimmie back my sabre toothin.. Eat it.. Nug. Joooob in there we go omkay. Lauhfins! on your faces fig dig figadigin you lose! this time.. publicjed it on the papers.. bigot!

Intresting, you really think thats WHy I get a response in 15 min and he has to wait how long? WIth alot smaller Player base one would think that means SWG would have faster and better service then a monster size population with8.5 million accounts and 500+ servers ... right?
Oh and the point you missed I was refering to was what made him upset to begain with, HOW long it took to get replies, and teh fact afte rservral attaempts he is still having problems. THAT was his point which is why My referance to 15 min service in WOW was Directly relevent.

The first mistake the OP made was depending on SOE customer service. I find that if I risk playing an SOE game, which I do, if I can't solve the problem myself then it isn't going to get solved. I've had that outlook since EQ1 and SOE hasn't given me any reason to change it.
Edit: Oh, I wanted to state that problems with names might be an exception to the rule. When I was in EQ I requested an apostrophe be put in my last name. I've never seen them respond so fast before. I was so shocked that for a moment I couldn't type. That is all.
SOE has never had a "good" repuation for customer service in any of there games. in its prime in SWG best I ever saw was 2 hours for a GM to contact me.
But yes your right, I feel bad for the OP. he paid his money He should get treated with respect, as a valued customer. Yet he is handled with digregard, in-personal gernic replies, and NO WAY should a guest or customer ever be on hol don th phone for 20 minutes.
Im starting to think SOE was bought by microsoft LOL.

For one thing, there is a huge difference between customer service and a GM in ANY game.
Customer service = anyone who can type, even half-assed. No guarantee they've ever even played the game they're supporting.
GM = someone who more than likely knows the game, it's quirks, and has the ability to fix them since they spend 99% of their time with the game.
Like I said, try going ingame with a trial account and hitting up a GM directly, skip the phone peons unless you need help with billing.
I don't Know what your problem is I downloaded the trial and logon to my account just fine didn't have to load anything else.
Heres what I did:
1. Down loaded trial.
2. Used my old ID and Password
3. Game Loaded respected to Comando.
4. Started kicking newbie butt.
?????
Try That!

You would'nt know b/c you haven't played the game in quite some time....
Once again spewing straight jibberish trying to make fun of people. You might be the most clueless person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting.
Are you refering to yourself ? 6 toons 4 crafters 2 combat.
Must make you feel big to go on an internet forum and try to make fun of people that enjoy something you do not.
"Great minds discuss ideas, lesser minds discuss things, and shitheads get personal."
You're a tool. Why don't you just go away man? All you do is troll. SOE's customer service has always sucked. 5 days and his problem isn't resolved...
Go away imposter-troll.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black
Why are you here again?
Target Audience: I wanna be a Jedi!!!! I wanna get a bunch of cool stuff when I kill bad guys!!!! Crafting? What is that?
Calm down, 'arms report cannon' 'fires'.
Please stop ur incessant flaming.
Wow another 24 hours have went bye and i am still paying for characters i cant even use. God i so love SOE they are the best
Seems like the respec screen is responsible for crashing.
Try running SWG in a window (not fullscreen). And also try out different screen resolutions.
For what it's worth, the characters I created on day one are still there.
After resubbing recently, I logged them on only to have the character appear briefly onscreen at the starting point after the tutorial, then the profession selection popped up. Couldn't proceed unless I picked one.
It sounds like something is preventing the profession screen from appearing. Are you able to make a new toon and get them onto the planet ok?
Yes i am able to make a new toon and play with him as much as i want.
I remember what is was like when my old SWG guildmates and I were playing City of Heroes. Bugs were rare; that in itself was a surprise to us. When we did encounter one, it was a case where an NPC wouldn't follow us out of a building. Just for kicks, I contacted in-game support. We didn't really expect an answer. In less than 5 minutes though, in-game support sent me a tell, and fixed the problem immediately, getting the npc to follow me out. We were amazed.
In swg I had trouble with an npc not following me, it was that sith commander from the village mission. I sent a ticket, but got no reply to my ticket before the time ran out. In fact I got no reply to my ticket...ever. A number of people had the same experience, they also sent tickets. None of my friends ever got a reply. So we all decided to send in a bug report. About 3-4 months later, there was a patch to correct this issue.
One company responded in 3-4 minutes, the other in 3-4 months. I'm still playing games made by the company with the better response time. It's one small example of how much better they treat their players/customers.
SOE has a bad reputation regarding customer service.<--Reading that over just now seems like a remarkable understatement. If they want customers to enjoy their gaming experience, they need to change this. If they want to earn a positive reputation, they have a lot to make up for.
Arc
consumed by hate, the ways of the dark side are SOE's now.
Deception (NGE bait and switch) ,
Greed (coping WOW 9 class quest system tryin to steal subs) ,
Lust (for the best game in the industry title even tho the all ready were, they wanted more),
Envy ( to have the 8.5 million account wow ended up with that probably would have been there's had they never did NGE).
Pride ( they can't admit they made a bad choice and roll back or even open classic servers)
SWG was once, the very best of MMO's, the glimmering hope for games to come, sand box, real player made cities, and living crafter made economy... Once .. long ago, on a server far far away...
no more, now only a dark twisted shadow of a game that was once SWG has become.
something much more.. Iconic and star warsy (tm) ;p

I think it extremely likely that the culprit is something that your toons are currently wearing.
I recently returned as well, and I had a similar experience with one of my toons. She kept on crashing after I logged in...sometimes a few seconds and sometimes a few minutes. It turns out that the belt she was wearing was somehow incompatible with the game. I don't know if you have the time to do it, but try to unequip as much of your toons' equipment as quickly as possible. If you can't do it, try asking the customer support.
BTW, it is strange to be asking about this problem in this forum. I can guarantee that someone else has endured a similar problem if you search the official SWG troubleshooting forum.
So far my experience with customer support has been pretty decent. They have been a bit slow, but they were more than courteous and helpful.
lol ...yeah .. wanna know why? I know why...
there is your SWG support service answer!!!

I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, he pretty clearly needs to put the pipe down. On the other hand, rambling, incoherent internet dribble is what keeps me coming back for more!
