DX9>DX10?

I was checking out some cards and the new 2900 series from ATI uses DX10. They give a few pictures and videos showing the difference side by side. The thing is, DX9 gave clearer and more realistic terrain more often then not. My wife agreed that the DX10 only looked better over water and kinda looked like crap with less ground detail and less realistic shadows.

This page has a few examples. The link on the bottom has a pop up video with side by side DX9 and 10. Tell me if it's just my 20" HD monitor or does DX10 remove a lot of important elements.

Lighting and water looks a lot better in DX10 imo, there is less glare, but overall it's not really different enough to get that excited about...

From those videos Dx10 is a joke, and those videos are just horrible for both parts... it seemed to me it was switching sides a lot.  If you want to see Dx10 in work Google Unreal 3.

The only improvement DX10 has over DX9 is upscaled performance on mediocre machines.

If you're running a high-end machine it doesn't matter whether you're using 10 or 9.. they're going to look pretty similar.

But if you're running on a medium-level machine.. you'll get a few more FPS on 10 than if you were running 9... but even this is hard to prove sometimes...
