Diablo III (sort of)

Designed by Flagship Studios, the development team headed by Bill Roper, the original design guru of the Diablo seres.
Mythos is probably the closest successor to the Diablo tone and style. Best of all it will be free.
As I understand it, it's a technology demo for them in order to ensure they have their networking set in place successfully for their true masterwork Hellgate: London.
I'm hoping for some true mouse-click hack-and-slash, old-school Diabloesque fun.

Yay, Diablo II was bunches of fun.
I just hope an actual Diablo III will come to a store near me soon.
Only rumours flying around though - nothing really substantial. 
Hellgate:London is the Diablo 3, as far as being the next gen killer action online RPG.
No it's the same world or story (you did play Diablo for the story right?), and no it doesn't have an isometric oblique top-down viewpoint. But it is made by proven action RPG experts and it does have demons.
Boht Mythos and Hellgate:London are made by Flagship studios, which is primarily composed of ex-Blizzard employees who created the Diablo and Diablo 2 franchise.

Interesting..but the official website is kinda borked right now.
Okay... tried again after a few minutes the website is back.
They split the diablo 2 game into 2 pieces, mythos and hell gate london. Both are gonna be worse for this reason in my opinon, Ive had enough fighting orcs and crap and I dont want to play a slow paced fps game. There wont be the endless hordes of monsters diablo 2 had simply because it'd be to laggy, I have even heard aiming is useless in the game...
Actually, I've seen some clips and screens of quite a few little mobs on the screen, all attacking and being killed at once. I'd link it for you if I could find it, but it would take forever, as I've watched many many videos.
The fact is however, that the mobs die so fast, that you'd definately need lots of mobs continously, or else it would be a bit boring.
I think Hellgate is going to be an awesome game.
As far as Mythos, who knows, it could be awesome as well. Heck it free, so I'm not going to complain.
The Mythos screenshots look like old-generation graphics to me. They remind me of UO, which was a good game but no longer viable in 2007.

as long as we get more resolution options, and it looks ok then I'd buy it.
I'm sick of all these new games that claim to have great graphics, but are just boring as watching gnats breed.
I miss the third person isometric games that were truly fun games... read: Diablo, Jagged Alliance, Baldur's Gate etc, Fallout...
I'm sick of all these first person, "great graphics"... seriously, a MMO will never be able to touch a true FPS game with regard to graphics, so all you people harking about graphics in MMO, please grow up.
We play MMORPG's for the gameplay... so what if the graphics are a little outdated?
(EDIT: sorry, we play MMO's because no one's making good RPG's anymore)

This game is to actually test some of the stuff for Hellgate. They threw this game together real fast so they could test their stuff without giving away info about the real game. All in all it should be pretty fun, someone with an invite needs to start the chain on the open beta forum.
