Everquest 1 still as fun and addicting then most MMOs out there

So i brought EQ1 annaversery edition and to be honest its alot of fun, i play on the combine progression server and there were ALOT of lowbies to level up and group with and i made some friends so far on my short time of play. I recommend EQ again to any one that is tired of these current MMOS like EQ2 and WoW and come try EQ again.

Oh ya and thegames still heavily populated, not as populated as EQ2 or WOW by any meansbut the servers are still healthy go to direct2drive.com and buy the annaversery for 20$ it has every expansion pack. and play on the combine server. Its 100x easier to catch up.

I dunno EQ2 was dead when i played it, couldn't find a group for anything in mid level range.

I play on the FREE, private, and HACK-free private server, and that server has "A LOT" of lowbies in it.  It is also like the Classic server, unlike the hack-filled and zerg-guild Live server.

I cannot name it by name because it is a violation of MMORPG, but one does exist and it is a hell of a lot better than Live. Oh, btw, I have an active 70 Wizard on Combine.

Im newcomer in EQ1, and found it pretty good. Lots of friendly people around, endless amount of content (5 times more then WoW+BC)

I might give EQ another shot if I run out of things to play but right now I am trying to minimize my MMO time and spend more time doing chores and exercising. I remember back in 2000 and EQ is the hottest thing around ... I got a lvl 65 magician and the corpse runs are a pain in the butt esp if you die deep in Lower Guk or something. Downtime is pretty heavy in EQ so you spend 3 mins fighting and 10 minutes sitting on your butt regaining your mana esp if you're a caster. I heard they fixed this so downtime is pretty low now.

well, technically, if you're into heavy lifting it is more ideal to lift heavy for 1-2 hours, 3-4 times a week and then sit on your ass and eat (see: good clean food like chicken fruits and veggies) the rest of the time. it's an amazing lifestyle that i <3

There is no incentive that would ever get me to play EQ again.  How many expansions does the game have now?  12+?  Yikes.

You can buy it at most game stores. I found it at stores like Staples and EB Games. So if you have any thing like that around check it out.

Play on those progression servers that just opened so you start off fresh with everyone.

The way I heard it the progression servers are primarily infested by uber guilds who try to complete content as quickly as possible.  Haven't they combined the two progression servers as they have unlocked everything already?

The progression servers did not just open.  The progression servers have been opened for at least a year or so.  I think maybe two years now?  Edit:  they were launched, I think, in June of 2006.  But there is only one server now.

No, there are not new characters running around.  If you run into an even an alt, take a screenshot and post it here.  I would be very surprised, ha ha!   Everyone has quit or is quitting.  SOE merger one progression server with the other because it was a ghost town.  The only people playing are hackers and raiders.  Seriously.

The only way to play semi-classic and with new players is the free server, which I cannot name.
