RIP Horizons?

All websites down, and apparently a power outage ate everything ??  Wouldn't surprise me if it never came back online.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if EI didn't have the decency to actually announce it was closing the game down, either.

I loved playing Horizons, and even some aspects of the game appeal to me, and I've been playing WoW, and GW off, and on recently.  There are so many schools you can join, and level up in.  I loved the fact that I could be a Sorcerer, Wizard, Blood Mage, and so on.  It seemed there were so many classes you could be when compared to WoW or even GW.

I played a Spearman, and had a Blood Mage.  I'd look, and very rarely would anyone be on as that same class.  People always helped me, and were polite in the game.  I really enjoyed the Bipedal races even more so than the dragons.

I'm not a big crafting guy, but even that was okay in HZ.  It's just a shame that this game was not executed like it should, and I still think it has a lot of potential if it were owned by people who updated the content, fixed the billing system, and kept trying to code the client to not lag as bad as it does.

It's a joke EI/PMI or whatever they call themselves this month neglect a game like Horizons, and update the content of an NES graphic looking game called Savage Eden.  If they were smart they would have continued in the direction the previous owners were going with updating the content, and trying to get new customers.

Even after playing CoH/CoV/WoW and GW I still kind of miss playing Horizons due to the fact that I am not locked into one class till the day I die.  The most fun I've had since Horizons would have to be Guildwars followed up by City of Villains.

I'm currently playing WoW because of RL friends.  I can't get into it though, not enough classes or races.  Character diversity is a joke, and the community is laughable.  Same goes for GW in that respects, CoH/CoV had a great community as did Horizons.

Time to go find 10 Pig skins, and 5 vulcher bones in WoW TTYL!!!

Is it just the websites that are down or are the servers down as well?

The servers were brought back online yesterday evening.  You have to use the Horizons Launcher program to log in and play though.

EI gives an ETA of "July 18th" for the websites and forums to come back online.
