A few questions...

Whats the death penalty?

Are there going to be any transportation features? (Like the boats and zeppelins in WoW etc.)

Do you summon the mount, or do you need to go back to them every time you need to ride? (I hope so)

Well, heres the thing..  There aren't really any official answers to these questions, since the game is still in beta and the NDA is active..

BUT, from some little tid-bits i've seen in videos, the death penalty seems to be a small measure of XP loss. (Which you could gain back from getting your "corpse"...)  The devs were saying how it gives back so little xp it won't really matter if you go back for it though.

I remember them saying there will be boats and other types of transport somewhere along the line..  I'm kinda sketchy on that though.

And the mount one i have no friggin idea. lol   All i've seen is someone partially hop on a horse in the wilderness, but not summon one or anything.

     Hope that helps.

They said the kingdom with unfinished zones that isolate it,I believe stygia has a boat. They have said no xp loss from death and in the priest of mitra description it says the negative affects upon resurrection lessen with the higher lvl rezzes.

I do remember hearing somewhere when you call your mount it isn't just going to poof appear like other mmo's, it is going to come galloping out from the horizon to you when called.

From videos they've shown with mounts (like the small quest where he's supposed to protect a caravan), the mount just "pops up".

    From the FAQ:

To keep the game true to the lore, there is a small or big journey between the different regions by either boat, horse and so on. Players do not actually move up to a zone-line and then teleport to the region, because some of the regions in Age of Conan are often far apart on the world map. Instead you select different ways of traveling such as by horse, boat and other means of transportation. As an example, to travel from Stygia to Cimmeria on foot in a real-life sense of way would mean a lot of running. This is a game after all, so we try to design the experience to be as fun as possible.

    So I guess they'll have boats :)

As far as I've heard, there shouldbe many different types, like horses, camels, elefanants (?) and so on!

as far as death penalty goes, I have no clue...

boats look like they are incorporated in the game however, and to me running from place to place would be an exciting feature because I love to explore the vast terrains of MMOs

As far as the death penalty goes, assuming you died under normal circumstances, you respawn at a temple/altar/holy place with a significant but temporary debuff on your stats and items. I am not aware of the details, but apparently it is high enough that going straight back to the battlefield, unless the trip took long enough that the debuff wore off, would be foolhardy suicide. Note: these sites and hub cities will be the only FFA PvP free areas on some servers, to prevent chain killing.

Now, the exceptions to the above are that:

A.) Funcom is still considering having special servers with some kind of item looting/loss system.

B.) Characters with a significant amount of Soul Corruption will go to hell and have to fight to reclaim their soul before respawning. (This is mainly a concern for mages, but other classes have at least a chance at experiencing it as well)

C.) Some classes such as the Preist of Mitra have a ressurection spell that brings a PC back on the scene with a highly reduced version of the aforementioned debuff, further advantages and disadvantages of this ability remain unknown.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
