The World of Warcraft flying mounts page has been updated with a look at Nether Rays and Nether Drakes, and their various colours.

The Sha'tari Skyguard Nether Rays and the Netherwing Nether Drakes are epic flying mounts that are obtained by gaining reputation with their associated Burning Crusade factions. See these new mounts in their available colors on our Flying Mounts page.

Hahaha what a responses, hope these reply's came from people actualy not playing any games well it can't be reponses from gamers now can it?. As they seem to be unaware of how games work. Instead of seeing them react its cool to see more flying mounts in WOW and all the other stuff that can be done with Flying Mounts all i read is sad little wanna-be gamers that seem to have no opinion.

The following made flying mounts even intresting to maybe look into somewhat more, but as we see at the first couple of reply's its again "limited minds" they only see grind.

Additional Information

Hit the space bar (jump) to climb vertically in the air, much like a Harrier jet. Once in the air, you can control your flying mount exactly the same way as a land mount, with the additional element of going up and down. While flying or swimming the 'X' key will make you move down.
The normal flying mounts increase your speed in land and air by 60%. This is slower than the ground speed of an epic land mount, which increases speed by 100%. While the normal flying mount may seem a worse option than the epic land mount, keep in mind that you can simply fly over most enemies, as well as over impassable or rough terrain such as in Blade's Edge Mountains. This can save considerable travel time over an epic land mount.
Any item, effect, or enchantment that would affect land mount speed also applies to flying mounts. These include Carrot on a Stick, Mithril Spurs, Riding Crop, Crusader Aura, and the glove enchant for mount speed.
The Riding Crop provides a 10% speed boost to ground and air mounts. It does not stack with any other enchant or speed boosting object so once you have it, that's all you need. (Carrot on a Stick, you've served me well!)
The Paladin can travel faster than anyone else while using the Crusader Aura speed buff. This is a 20% boost to land and flying mount speed.
When using the riding crop, the epic flying mount is only 10% slower than the flying mount taxis! The epic flying mount travel time can be significantly shorter than a taxi because you can take direct routes - as opposed to the scenic routes that the taxi normally takes.
You cannot remount if you get off your flying mount while in the air, because you are moving. You will have to land (hopefully at a non-fatal speed) before you can get on your mount again.
Splat! Along those lines, if you get off your mount while too high, hopefully you have a device or spell that will slow you down, such as Slow Fall, Levitate, or an engineering device.
For aerial daredevils, you can try to dismount and attack other players in-air - again, hopefully you have some way of slowing your fall after your combat maneuver.
Most forms of crowd control abilities, such as Polymorph, Fear, and even the Discombobulator Ray (awww) do not work against players on flying mounts.
Be careful flying your mount around enemy towns - they usually have an elite aerial guard patrol, which can literally kill you before you hit the ground.
If you log out while on a flying mount, you'll still be on it when you come back.
There are certain areas you cannot go while flying. You may run up into an invisible wall and a message will indicate that you can travel no further.
If you happen to die in too remote of an area while flying, you may have to use a Spirit Healer to recover your body. Ouch!
Some "secret" places in Outland are only reachable by flying mount.
There are all sorts of interesting things to discover with your flying mount. For example, many floating objects including tiny islands are scattered around Outland. Have fun exploring!

It's not that you can't, but if you realy want a Netherdrake or a Nether Ray, you are going for it whatever is struggling (atleast that worked for me, and im a proud member of a Onyx Netherwing Drake for a month+ )

They are really awesome and ppl will remember your name when your the first to have such a mount ^_^

Well Reklaw, there are lots of playstyles amongst gamers right? You are obviously the socializer (altho I fail to see how you are succesful at that from all the heckling posts you make about smallminded ppl ).

But then theres the achiever, explorer, killer to name a couple (ye from that test someone posted earlier haha, I'm a lazy bum). I'm sure someone can post alot more, and without these you'd be playing SWG with only a handful of players on each server (almost like now haha j/k ). Can you imagine WoW with only socializers? Servers would be empty and WoW would be the little midget of MMOs, not the giant. WoW is built around keeping ppl grinding and 'achieving' to keep them paying subs for months to come.

Its funny such a response like this as if i meant there was some deeper meaning behind it, all this because i said its nice mmorpg.com posted this to share this info and all i saw was people not intrested in this topic, so why respond if some don't care or consider it something negative, once you find the reason why i have posted you might not have to act like a some wierd strange outof this world type of additude next time you reply.

Ask yourself this.... is it WOW? If so, then it will be a grind....

Faction grinding.. ugh.... the worst aspect of WOW.... (yes, even worse than raiding)

Edit: Always forget to stay on topic.... Flying mounts sound great....they add a lot to the new areas of the game.....

but can you fight on them? If so, that's really cool

Yes its a rep grind but its not go out and kill 5000 mobs, the last few patches added a new quest/rep system blizzard added, you no longer have to go out and kill a 5000 mob (can if you want), now you can completed repeatable daily quests. For example to get the netherray you can currently do 3 daily quests (total of 10/day) these include;

Bombing run 1 - drop bombs on eggs from your player controled flying mount while avoiding giant birds (easy)

Bombing run 2 - drop bombs on stock piles from your player controlled flying mount while avoiding flak cannons (no so easy)

Netherray wrangle - capture 5 netherrays (easy)

All 3 can be completed within 30mins and you'll get a nice amount of gold and about 1000rep

This is a great addition and Im currently revered got about 6k left to get my nether ray, so if I do these quests every day I'll have it by next weekend

From what i hear the mounts cost upwards of 5000 gold now if you ahve that much gold spare then no its not such a grind to get one [assuming the gold is all you need to get one]. Otherwise its all a Grind Grind Grind.

This is another example of the carrot ona stick method Blizzard uses to keep peiple palying just like BC where you had to grind 10 new levels and get new level 70 gear in order to be competative which meant a good month or 2's grinding and 2 more months subscription. And now we get this a few months after the expansion.

Now whats the bet that in 2-3 months time sonething else will be released that needs a ton of grinding to get [about 2-3 months worth in time for the next carrot].
