Do you think there will be a new AC one day agian, i know i never got to play ac2 but so you think they will remake ac or some thing all upgraded and new?
Man, and here i thought you actually had some sort of a news or rumor about one. I never played AC but AC2 was what broke virginity to MMO's.
I was soo addicted to that game until the nerf bats got too big, which at the end turned out to be we were playing a beta and paying for it rather then a fully developed game. I just hope i never fall on that trap again, im sure some people have with some of the mmo's lately.
If Turbine continues to do well I think we will see another AC. They have a whole world and fanbase already. Though I hope they don't call it AC. The game needs a new image. They should name it something like Call to Dereth or Call to Aubern.
Also kind of on the subject, I wonder what Turbine's next game will be? I'm sure they are working on DDO and LotRO expansions, but they must have something else in the works. It's too soon for another AC. I only want to play AC3 when AC1 is completely dead.
At this point I think Turbine will keep AC going as long as it possibly can just for the exposure alone. AC give Turbine tons of old school street cred in the MMO community. It was never as successful as UO or EQ but it may last just as long or longer then those games do. I would think Turbine will be putting all their efforts into LoTRO and DDO for the next year and making sure both of those games have maximum support. It looks like AC will last at least another year, so the earliest another AC game will come out will probably be 2009.
Well I have very very fond memories of AC and can't say I have played a better MMORPG ... thats untill the bots macros and ease merchants arrived. It would be nice if the original design team of AC were to develop another title and I can't believe that the ones who developed AC2 were those same designers. It would be interesting to know if they were.
Excelent game fond memories of a corpse run adn 9 corpses to collect with umbris all around. good good days..:)

Sorry.. it's actually in production and it's called
"call of vaedur"
Unfortuantely, it's just a prank call where i say something about your mother and hang up.. kinda depressing yes, but that's what turbine is working on currently.
AC ROCKED i would play ac3 without hesitation, but i hope they call it AC2.. infact, they have a game 'ac2' that would be awesome redone with a better character system..
heck lotr and ddo are all the same engine as ac2..
ac1 is wonderful and has everything a good game needs, play it or leave it, but i dont think we need a ac3
the one thing ac2 had over ac1 was a much better combat system. AC2 combat was the best I have ever played in a MMO so far. I really wish they would have the engine as finely tuned as they do for LoTRO back then. If you had any sort of 10 v 10 pvp battles my computer would lag up like crazy. AC1 non mage combat is nothing to write home about. Also the class system was very unique along with the races that you could choose. The updated graphics were also really nice.

I played LoTRO, and wasn't impressed with the combat at all. AC1 combat is very unique, and takes into account the person playing the games skill as well as the toon's ability. Even if you are an 'uber' toon, if ya gots no skill, you can be punked by some one quite a bit smaller than you.

Actually, if they fixed up AC2 and got it %100 polished and back online I'd probably try it out again. Then again, it would be awesome too if they made a game with a different name that was just set in the Asheron's Call universe and used all the Lore. It could take place After AC2 when Dereth could presumably be completely replenished and functional again. There's tons of possibilities but unfortunately it seems Turbine doesn't really comprehend what a gem of a game AC is/can be. They''ve kind of taken the cash-cow route with the major franchises and forgot how great the AC Lore and Story really is.
ac1 is wonderful and has everything a good game needs, play it or leave it, but i dont think we need a ac3
Updated graphics. Better themed. Everything expect for a new game; fill in or add what the preceder didn't have. Some people feel outdated and ghostly.
AC2 was good but they put it out way to soon. We were all still having way to much fun in AC to move, they should have waited a couple more years when we started to get tired of the original. I would try AC2 again if they ever decided to republish it. I still haven't found any other game to get me hooked the way AC did for over 5 years
I have to agree. I played AC from 99-05 (with a revisit in 06). I keep hoping Turbine promotes a "Station Pass" style of subscription so I can get my AC fix any time I want.
The problem is all the old AC players ever wanted was updated graphics. Give us AC2 graphics and things like musical instruments ( that was a cool addition) and we'd be happy. Oh and the swimming action.
We ( veteran AC players) were happy with AC with the content updates. I played the AC2 beta and thats what we kept telling them at Turbine. Thats one of the first things that hook people is how good it looks. Can you just imagen how all the old AC haunts would look with more realistic looking graphics?
Well plus all the other cool new features they have the tech for. Auction Houses, Mounts, Mail, Better crafting and maybe a few instanced raids all set in the AC1 world with a better revamp of melee and missle combat. clicking low med and high will not cut it as far as combat goes these days.
Also let us play lugians and tumeroks again. I wish there was a way to combine AC1's skill base system with AC2's Skill tree system. The skill trees were the funnest leveling path I have played in a MMO so far.
Then you might as well just design another game. The reason people like AC is the way it plays and the Lore. Do all the other stuff you mentioned and you just have another game. We veteran players just want the graphics up dated mainly. All the stuff you mentioned makes it another WoW.
True vets of the game want updated graphics yes. The vets that actually PLAYED the game also want a fresh start without all the bots. The main reason I left AC was due to all the bots in the game. Whatever Turbine does I hope its innovative now that they followed the static clone that every mmo has been using for a while now. Not WoW clone just an MMO clone. Nothing truly "new" has been added to an MMO in a long long time.
I agree with the no bot rule. I played the game the first 40 lvls with no magic and using only the magic in the armor I found and bought as a buff. I went in the game as an archer, as I would have in AD&D, archers arent magic.
And I say to the people who want this tweeked and that tweeked in the game, if you don't like how it plays go to another game that does.
Asheron's Call 2 needs to be relaunched now, if ever. Turbine has there name out there now in the MMORPG market due to the release of Lord of the Rings Online.
I believe it is ready for a release, the game was at its best when the expansion came out and more addictive than ever. The game had a excellent crafting system, great game play, it was casual and hard-core gamer friendly.
I played AC1 6 months before AC2 was released and enjoyed it so much. I played AC2 from the launch, until the closure. There was so much to the game three races at the beginning then two more in the expansion, a total of twenty two unique classes.
The game had competitive PvP all types of servers (with the exception of Darktide, everyone appeared to be allied ). I myself played on Frostfell, Coldeve and Darktide. Coldeve was by far the funnest experience in MMORPGs I've ever had. I loved the faction system and the ability to change factions at anytime (2 week grace period and 500,000 gold charge).
I personally think that the game should be renamed to something other than Asheron's Call 2 but still have a related title since the lore itself does not exactly tie right into the Asheron's Call 1 lore and the game play is very different (I like it better than AC1 and I think now that AC1 is getting old more AC1 players would like to give the game another try, if not their first try.
I do agree that the game was released way too fast at the beginning but now that most of the bugs are ironed out and Hero2.0 truly balanced most of the classes and is near perfect (they need to reduce the reflect and fix the HoT bug).
Odysses, I want my Bounty Hunter back as I'm sure you do . We did have some good duels towards the end, I'm sure you'd agree. You were definatly one of the hardest I have dueled. It was also fun playing with you on DT in 'The Gladiators'.
AC2 can't be relaunched don't u remember the skills were so unbalanced that they had to close it. If it could have been balanced they would have done so but in essence they couldn't and lost. Anyways back on topic and that's, there is a rumor floating around that they are doing AC with the AC2 engine the same engine as LOTRO(PhysX compatible).
I remember your BH Lmah, a shield BH with a nasty tast for defenders im i right? hehe
I, my self, migrated from Thistledown to frostfell in the end. Called our guild "Thistledown Terroists".. damn that was a fun time, PvP hell in Cragstone! The reflect was a bitch, but I think all the blame was on the focus egg, not the skills.. (skills and classes was very balanced after Legion xpack)
If we ever get the chance to play again, I hope they drop the level cap down to 70-75 or something - for the sake of PvP balance.
Well, I lost 4 duels on my BH at 150. I went 6-3 (did a best of 10, he won the first 3 I think) with Odysses which was a BH. Also lost once to Butt Love which was a Jug.
I never had trouble with defenders. Even way way back when the game started.
And Bes, yes I remember you. One of the few that stayed 'til the end.
The PvP at level 150 was very fun, I do not agree with a level cap though. Since I did like to power level, I had a level 86 Zealot that I retired 2 months before the closure announcement. I never really liked my tonk
Okey, maybe its not so much a level cap I want, but a magic/melee/missile/hero mastery skill cap i want, so it would be possible for a level 50-60 to hit a level 86 zealot
even so, in AC2 the lvels are just a number after lvl 75, its the Xp that counts....
PS.. Yeah I remember Odysses being a BH, acually i remember him being a Defender also for awhile, but he played on thistledown and did craft many of my weapons. I came to Frostfell as a lvl 150 so i only rememeber you as BH. There is one character on Frostfell which i remember very well. A 2" Lugian Zerker named SpawnofNatas, or something like that. He always came out of nowhere, took a blitzkreig on us and then vanished again..lol good times.
