I'm not going to argue about whither Vanguard is good or bad. Whatever....
As an SWG Vet though that has been floating around the Web since the NGE looking for something to fill that "Void" I have to admit, Vanguard is the only game out there that does that.
Has a nice laid back friendly community. Plenty of RP. A Open World, very similar to SWG's World. Also has the same Housing and many other features are the same.
Yah It's got buggy Mobs and Game Play, but so did SWG. The crafting isn't on Par yet but it is heading in that direction....Hopefully they will be able to offer more fluff like clothing and stuff cause that was a really neat feature in SWG.
Anyway, Thats my 2 Cents. I Played the Beta, I played at Release, I quit and now I just recently re-subscribed.
So If you were like me, Trying every MMO Released, and it just not having what you were looking for, Give this a Try. Just be prepared to see a game in similar shape as SWG was at launch, a Game with so much potential that will most likely never be seen.

To each its own.
I really enjoyed Vanguard, and I wanted to stick with it. But, the biggest problem that I just couldn't handle was the population levels. Everything else about the game I loved, but you can't play a MMO by yourself. I mean, you COULD, but it's not nearly as fun as it could be.
I'll be moving to AOC when it releases. Right now, I can't seem to find a good MMO to play.

Just wondering who are u going to play with when u cant find anyone to grp? I would rather be playing WAR beta than this crap.
I had the same issue as the above poster. Just nobody else was ever around for me to play with. And my PC that can handle EQ2 on ultimate settings could barely handle VG on Medium. I like eye candy and VG won't let me have it
It was fun though, I really liked the diversity of race/class.
So I join the ranks of many MMO players who are left waiting and wanting better.
Edit: Cough syrup hangover and made a stupid typo
Yah, It's funny you mention the population. The real reason I left SWG wasn;t so much the NGE, It was the mass exodus it caused.
I play MMO's to play with thousands of other people.
Anyway, They do have a Massive Server Merge going down in about a week. So that is why I resubbed, Word must have gotten out about it because the POP has been much better than it was when I left, and I think alot of people who are on now are in the same boat as me.
The game stunk, they left, couldn't really find anyting to fill the "Void", Heard about the up comming Merger, and Re-Subbed.
When I left I would run a /who outside of Khal (A Good area to judge People Count) and would get 8 -15 People. Since I returned I run a /who and see about 25-35 , Not good, but better.
Hopefully with the Merge, It will give a full return of 40 (40 in the Max Who Return you can get in VG).

Populations have only dropped since the initial announcement of the server mergers, as illustrated in Hasium's reasoning for merging Florendyl in his most recent announcement about server mergers. So that's just wishful thinking believing populations have actually risen, even though you've experienced a personal phenomena of seeing more people it seems.
So no, Vanguard isn't out of hot water yet when it comes to losing subscribers and lessening in player activity. There's no big re-subscription influx going on.
true it went down initially, but from what people are saying it's starting to rise again. is this true or just a bit of playmaking? i have recently started again but have no idea if it's rising as i was away for about 4 months. it would be interesting if we could see some numbers of the last 3 weeks. any VG players out there can comment on numbers?
