With a stated release date in '2009' [sorry no link, no time but not hard to find] I would imagine they wouldn't keep mum about it for THAT much longer... then again who knows...

Man i subscribe to bioware's newsletters. They seem to whip out SO many new games it's not funny.I really got tired of looking at them all.I'll ask you a fair question in return ok?Do you honestly think bioware will spend the time it takes to make a mmorpg FULL of content?I think the mass in surgence of so many developers,is that they stand back and look at WOW and think wtf? that game isn't that good,i'm sure we can make a better game. The problem most of these developers have is, one maybe two cool ideas and try to whip out a fast product based of these two ideas. What's even more distraught is to look no further than vanguard's demise. That game had some deffinate graphic glitches but beyond that, the game had 20x the content of anything out there including WOW,and it couldn't sell.

So what exactly are people looking for?Who knows really ,tons of people including myself can guess. They want it easy and fast and a large player base to hang with.No one is going to ,well cept maybe me ,applaud any developer for putting out a great game that is full of content.Anyone can add a game engine with no flaws and add in levels and gear and call it a MMORPG.The problem with "GREAT GAME" status is that it has to be error free, content simple and lots of players to have any survivability. It seems the masses really don't want a very good game ,just anything will do.I guess EA sports is next to jump into the fray who knows.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

if bioware gets the black isle studio that made baldurs gate togeather again, to make a forgotten realms sandbox mmo it would become the greatest selling mmo of all time, muhahahaha!!!

    baldur's gate 1 ftw!

it would also have the highest count of DE rangers named "drizzzrt"

I would challenge your assertion, since almost everyone makes games with bad engines, tons of flaws, but I'll grant you, lots of levels and gears.  And saying that the masses don't want a good game is incorrect, they got one, its called WOW..and it suits their needs pretty well.

Sure, it might not be what you and I are looking for, but that doesn't mean the game is bad...its just not for us.....

I think, the same reasons for "any great game" valid for MMOs too. The logic behind the development is important, if your priority is making money, then Wow is a great game, but if your priority is the Complete creativity and the artistic side with all arcitecture, dialogs, planets, etc, then we can expect a "Great" game from Bioware..

It still will have to be seen, Bioware has a few very good RPG games under their name (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinters Night anyone ;)). But this doesn't guarantees a success in the mmorpg branch. But well the players will expect nothing less of them, and I don't have to tell you what high expectation could do to a game.

Imo, it is impossible to announce at 2009, cause it would be a very very Bad Advertisment, I mean they release the game on 2009, they will say the Title a couple of months ago before the announcement ?

Thats stupid man, They should do it AT LEAST 1 year ago,  so people and fans would have enough time to talked about game, open websites, Discuss and Spread the name of the game, I think end of 2007 or beginning of 2008 is a good Date for announcment.

Easy, as it won't be out by 2009. Every MMORPG Developer sets a date and every time that date slips or worse yet the entire project gets canned. Most MMO's tell you right up front what they are about, if you believe that Bioware will have their MMO out in one and half years and haven't even decided on a setting yet thats kinda scary

Oh, they've decided on a setting.

They just haven't told us what it is yet. And personally, I think they're being smart about it. There is way more hype about this in-development game because they haven't said anything yet, than there would be if they just told us, say, "It's Baldur's Gate Online", and left it at that.

I think that alot of the "Failures" we see in MMORPGs these days are due to the fact that they are looking at WoW and trying to do one up on it. But you have this player base in WoW that does not want to start over in a new world, learn new skills and just do it all from scratch, they have a game they like and they do not want to leave it. That said it will take a VERY good game to accomplish this.

I have left WoW 2 times now and came back a few months later each time, try this game or that, and in the end it is just not as enjoyable to me. Granted I have cut playtime WAY down since returning this time, I am a very casual player, I think if a grp of folks from WoW left then you would get followers, it is easier to go to a new game as a guild or a group then solo!

If this is the MMO that Bioware licensed the Hero Engine for then I would expect a late 2009 early 2010 release. It's been a full year now since they licensed the engine and theoretically, it's supposed to cut development time by 2 years. So if a game would normally take 5 or 6 years to develop you could do it in 3 or 4 with the Hero Engine. I don't know when exactly Bioware actually started working on this game so maybe 2009 is a little too soon. I think 2010 is more likely. Hopefully no later than that. If that's the case then there's no reason to release any details 2 1/2 - 3 years in advance. A lot of things about the project can and probably will change between now and then and that would only upset fans that are expecting one thing and ended up getting another. Even if they just release the name of the game then you're going to have so many different opinions from fans about what the game should and shouldn't have. When Bioware is ready to release info. They shouldn't release it just because fans want them to.

They bought 4-5 Licences for this game man and 2 of them about graphicss and animation, They will cut the lenght of development time more then 2 years,  I think They would Release it much sooner than we expected, beginning of 2009 maybe...
