Taking the example of WoW, we can see that the 3 major player bases are North America, the EU and China.
China has 3 times as many WoW players as either NA or the EU, but the majority of the revenue is returned from the western sales.
Games are written for the people who pay, not the largest population base. EU and US aimed titles will dominate the market.
We want western style games and we can pay for them. Expect plenty more western orientated titles than for any other cultures.
Asian grindfests aren't grind fests because they are asian and asians like to grind, they are grindfests because many of the games they are playing are old skool games that predate the quest system.
Similarly, "Chinese gold sellers" are invariably Mexican if you are playing in NA and Eastern European if you are playing in the EU.
Just because everyone else in the world thinks grinding games are fun doesn't mean they are for everyone. I want to get the facts stright for a few / a lot of you posters out there who say games suck because their a Asian grind fest even though you have never played them. And to all you people who say the Asian style games are not popular, suck and just lack content.
No-one says that asian games aren't popular in asian. They are saying they aren't popular in western countries. Some of western players even like asian games, but most of us don't. Reason is they are too simple griding games and many of them doesn't have western languages.

As of right now from a private study based out South Korea threw Daewon Science College and a few other colleges.
there are currently well over 80 million pc video gamers but could not put a real number on it since they stated it was to hard to find the numbers. With no real records of computers and games sold in most EU, Russian and Asian based counties and the mass amount of file sharing in Asian based counties the numbers were to hard to pin-point.
Roughly 45 million+ are located in Russia/Japan/China/South Korea and neighboring counties Roughly 20 million+ in EU to Africa Roughly less then 8 million (Active gamers) in the US but growing higher. ( Roughly 1million-2 million a year) <-- no clue how they know but their Korean And the rest thrown into Canada and Mexico/South America.

I highly doubt that 8 million number. Maybe 8 million people have played or play MMO games, but the video game industry is huge in the US. They showed that Blizzard makes 100 times more money in America on WoW then in all of China. So really which market is better for their bottom line?
