Bottom line, WAR will be great, if nothing else because it will be new and different. Love or hate WoW, it's not new and shiny any more, although I admit I'm very curious about what Blizzard will do next with that title. We need more 5 million+ games out there, and I suspect over time more and more people will be happy to play more than one MMO, the rise of cross-game guilds in particular encourages that.
Whoa whoa whoa! They said 300,000 signed up! I don't recall them ever saying all 300,000 would get in. However, Paul Barnett did say at one Games Workshop day that if you had signed up (around the time of 200,000) you would get in.

Heh, well at least I signed up for beta minutes after the betacenter launched and started to accept beta apps. Still waiting for a invite !!
The best loot is awarded to peoples who raze enemy capital solely, thereby it is meant for PvP, not PvE-grouping. They have to fix this, and they don't want to...
And this is exactly why they would have troubles to break the 1 millions sub significantly. I have no doubt they will reach it...but breaking far away from it, upward...as long as the best loot is earnable only in PvP, I don't see that happening.
See, the market is roughtly twice bigger for a new game (it is a lot bigger then twice then what it used to be, but the competitors are also there), and they have a franchise power which is again twice more sub...takes DAoC subs and do a X4 and that will give you a fairly good idea of how the game will do. If they have less then that, they do poorly...if they have more, they do awesome. Getting X4 what DAoC uses to have at it peaks would only be redoing DAoC performance success-wise...which is very nice in itself. I just wish they would aim for more. Such as adding PvE-server that are group centered (not gaheris-whoring, we don't want that).
You do realize that only a handful of MMOs have reached 500K let alone 1 million right. If WAR caps at or over 1 million it will be considered a monumental success by industry standards. I am not talking free games... but actually paid subscriptions... I don't believe there have been more then 4 or 5.
Hopefully WAR will be more then loot whoring... so your point may be moot. If the game has a good balance of skill and itemization you would never have to PvP. They have also stated a player can play through everything without touching PvP though at higher stages it gets tougher not to. I don't get why you want to play a game that is centered around conflict yet you want no conflict.
Your logic makes absolutely no sense... $1 = $1... having a larger consumer base to pull from does not change that fact. Even if they hit DAoC sub numbers it will still be considered a successful venture as it will be profitable... It just won't dazzle anyone. If they get even twice the subscribers you talking a significant increase in profits.
DAoC only peaked at 250K subscribers so hitting even 1/2 a million would be a nice chunk of change for them.

Warhammer is not Vanguard. They are two completely different games. War is PVP, and Vangard was created for the Hardcore PVE whore.
Actualy it was created for grouping for online play get your facts straight.

-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I should have signed up with a guild
I doubt they will have an open beta but I am sure a TON of people will get in just to check server crash.
