A New BIG world?

Hi there im a new member here!

Ive been playing mmorpgs since i first played ragnarok online, then went on to play ffxi, wow, psu, and a whole load of f2p games, but im looking for a new game with a really big world, loads of places to see, i loved the size of games like wow and ffxi, but would love something bigger.

ffxi was perfect, but was such a sucker for time, i was waiting 4 hours plus just to get a party..

Thanks in advance

Vanguard has a huge world, huuuuge. Maany people think its a horrible game but I say try it since you want a huge world to explore.

Vanguard is pretty big. . .

Not sure on your stance of SOE or that game but if size is what you are looking for thats the place to find it.

There were a lot of bug issues and everything like that but after testing it out myself I encountered none.

    Eternally mine,

Games with big worlds that I can think of off the top of my head are,

    Vanguard, SWG and DnL.

DnL (Dark and Light) is now F2P, SWG has a free trial but VG doesn't yet.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Take note that Vanguard is a really really bad game and SWG hasn't had much success too, infact both are big failures. Dark and Light don't even consider buying because it's probally the worst mmo on the market right now lol. Theres not much to chose from atm but keep an eye out for Warhammer Online which looks the most promising mmorpg of the next 3 or so years.

Really the only ones worth playing are:

WOW, EQ2 and LOTRO  for fantasy.

EVE Online and (dare i say it) SWG for Sci-fi

Games like EQ,DAOC and UO are ok but they're  pretty old.

Depends on your definition of "big".  If you want vast empty spaces try Star Wars Galaxies or Vanguard.  Personally, I'd rather play a game with more players so that the land doesn't seem deserted.

Ya know, EQ2 isn't the biggest world, but it is pretty expansive and certainly has a lot to see. Might be worth checking out.

Vanguard has come a ways since launch, and at least in the early levels doesn't completely suck. Most of the angst is associated with the mid-level and endgame (lack thereof), but that won't kick in for you until you know whether you like the game anyway. The racial diversity and their associative starting zones is worth visiting alone.

Vanguard has a big world, but it's a little too big for my tastes for how few the population is.  The population is very thin in the biggest cities, in the wilderness you can spend an entire day out somewhere and not see another person.

    Some very desolate places.

I would say Vanguard, Dark and Light and L2.

Dark and Light.... eh, maybe it's ok now that it's free. I would NOT recommend you give money to them, EVER. Long story, but that company has a history of lying to its player base and outright stealing money (continuing to charge monthly fees even after a player has canceled.)

L2 has added a lot of land and continues to add land with every expansion (all free.) It would take you close to two hours to run from one end of the map to the other (that's an estimate... they have teleports so there's no need to run that much.) And that's if you just stuck to the main road. There is plenty to see in L2, lots of different types of areas, from swamps to grasslands to mountainous regions... plus lots of dungeons that can take over an hour to get to the end (w/o special teleports or Shadow dance.)

You can click on that and then zoom in for a bigger version. To give you an estimate... when zoomed in, I'd say about every inch is about 3-5 minutes of running.
