Once I reach max level I'll usually be found PvPing in games. When WAR comes out thats my plan. Then of course on occasion I'll throw in a raid just to mix it up and try to get my Tome of Knowledge as complete as possible(I'm a completist, I'm one of those people who wants to go everywhere, do everything and unlock all of the little goodies before I'll let a game go.).

If I can't progress further because I reach the top, I will either start a new toon, or start a new game.
If I don't enjoy progressing with a new FOREIGN gameplays that has nothing to do with the game so far, then I will be extremely displeased at the game which end so poorly. I don't mind endless levels (I actually craves for them), but if you end them, then you really should either keep a similar gameplays in order to progress...or to just give up and grant me a "win" screen!
Earning more levels? Sure thing.
Earning more gear? Sure thing.
Earning more AAs/Accolades? Most definitely.
Having to PvP/Raid/Tradeskills? No. And I will be quite infuriated with such a sudden ending that wasn't called for.

Depends. In WoW about the only thing I liked doing at max level was pvp, but that got stale so I quit. FF11 I haven't really done anything at the max level except level up additional jobs. In Age of Conan once I hit max level I plan to do lots of pvp action cuz it looks like it'll have the sweetest pvp ever for a mmo. Depends on what else there is to do, raiding is definately not on my list of priorities.
I agree that in CoH the big deal was that once I hit 50, I unlocked the epic archtype. So now they get me playing longer for starting over a new toon, while I get a sweet archtype to play that not everyone else has.
In WoW when I got my 1st 60, I mainly helped lower level friends run instances. I dabbled in pvp a bit, but most of the time I would help people run through Shadowfang, Blackfathom, etc.
Generally I reroll another alt.... I had 6 level 50's in DAOC and 5 level 60's in WOW. Lineage 2 I never had a prayer of getting through the grind to the top and I'm really happy that EVE (which I'm currently playing) has no maximum level to reach... a refreshing change....

If it's a MMOG I like, start another character. Class based system, try a different class. Skill based system with opportunity cost, focus on different skills.
I usually go PvP, then realize I need better gear, then I go raid, then I get pissed at raiding because its retarded, and then I go find another game to repeat this stuipd process over and over again.

I find another game or find something else to do. Endgame seems so very pointless most of the time. There aren't any goals other then to get better equipment.

It all depends on the game imo, and what there is to do once you cap. I have raided, pvped and made alts, each one is unique in its own way.

There is no "max level" in EVE.

I liked how COH did it. Once you reach end game you open up a new class.

I never reach max level in any of the mmo's I play. so I rarely worry about what i'm going to do after...
Sony Online Entertainment Steals Customers Money
it depends on what endgame is...
o DaoC-alot of RvR with my 50s
o WoW-raided sometimes but spent alot of time in the BGs
o SB- raid other player cites
o UO- spent my time mining, crafting, selling, and decorating my house with checks
....currently working on getting some 50's on COV just cause i'm getting bored with the current MMOs
To be perfectly honest, I usually get bored after a month or so of high level and roll alts.

What do you do after you reach max level?
Come to the realization that max level is not the end-all-be-all of MMO gaming.
i PVP, thats why games without a solid pvp system are useless to me like WoW
I generally burn that bridge when I come to it, and not before.
I just PvP when max level thats why I see no point to PvE only games.
Flame away its just my play style.
Go kick the living ass out of every mob or person that killed/ganked me when I was lower level.
