Where did all the people that used to play the social professions move to after the gameplay changed

I used to play a master image designer and tailor in SWG before all the combat changes when they merged all the professions and everything. Since then I haven't played anymore but I'm just curious as to which games all those that used to play all the SWG social professions all migrated to??? I haven't found anything as good as old SWG :(

Did anyone stay behind on the new version of SWG and carry on playing? I would be curious to know.

I know, from having encountered them, that a lot of them went to Ryzom, some to EvE, some most likely went to things like tale in the desert (which if you dont know it is a purely social/crafting mmo.. no combat), but that last is speculation on my part

I was a master weaponsmith and  master doctor  before I quit and loved the social aspect of being a doctor and sitting in Coronuts or Theed and buffing line upon line of people. For myself I havent found any game that I could have that amount of social fun since then and if there is one out there I would love to know it.

And some have returned to SWG, especially with entertainers being the class that gives about the best buffs now.  Welcome to being the new doctor without all the crafting for your injectors and stims.  There *seems* to be a resurgence in entertainers now, but whenever I have logged on my entertainer, I have seen but a handful of old friends from cantinas long ago.  Crafters have gotten some minor love with reverse engineering.  At least now you can make crafted gear that is better than much of the looted gear, sadly it takes a ton of time and patience, which I don't have, and has caused prices to skyrocket.

well, I was never a social player but I did run as many of the "social" profs listed above, esp. crafting ones.  I'm all over the place - 3-6 months in CoV, 3-6 months in WoW, and back and forth until one of the EMUs get finished or the next SW MMO comes out.  Lotsa vets of all types in those games, obviously.  CoV especially, just mention the NGE in general chat and the $OE hatefest begins.

I was a Master Doc Pre-CU, (the best time to be a crafter).  After the CU (when the crafting docs got the shaft) I was a BIO-ENGINEER for a while in the meds line.  I LOVED crafting back then, (I used to be a regular on SWGCRAFTING.COM), and was always on the lookout for the next best thing when it came to resources.

After the NGE I closed everything down and moved to WoW, (But definitely not for the crafting as that's child's play)...

Ya I'm in City of Heroes/Villains now.  I had a Bothan Master Musician that played a mean Nalargon lol.  My main character was a doc though in SWG, I think that's why I like being a healer in CoH so much.  A bunch of us from our SWG guild are in a supergroup together on heroes.  I'm enjoying their new crafting system.  I like building the power enhancement sets for my hero, and finding components/ingredients that friends need to build something.  It kind of reminds me of hunting for resources for chef and tailor pals in SWG :)

Some of my entertainer pals went to Ryzom, and said it was a lot of fun.  They said they liked the environment and the skill system.  A few friends went to WoW, and a few have gone back to SWG, since some of the things they used to enjoy have been restored in some form.

LOL, I did this in VirtueUnited a month ago. We were just talking about MMO's in general. Wow, some of those folks were so upset you would have thought I just ganked them with a stalker in SC! It was actually pretty funny.

We, my guild, went to WoW, level'd toons in like 3 months...ugh...then went to EQ2, LOTRO, VG and even free asian mmogrinders. Now most are either catching up on KOTOR 1&2 or in EQ2. For some of us EQ2 is the best swgish experience, I know some still WoW it up but ya nothing like my first love, okay my third love, okay my fifth love but hey it was sweet for a time.

    Missing you, Gak

PS can I have my Foghat, Nirvana and Queen cds back?

    Honestly? I wish i knew.

    Coming from shadowfire here.

Agoo' - Who knows, near the end he was despised by alot of people... i assume he's moved onto WoW or some other MMO.

Tricia voojagig - Her and her husband moved back to CoH/V full time shortly before SWG fell to the NGE. From there i have no clue.

Avar - Still trolling the SWG forums, causing trouble.

Pori Sharo - Who knows, he just went AWOL on us.. For all i know he still plays.

Rik - Man i miss this guy. Shortly after CU1, he went missing. Usually he came back. This time he didn't.

Gnarwakkar - Man i miss this guy. Best wookie friend ever. Miss ya still bud!

Fritz - Three words. World of Warcraft.

Avera - She and her boyfriend had quarrels on games and she ended up stopping her subscription long before the CU or NGE hit. Miss her.

Unfortunately i really haven't kept in-contact with any of the folks from SWG. I never thought to grab their information at the time. But now i wish i had. Some of the greatest people i'd ever met online.

I knew a lot of crafters that went to EQ2.  I also played WoW with quite a few dedicated crafter types who simply accepted that no acceptable substitute existed and played a combat character until something better came along.  Age of Conan looks like it might have some possibilities for crafters.

I found that the matrix online, when it first came out, was just as socialable as starwars galaxies if not more.

People had there own radio stations and you could request music and play games, and just party in the clubs.

Once even have niobe (dev controlled) that came to our party and made some funny remarks when the cheesey DJ tried to chat her (or him) up .

In a way, with there being a lack of things to do within matrix online, partying was probably the best part of the game, expecially if you had a good DJ

If your in Roleplaying, and i mean proper role-playing then you should try WoW.

Some RP servers have great RP guilds on, i once saw a horde guild that had slaves prettending to do work for there masters it was madness,
