Yes, like they stated above the source code was leaked and development of L3 was canceled. Who knows, maybe they will start again in the future. Unfortunately, this means that the game won't be out for a long, long, long time. We're probably looking at 5 or so years before we see an L3.

You forgot about the part where a bunch of gold farmers from China form an alliance called LordOfLords and kill every raid boss on the server in under a minute and then sell all the drops to the players for the same adena that they sold them on ebay, hehe.

Aion aint touching Lineage popularity, mark my words. Lineage is a solid franchise and it is going to rule p2p gaming for a long time, unless they mess the next one up, which I don't really see happening.

There was a press release from NCSoft Europe 2 or 3 months ago, so this is recent news. They said that Aion, which was first scheduled for a release end of 2007 was late (beta is now anounced for end 2007/early 2008), so NCSoft decided to move the L3 devels over to Aion to help finish that game first. L3 development will resume once Aion launches.

Aion looks like a very solid and nice game, but it is not L2, and won't be the "Lineage" series. Many companies release good games within a year or two of each other. I will probally play Aion, and I don't know if it will replace L2 for me until I actually play it, but it could be possible from what I have seen.
Before WoW, L1 and L2 were THE MMOs to play, they had the most subscriptions (bots aside, I am not getting into this argument) and is a very good game. There are at least 12k actual players playing L2 in NA, which is EXTREMELY good considering the game is over 3 years old. Yes the game is a older gen grind game, and has many flaws, but games get better over time, and I don't see many of the mistakes L2 made being transfered over to L3.
With that being said we can't realistically start seeing anything from L3 for the next two years. It takes a while, esspecially since they scrapped their old plans (basically when they fired the head of it for leaking the L3 code). If L3 comes out WITHIN 2 years I won't play it because I know you can't make a solid game in that time. NCsoft has made tons of MMOs, and are one of the leading MMO companies. Some games were flopps such as Auto Assult or the upcomming tabula rasa which I doubt will go anywhere. NCsoft is huge and has many development teams so to rubberstamp one bad NCsoft game and say that NCsoft games suck is pointless.
Now not to ignore the problems of L2, which I hope the devs of L3 don't do either so that they can fix it. I would actually hope they would give better localized support so that NA could have more control over it's NA version and tweak some things to adjust to their playerbase. This is one of the biggest problems of L2, and I hope NCsoft Korea thinks of this.
Overall, if I am still playing games and have the time to play games when L3 comes out, I will really look forward to it. I have played L2 for close to 3 years subscription time and it has been the longest game I have ever played. I resent those that think that all L2 players are cheaters, because I would like to say I NEVER payed more than $15 on the game. That means 1 account and no adena buying. I am not the richest, most geared out, and highest level on the server, but I do have A grade , I am lvl 76 main with lvl 65 subclass. I had fun 80% of the time in L2, esspecially in the beginning, so for me it was time and money well spent.
Currently L2 is out there for niche gamers, and not for everyone. Some people don't like the grind, some people get to bothered by seeing all the cheating. I was mad to at first, until I played all MMOs and realize no matter what there is farmers and cheaters, and I should just play the game I have the most fun in because it is never going to be fair!
Anyway, the only info on L3 is the unreal 3 engine and that the source code was stolen, the head developer of the lineage series was fired becase he was thought to have contributed to the security leak and the game is still in the works and being started over on.

jukan its not that, its just that safari sucks as a browers doesnt have alot of features these boards offer. heck i should know, i tried to form posts via a mac at my jobs studio as they use G5's and they only haev safari on it. so you cant fault mmorg.com for not covering support for every browser avialable. it does work on mac explorer or navigator 7 or 8 i believe for mac.

No it's not like that lol. You can conquer castles with your clan (castle siege), which is very, very much fun imo. Just do a trial and see what you think of the gameplay and the looks anyway. If you like it afterwards, buy it .

Nah, they are completely different games. L2 is an open pvp game and Aion is more faction based. I really think that people signing up for Aion who are expecting a Lineage 2 type of experience are going to be very dissapointed.

Why do you guys care so much about gold farms, I know alot of peole who make their money that way. To me farming is just part of MMOs now, you aren't going to get rid of it ever.
Since lineage 3's source code got stolen they are totally remaking the game from scratch. They said they are putting all the technology/man power into making it that they have accumulated thus far. So 2011 would be my "maybe" date that it will be released. and also they are making their own engine so it will no longer be run on the unreal 3 engine.

No it's not like that lol. You can conquer castles with your clan (castle siege), which is very, very much fun imo. Just do a trial and see what you think of the gameplay and the looks anyway. If you like it afterwards, buy it

Why do you guys care so much about gold farms, I know alot of peole who make their money that way. To me farming is just part of MMOs now, you aren't going to get rid of it ever.
Since lineage 3's source code got stolen they are totally remaking the game from scratch. They said they are putting all the technology/man power into making it that they have accumulated thus far. So 2011 would be my "maybe" date that it will be released. and also they are making their own engine so it will no longer be run on the unreal 3 engine.
