Does this game have any background music playing when you are in the town? Also when I am fighting a monster all I hear is my weapon hitting the monster, does this game have any voice sound effects while fighting?
Go to System related (Bottom right) --> system settings --> BGM (Background Music) its a scroll bar, that you can adjust.
ok, i got the english patch installed now and playing , i got ithe patch from the main english perfect world website but a lot of the player names above the characters are still in chinese, this isnt a big deal sense the english game is supposed to come out within the next couple weeks but i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if anyone knew how to fix it?

Hehehe, that's a funny one.
The Chinese player names are displayed in Chinese, yes, they aren't part of the game script so they aren't translated. Better to keep them so than to display some gibberish text with no meaning.
Hey, I'm trying to download the stuff but I keep getting corrupt file messages, also when I try to get the file off the torrent there aren't any seeders Could somebody please tell me what I need to do or can they please get their torrent running so I can leech? Ok, so I've dled everything, put the patch 1-9 in the Perfect World Program Files folder, followed all the instructions for the english patch, dled the update once I opened the game client...and now I've got problems.
When I open the game to play it, it doesn't show ANY words whatsoever...except for confirm, and sometimes not even that. All the buttons I'm supposed to click are empty. Also, where I'm assuming you have to connect to a server....there is nothing available.
I'm really confused, I thought I dled it all correctly, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me please?

Ok. I downloaded everything, but the updates aren`t working and I have no idea whats wrong, seeing as all the error messages are in Asian. Basically I try to verify the client, it sits there for a few minutes, then I get an error message and I'm back to square one.
Can I put the english patch on then do the others so I can find out what the error message says?
this was easy for me, i dled everything, installed it without the east asian character support by using the guide, how do the characters being in chinese help reduce confusion? after that i got the 1-9 patch from filefront... double clicked on it w/o unzipping and that installed.
then i extraced the english patch, and dropped it into my c:program filesperfect world and replaced everything.
opened the patcher and its all in english. now if the cubizone site was up i could register ~ o well no one is playing i guess? ... i just want to see. it is 4 45 am ... but thats here in the states.

East Asian characters is a language pack that lets your computer display chinese letters, otherwise, they just show up as bizarrely random little squares, or weird letters. I haven't got it.. so installing is a huge b*tch. Anyway, you can take a look by right clicking and selecting 'encoding > more'
I was looking at the FAQ on that unoffical site and it says there is a malaysian english version which is going to launch in July (?)
Is this happening yet?
Also if I download the Philippines version can I use that one insteadof the cubezone one to play on with cubezone? The filefront links go reallllllly slow for me (2 hours plus per part) but the Philipines links load each part in under 10 minutes. (using Gigaget)
If this is gonna turn into a big download headache I would just rather wait for the actual english version I guess.
Can I use wahtever version is really what I'm asking. I'm guessing no, I can not interchange them.
I'm getting a file corrupt error when I get to the startup screen. I checked the file name, and it is called c:Program FilesPerfect World. I have read the previous solutions, and they have not helped. Is it possible that I need to download the 1-11 patch?

*****EDIT- I reinstalled everything and re-did it. It works now and is updating the client version at the moment. Unfortunately, after a day's work of fixing time-consuming mistakes, I learn the registration is down. If anyone would be nice enough to let me use their account... I didn't think so. Not like I would steal anything, though. I have nowhere to take it.
Oh, just a note the original poster should mention-
1.If you are using Mozilla Firefox, you can download all the parts at the same time, shortening the download time to about an hour.
2. The 1-9 patch file shouldn't be unzipped into the PW folder, but rather into a temporary area such as the Desktop. The file that is unzipped is then opened, which should patch the game.
3. Also, the English patch file should not be unzipped into the PW folder either. Unzip into Desktop, move the two folders into the PW folder, then move the separate file into the Elements folder, which should already be in the PW folder.
You should add this to the first post, so people don't make the same mistake I do.
i installed the english translatin version and it worked but when i tried to launch the install of the game it said that The file cant be created
what should i do ?? please help me
Personally, I'd just wait for the english version, it might be out by the time you finish setting up the chinese version with translation patch anyway.

In your Perfect World directory there should be a "launcher" folder.

Ok, I found my problem, I needed to select the icon labled 'install (chinese letters)'
The English patch for the Chinese version is all well and good, but when does the actual English version release?
Ochhh after patch11 i think we need new english patch because for example i dont see text of all my Quests, names of NPC-s are in chinese etc...
