Hello everyone im a long time MMORPG fan and a new member to the MMORPG.com forums. I have been playing Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 for the longest time now, and before that I played Planetside. I need to buy a MMORPG to hold me off until World of Warcraft, so tell me. Is City of Heroes worth buying? And is it a game that you could play for months on end without getting tired of it? Please post in this thread with your thoughts on the game and if it is worth buying and spending money on.

I have had more unadultered "fun" playing this game than any of the mmorpg's I have played.
character creation is supurb. You can really develope an indenty. It is alot more casual in in depth and complexity, but I don't mind that. I also don't feel the over whelming pressure to lvl that I get in other games. Socializing, and making new characters are a big part of the fun.
But the action...oh my the action. Pants soiling carnaqe. I have spontaneously burst into giddy laughter as the fun and excitement took me to levels i have never been from (at least not from a video game).
Having quit Lineage II with a lvl 37 character a month ago and not being able to wait for wow or eq2, I thought I would pick this up to fill the gap. I predict I will keep this subscription for a very long time, even if I go with a more traditional mmorpg. I think it will be a perfect compliment to a wow or a eq2. The missions are fun and City of Villains is comming as well.
Don't let the corney 5-10 minute tutorial discourage you. Get it...get in the game... level up a couple times then start grouping. MAKE a cra p load of characters! 8 per server... 12 or so servers! Have fun!
I have seen the Arctic Circle... And it is round.
I'm not going to answer your poll because the game might not be for you. I would never recommend a game to hold someone over until another game comes out. I'm not looking forward to WoW coming out. I do like CoH though and more interested in the new features they will be coming out with. CoH is for casual gamers and comic book geeks.
Well I am not a casual gamer, nor am I a comic book geek.
I wasn't suggesting people buy this game to hold them over until another game came out, I said thats what I did.
