Good game for two people to play together?

My girlfriend and I want to start a game together.  We are not too picky, and would like something we could obviously played together.  I would like something with a free trial and maybe not too high of a monthly price if we decide to play.

No WoW

No COH/COV

No Maple Story

Ideas?

LotRO... nice casual game and if you can get a founder to toss you a special invite...you can pay the same monthly price that they do..which is 9.99 US

Guild Wars has no fee and is very solo/small party friendly since you can fill up your party with npc's.

There's no regular trial, but you might have some luck asking for a buddy key on a gw fan forum or something.

Check the stickies here if you're wondering what version to get first (all 3 currently released guild wars packages are stand-alone but function as expansions if you get several), or if you want to try your luck with a buddy key.

play.com are offering all 3 versions for £10 each. They have free shipping but mostly only deliver to europe.

Can't think of too much other stuff. Lord of the Rings maybe. I honestly didn't like it much myself.

If you worried about montly fees I would suggest Guild Wars. No monthly fee, just pay for the game and play as long as you like. I also would suggest AOC if you like alot of combat. The game is due out in October and it looks really good in my opinion.

I don't think she would be into LOTRO

And I tried Guild Wars once and never really got into it.

Well, I could ask what sort of games does your girlfriend like to play....

But the only correct answer should be....whatever game you currently are playing....

If that isn't the case, you really should be asking yourself.... is she really that good in bed anyways?

EQ 2, a game that is solo friendly should be duo friendly right ? :P

I've played eq2 to level 30 duo before and it is very good if you pick two classes that compliment each other. We went with a tank and a damage dealer but tank and healer would work better, especially for newer players.

So it sounds you'll then be ruling out EQ2, WoW and Vanguard as well. How about something like Second Life, A Tale in the Desert, or Sims Online instead? Those are all more 'social' games that a (typical) woman might enjoy.

After you choose whatever, I'd also suggest you spend some time before starting it trying to figure out two classes or skill sets that mutually support each other well. It can be a lot of fun playing with an effective team thing going.

I'd suggest Ryzom. Nice community, good for teaming and also playing solo once in a while (gathering/crafting) without one getting ahead of the other. And you can try it for free.
