End-Game

I know this is a PvP centric game and all about WARRRR and good stuff like that, but is there any information on what kind of end-game content, PvE wise, they plan on implementing?

They said a couple PvE instances might be put in, it's unsure though, not very much content about PvE.

eh just my opinion or w/e but I wouldn't play WAR if you don't like pvp and all you want is pve or mainly pve and some pvp or something

Please come check out my stream. All the love is appreciated!

You can still go through the whole game with PvE it'll take longer but it's allowable, and it'll still help towards the war effort in controlling the zones. When it comes to how much content, it won't be a lot though, this game HAS PvE, but not to the extent of games like WoW or EQ1 or 2 where you just raid...raid....raid some more..... raid... etc.... This game wants to show people that PvP-RvR is fun if you give it a chance.

And with WAR being promised a PvP centric game I hope they don't screw up the game and make it PvE centric with nothing to do but grind gear and faction crap. That would suck. However, they have said you can go from lvl 1 to max lvl without PvPing but your PvE efforts would affect the world. So that means PvE will be fun to if you don't want to PvP all the time and the quests will not be about killing 10 boars and collecting bat innards...it will be about the overall war. I'm guessing end game will be like at the begining of the game where  PvP or PvE will go toward the war effort and the culmination of a campaign to sack your enemey's capitol .

This game is gonna be loved by those who love PvP, but hated by those who love PvE.  Like you said Mr OP, the game is all about Waaarggg!, so its expected to have little PvE.

I really don't see where people are getting this information.  The game has a HUGE PvE aspect to it.  I mean they're stating to have 300 Public Quests in at launch, not to mention the X-mas quests and kill collectors.  As well as dungeons like the Bastion Stair, Night Goblin Caves, etc.

I think the PvE in this game is going to surprise a lot of people.  The Devs have said that you can go from level 1 to max by doing ONLY PvE or by doing ONLY PvP.  Or you can do a combo of both.  PvE is a perfectly viable route to take in this game, and PvE players that love the Warhammer world are going to have tons of stuff to do.

We aren't under estimating the pve. Most of the pve is before the end game. It doesn't really matter how much PvE is in the game if its before the end game because that is the topic. If you're a fan of Warhammer and hate PvP expect WAR to be like an RPG. Once you play it through you'll go back and do another race for another "ending". You wont have any big pve challenges at end game so you will get bored. Meanwhile PvPers will be fighting tooth and nail to sack the enemy capital.

well I hear end game will be all pvp base at  tier 4s nuetral and capitals then we got those pve dungeons.. Then paul burnett mention there going add more countrys when the game comes out but i dont know wat they will do with them

I love PvP, don'g get me wrong, or flame me as one of those "omg this game is so gay lets RP and all be friends" type people, i was merely trying to delve into one of the aspects of the game that not many people have brought up.

Hopefully, whatever the Devs decide to do, they don't completely ruin the End-game with insanely long instances with large raid groups. I personally hope that they mold the WAR into PvE in the sense that end-game instances will help your faction as questing on lower levels does.

We already know the "end game" for dwarves, since there will be no female dwarves.

What i meant by this is that PvE players that are used to games like EQ2 are gonna be suprised. PvE is usually the "main game" and PvP is usually the bit on the side, WoW for example. In this case, its going the other way. PvP is the "main game" and PvE is the bit on the side. The majority of players will be playing for the PvP, we all know it. In my opinion, the PvE in this game, from what i have read, is purely just to get more subs and give the pvpers and brake from PvP. I guess we'll soon see... bring on 2008!

I think people misunderstand RvR to mean PvP. It doesn't.

WAR is almost entirely RvR. Meaning the 6 realms (3 Order vs 3 Destruction) will compete against one another. That doesn't mean you, as a player, at any point HAVE to kill other players. Nor does it mean the majority of content will require you to do so. It DOES mean you will perform actions that can hamper the other realm, both players and NPCs alike. And players from that realm will take actions that can affect your realm.

I dont really care if Mythic put more pve stuff in WAR as long as they dont effect pvp like TOA did to Daoc.

  • DuraheLLDuraheLL Member Posts: 2,951

isn't it kinda obvious... the usual. But I don't think anyone should expect to play this game as a PvE game! Since most add-on will surely be directed towards PVP oriented matters

Considering more people want PVE then PVP I think they will have (maybe not in the begining) a decent PVE side. Remember they want those that just want to PVE to help out the PVP part by making NPCs get buffed or zone buffs for the area (pulled those off the top of my head think i read something about thats how they help pvp but not sure)

The end-game instances will not be hours of just mindlessly killing computer controlled characters. The devs alreayd stated that. They will be just simple go in kill a few mobs kill the boss done type of things. I for one like this much better.

The 'end game' mentality is what ruins MMOPRG's.

The developers have said numerous times that they have learned from the mistakes they made with DAoC & are trying to avoid any of the same screw ups with WAR.

I'm hoping they actually DID learn from their mistakes.

Don't try to make him look like a minority.  The overwhelming majority dislike raiding; period.

Yet, the overwhelming majority is playing a game were end-game raiding is the main focus.

Please, keep passing off your subjective experience as fact that.

Yes, because the only people who like to play relatively simple games are simple-minded imbeciles.  If there is one field where elitism is completely and utterly pathetic, it's the field of VIDEO GAMES.

Look, most people play WoW after all those things you listed are done.  I'm not saying that most people play WoW simply to raid, I'm not even saying that most MMO players like raiding.  i'm just saying that there are tons of people who apparently like raiding, and that the most popular MMO game ever is heavily-focused on raiding.  Don't see what ANY of this has to do with WAR.
