Soloing

BujinkageBujinkage Member Posts: 32

Hi there,

I just wanted to know if soloing was possible in EQ II? Dpn't get me wrong, I like grouping - its a MMORPGG after all! -  but once in a while I prefer to solo. Is it possible?

Thank you!

From what I have read, it will be a little bit easier to solo in eq2 than it was in eq1.  Also you have the option of learning crafts and becoming a merchant of items without ever killing anything.  Just by doing the tradeskills.

They say they have lots of content for both groups and solo players.
But we better wait and see, cuz other mmorpgs promised that, too.

Can  you solo in EQ2. According to what I have read you should be able to. I have played other games too that have claimed this, but when you actually played the game, you really couldnt. Like stated above its a more of wait and see aspect.

If you are able to solo, it wont be perfectly even though. What I mean is that some classes will be better then others. Good thing though is it wont be like EQ1 where very few could solo effectively. More of the classes should be able to solo, some will be better then others. I dotn see all the classes being able to solo at all the levels though.

Im with you on your thoughts though. In EQ1 I found it easier to solo alot of the time due to either not wanting to take the time to find a group (which should be better in EQ2), or not having the time to group, or going for a specific loot that I didnt want to loose on a roll (not greedy, refering to an item I might of needed etc). At times you just want to explore and kill alone and I hope EQ2 gives you a fighting chance at it, and not one where you have to fight "light blues" only too.

Thank you for your answers guys.

Well, as long it is not forced grouping like it is in FFXI, I think it will be fine. This is what made me quit on this game image, and now I just hope it won't be the same in EQ II. Sometimes I just don't feel "social" and I like exploring alone, this is why I wish that this game has the soloing option.

Thank you again! Nice forum by the way! image

I believe I read that some of the spells available for mage classes will be specifically self protection for soloing so that they can survive in the early game by themselves.

They also (Moorguard I think) stated that while it was possible, the game was really designed for the group of 6.  So while they had set aside content for the soloist, it wouldn't necessarliy be the easiest way to go.

As wizzy I am hoping the soloing will be alittle easyer than it was in eq1 dont get me wrong it could be done with some mobs and kiting them around lol.

As I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil BUT it will have no choice but to FEAR ME!!!

You should check out the site....Moorgard and everyone else stated that ANY class can solo all the way up to 50 if you wanted.

But the drawback would be that it would be a bit slower, and you wouldnt have access to the best loot possible...but it IS possible to solo all the way up no matter what class you are.

every class will have either abilities or spells specificaly designed to be solo'd with.  for example, a cleric could cast a self buff on himself and start busting skulls, but if he tried to use that spell while he was in a group, it wouldnt be beneficial because it would take up too many concentration slots, which should be used to benefit the group.image

The problem I ran into as far as grouping goes in EQlive was that I played 50 hours a week and during the time nobody was on and I couldnt find a group it  would have been fun to be able to go out and solo(and actually enjoy it).  I think this is the main thing they have in mind.  They dont want people to stop playing the game becouse its "to hard to find a group" all the time.
