The obvious, most immediate question is: are you paying for this?

No I do not pay, but I am looking for someone to split the profits and partner with.  So the total adsence payout they would get half.  You will not get stuck with all the hard tasks as I am learning the ropes right now. If you can do it  please email me.

I think your getting in over your head.  Even MUDs have atleast 3 programmers on it.  1 is way to little for an mmo, especially if your not paying.  You are only going to get a part-time worker who isn't too motivated and might get 2~4 hours of work out of them a week.  Not to mention mmos are one of the most difficult things to program, and the most difficult type of game to program.  Like right now I am working with a company who doesn't have funds to pay its employees and we got 2 experienced alpha engine programmers and its already taken a few years.

Video Games in general are one of the hardest career jobs for a programmer. There are definitely better jobs for the pay and time spent. I don't think anyone should get into game development unless they are really dedicated and passionate about what they are doing.

Actually this is just a thought..  Try starting off making something smaller and work your way up...

Yeah dude I've been doing it for about 6 months now and you're idea seems pretty ambitious for 2 people, especially if you are stil learning C++ I assume...  2D/3D, it doesn't really matter because with 2 developers working part-time writing an MMO you are looking at years...

I would consider a single-player for fun, then on to something bigger.  IMHO.

Are you a concept artist pretty much?

    I can do the following

    - 3D Programming

    - Client/Server Network Code

    - 3D Modeling

    - Rigging

    - Texturing

    - Animation

    - Normal Mapping

    - Shaders

    - Landscape

The only thing I don't have is concept art and ideas for the game.  Without concept art its impossible to make a game.

I think you may be a bit confused here.  Are you talking about an MMO with graphics and a client-server architecture, or are you talking about a web game?  You mention adsense, which sounds like you're talking about something on a website.  Adsense can't be inserted into a program as it violates the ToS.

I've actually been thinking about updating my engine to support multiplayer. right now its a mult-core engine that has collision detection, limited physics, skeletal animation, dynamic lighting, etc. not trying to blow up my engine but it is something ive worked on during quiet (non-crunch) periods inbetween milestones. I've worked in pretty much any genre in this game industry except MMORPG.

just not sure if I want to dedicate myself to something. I'll PM you the link to my stuff and maybe you can send me a short paragraph about the type of game you're making. off hand I'm interested in making a Sandbox type of game whereas we have skill based progression and sort of break away from the Everquest model. tight focus on heavy player interaction, death penalties, player run cities, etc.

There is nothing wrong with WoW etc but im already stuck workin on mainstream stuff at my job so id naturally prefer to do something innovative in my spare time

edit- btw, there is a help wanted section on this site you might want to try too and also gamedev is good place to visit
