LOL. It cant possibly suck as much as your reasoning. Bring something real to the table, then we'll talk.
Hahah, there is nothing real released about Darkfall, good or bad. The only things are Set-Up Videos which tease some of very basic features of a MMORPG, and don't show how the game is actually played. And that's exactly my point. Everyone can make a pre-setup video in one area, adding some Animations here and there, but this really proves nothing at all, just that the game has graphics.
I want some real footage from Darkfall, a Journalist or a Fan playing the Game for 10 Minutes and having fun, recorded by someone independant...

Name one game that has let independat people play it and make a video of it before it has gone public?
Name one game that has let independat people play it and make a video of it before it has gone public?
WAR.
Easy as that. Pre-Alpha stage played by Convention Visitors and at one time Press-People were invited and battled in the only halfway-completed Battleground there was at that time, with 2 different classes per side, because the others weren't implemented yet.
i followed darkfall for a while, and for as much i would love for the game to be released with all the awesome features the devs announced, there is absolutely no solid proof that any of the features are in game or even the game exists, i saw a couple of characters running around in a mount, and a first person spell casting from a video 2-3 years ago. If it comes out with all its features props to aventurine, until then there's just nothing to hold onto.
Not flamming but to flame a game for taking its time to develop is hypocritical. You people are the same ones who will moan and cry about a game being rushed to release.
Can I ask why flame a game youve spent no money on ? Why flame a game you havent played , no one has played. How can you make a rational flame about a game you have not played ? I'm just curious to the flammers out there how do you justify flamming a game youve spent nothing on ? How can you flame a company for taking there time to release THERE GAME. Its not your game, they owe us nothing until we start paying to play.
I'm not flaming the game, I'm discrediting the company behind the game. I don't believe the game exists, how is that flaming? Until Aventurine proves me wrong with an outside 3rd party review, an official BETA or something other then internal company handouts that show nothing as to the games functionality, it's vaporware.
I'm not against Darkfall, I'm just against Aventurine, there is a difference.
Could that be the reason why you'r so obsessed with Aventurine?
"There's a pet troll/stalker we've had with us for about 3 years, the ex webmaster of a now apparently defunct MMO project, who's been sending private messages through our boards, and posting for whoever will listen, claiming that Darkfall is/was up for sale among other things. This of course, along with everything else he's been saying over the years has nothing to do with reality.
This guy has been sending us hundreds of email messages for about 3 years from his home computer, apparently unaware that hotmail reports the originating IP. The content of the emails ranges from hate mail, to spam about his game, to threats, to childish attempts at impersonating publishers, investors etc. He's also been diligently, trying to slander Darkfall on game boards, again from his home PC and using a lot of aliases.
While this has been amusing, in a village idiot kind of way, it's about time we clarified for those who are susceptible to buying into this pathology. This kind of thing has happened before, and it's extremely sad to see the ugly face of what some people think are competitive practices."
Thats a fine and dandy speech by Tasos, but uhm, doesn't answer any of the current doubts floating around now does it? It's easy to say "Hey, we have a pest on the internet that won't leave us alone and has been bugging our fans with lies for 3 years." but he seemed to have left out which lies are the pests and which lies are Aventurines. I'm pretty sure everything I've brought up about Aventurine is not lies, unless this pest somehow managed to hack into the Darkfall website twice now to advertise BETA's.
See, it's these vague statements by Tasos that lacks reassurance about the game. If he can't be specific about what lies were created by this pest, I highly doubt the lies are even the root of the problem and he's just using this as a scapegoat for the game's gloomy outlook. My best guess, BETA #3 is not going to happen and Tasos is playing his cards now to prepare the fans in a subtle, it wasn't our fault, manner.
I believe you....
No really i do!
/not
Thats perfectly fine, I'm not trying to cause mass histeria, I've only pointed out how I personally feel. You can make your own decisions and only time will tell who is right and who is wrong. Until then, I won't hold anything against you, so I'd appreciate you do the same for me.
It's amusing that you don't want someone to hold "something" against you, but on the other hand you feel free to:
1. Harass a company by using lies and pathetic troll tactics that are annoying to the people of this community.
2. Assume that DF isn't real while you fail to produce a single evidence for what you’re saying.
3. Ignore the evidence proving that DF is real made by a real people and by a real company. Instead you are using some low life arguments like “there are no videos”, “no money”, “no company” etc.
3. Confuse people that DF is something like D&L and Age of Trolling (Mourning). You keep doing this while we all know that D&L and Trolling (Mourning) asked their community to financially support their development by using unprofessional tactics, like for example pre-sales of an unfinished game. D&L sold an unfinished game, which is exactly what Sigil did with Vanguard, while at the same time Mourning was a community rip-off.
What Aventurine say is:
“ΟΚ Listen guys, we know that you don’t trust independent studios, so we will finance the development and the publishing of a game that it’s going to be as complete and as bugs free as possible 4 you. We don't want your money (4now), there will be no presales or paid beta testing like other studios did before us. We have enough money, so thank you very much!
DF is going to be ready when it’s ready and If you like our product then great! If you don’t like it then you’re free to go”
The funny part is that even though it’s clear that Aventurine owes you nothing, since you haven’t spend a dime on their product- you expect them to react to your concerns about their financial planning and you demand to produce their product according to your perceptive of reality.
I’m trying to understand why you hate those guys so much... Maybe you used to work for them and they fired you because you were useless. Maybe you are that “pet ex webmaster of a now apparently defunct MMO project”, or you are simply just jealous of them…Anyways your mission is far from noble and I’m not willing to open a discussion with you about your professional or psychiatric needs.
I like DF for two reasons. First because I’m Greek and Aventurine is a pioneer Greek IT software house (we use their C4iS in the Air Force as we speak) , and secondly because they dare to be different. And different is the recipe of progress!
I’m not only against this id your using now, I’m just against the thousand trolling id’s that have used in the past to flame DF.

I think you are defending this game because you feel in some way we are attacking Greece. The simple fact is that the game has been in development for 6 years (4 seriously) and there is nothing to show for it but a few model and landscape movies.
I don't discount what the company has done for the military but can you honestly say that what you have seen... physically seen from the darkfall devs leads you to believe the game is up to industry standards?
People make assessments based on past events. We can take a look at independent companies that have released MMOs over the past 7 years and see what is to be expected. Right now DF is not doing anything to prove our assessments wrong. I don't think the game is vaporware but I do feel it is going down the path of failure.
I love Greece... I think it is great that a Greek company is trying to make an MMO... Every ethnic group brings with it different ideas that only help make the MMO genre better. I just think in this case the finished product will no be so good. Rarely is success achieved on the first try.

"Fail to produce" should be darkfalls new slogan. Since they've failed to produce anything of actual consequence for almost a decade.
If the fact that darkfall has been in development for 6 years and all it has to show for it are some shitty looking Alpha videos and outdated screenshots isn't enough "evidence" for you that it's a pile of junk waiting to fail then I am sorry to inform you that you're a fool plain and simple.
I am sure I'll come across one of your posts in 2 years still arguing about the validity of darkfall.

If it gets delayed beyond AoC and WAR launches.. very bad news for their community numbers. Beta 2007 or baibai DF. Btw, I find it funny that we have seen plenty of PvP in DF videos, but not a second of AoC PvP. I guess that means AoC PvP will suck horribly
Even if AoC and WAR launches people are going to be interested in DF because its a quite well known game even if they think its vaporware. Then once it comes out they'll think "Hey wasnt that that vaporware game, I should go check it out". Well I hope it doesnt.
Darkfall is a dreamland for clans and you can bet majority of clans will move to either WAR or AoC if DF isn't at least in beta by then. And once a clan settles in to a new game they wont leave easily. Don't forget Aventurine, just like any other MMORPG developer, will need customers by tens of thousands. Just saying, Aventurine will have very hard times ahead if they fail to launch beta this year.
Thats a ridiculous thing to say. Cant a clan play more than one game?
It really depends on the game. If the game is PvP-goal oriented, it can be extremely difficult to play more than one if you expect your clan to gain any preeminence in the game world. One game alone can consume considerable hours of investment; while I've played several standard PvE-centric MMORPGs simultaneously with ease, I didn't do the same while playing DAoC once I entered the RvR arena nor while playing Shadowbane.
I spent far too much time in the latter two games trying to maintain gains, consolidate territory or solidify and manage our empire, to have time left over to play another game.
A clan can easily be involved in numerous FPS multiplayer games, but that is mainly due to their temporal nature. Once a match is over, it's over. If you aren't involved in a specific match for a specific game, it doesn't have much impact on your clan reputation.
The persistent quality of MMOs make them considerably different in this area. If your reputation is built on owning territory, developing and securing resources and "owning" a portion of that MMORPG game world, you're going to end up spending a considerable amount of time protecting your interests in that world.
That has been my experience. Also, the majority of clans move as a group to a new game. As the OP pointed out, once a clan has started investing time into a MMORPG they are loathe to abandon it unless the game itself is in a horrible state (poor performance, severe bugs and game-breaking hacks giving players unfair advantages). Even then, some clans will still grin and bear it for a long time before moving on.
So at a minimum, many clans will be looking at a standard investment of at least six months in one game, if not a year. That makes it a rough road to hoe for a PvP-centric MMORPG that releases after two high-profile PvP-focused MMORPGs.

The only thing that has failed to produce is your evidence.
Meaning they have the rights to use the word "Darkfall" in the US. They have to give proof of the product or it will be revoked. Meaning that this game isnt vaporware or this wouldnt be here.
If they didnt have a game than why would they even bother to get it? Your probably going to say its part of the conspiracy.
Why would a company get 27.5 million dollars PLUS interest when they have nothing to sell eh? What would the possible positive outcome be?
Now as for DnL it was and quote "... was released underdeveloped to retail...". Aventurine is a well funded company and has plenty of time so this wont be the case for DF.
As for Mourning I do not know why and am currently looking it up.
They also are hiring a QA manager but tell me why would a company hire MORE people if they had nothing to work on? Seems a little absurd to think that right?

Actually what is unusual is a game not to have independent sources preview. Most companies know initial release is driven by hype.

A loan that aventurine has gotten. $27.5 million.
As for Mourning I do not know why and am currently looking it up.
hmm DF isnt following this type of pattern. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/37720
For those who are still skeptical about Aventurine's existance. Heres a link to a greek website where Aventurine S.A is involved with the ESWC( Electronic Sports World Cup). http://www.eswc.com/greece/main.php?c=documents&s=display&ID_Document=114
Here shows that Aventurine apparently hired Artists/Designers in 2006-2007. http://www.akto.gr/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=321&Itemid=269
They also are hiring a QA manager but tell me why would a company hire MORE people if they had nothing to work on? Seems a little absurd to think that right?
Heres something else for the Aventurine nay-sayers. http://www.presspoint.gr/source.asp?id=3042 Its just an article about Aventurine and them working darkfall.
just so everyone knows its only truly been in development for FOUR YEARS.
