Hi
I've never tried DAoC and was thinking of giving it ago. I would like to know if the game is newb/casual friendly, will I find myself soloing as most players are at their lvl cap? Is it worth trying the 2 week trial (not sure about having to add my card details for the trial version)? Which (euro) server would be best to join, you know the ususal questions a new player would ask...
Whats a good all round charactor to play, I tend to play the healer/support roles in other games (priest in WoW, Bloodmage in Vanguard) but I would like to try something different does this game have anything different from all the other mmo's out there?
Any advise would be welcome.
Godmoth.

DAoC takes quite a bit of time to learn and figure out. It's one of the hardest MMOs to learn IMO.
Don't play on european server. Join US servers instead and yeah you will need credit card info for trial.
Your best bet as a new player would be to start on classic servers(Gareth/Lamorak/Ector) since you will find more people in lower levels.
See http://www.camelotherald.com/section.php?id=15 for the classes. There's about 45 classes to choose from.
The game is very different. It's not too bad for new players. Its easy to get TD groups and once you start doing that you will level fast and get to know some people. Try to get in a good guild. I always found the players in daoc to be friendly. Just make sure you play on the classic servers cause the others don't have many people.
1st : I was playing with full graphics , and wondering why everyone blame daoc graphics, its old game but everything getting updated every 5 months (with patches and expansions).
2nd : Do u really need GREAT graphics when playing a MMORPG? Why u dont play games in xbox ? As long daoc is a MASTERPIECE , i dont care about Graphics
DaoC is very casual friendly.
You can solo to max in much less /played that the normal WoW char, so its a myth that there is a major lvl grind.
The problem is, it isn't like WoW. the only things you really need to work through WoW is a online map that tells you outposts for your faction, and lvl's of each zone. and just quest hop.
in DaoC there isa bit more to figure into it. instead of just quest hopping, you basicly do different things from time to time. like lvl 1-10 there are starter town quests that will equip you entirely in decent gear. there are killtasks that help you lvl to 20 extrememly fast if you know the best places to do them. or go to catacombs zones and keep questing. or go to task dungoens. then at 20 you can just pvp to 24 very easily (you can pvp at any lvl but thats the first bg where its worth the time, imo).
but no most players arent at lvl cap. well most do have lvl 50 chars im sure but there are loads of people at every lvl. keep in mind 50 inst the last lvl either like in WoW. there are realm ranks to be had after that, champ lvl's etc.
anyway go to classic server on midgard i just started again, i dont even have a lvl 50 yet and would be happy to help out or give some advice if you end up there.
Im in the same boat he is, except i know i want to try it.
Now about the card issue, do you have to enter your card in, THAN go cancel your account? Or is there away to get around having to put your card details in PERIOD?
i would say to give it a try and experiance the RvR because it is the BEST PvP ever in an MMO. thats one outta 2 reasons i why i can't wait for warhammer!!!!! the other being is i LOVE the warhammer lore and TT figs
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion,I gain strength, through strength,I gain power, through power,I gain victory, through victory,my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
Yes you have to enter the CC info. There are good reasons for that because if not you have end up with kids and others that will simply keep creating accounts and playing for free instead of paying. If you really want to, you can go do the EU trial because they do not require a CC.
