I played the 14-day trial about a month ago. For the first week I was sold. I love astronomy and the music was incredible. For some reason for the last few days I started questioning myself and ended up not buying it. Guess what, it is 2 weeks later now and I have been pretty bored lately so I decided to buy it today. I looked at EVERY MMO site out there looking for anything, but to be honest there really just isn't anything out. I also can't be bothered waiting for Warhammer Online with even a shadow of a doubt that it might not be as good as myself and other hope.

Anyways, did anyone else end up not buying it at the end of the trial but end up coming back? Feel free to add me on xfire if you use it btw! See you ingame.

Picked it up start of retail but couldn't get in to it. About 2 months ago I gave it a shot after getting sick to death of WoW. Really quite like it. :)

I did once played Beta EVE O :) however.

One thing that I see and experiance with people around me is they tend to test the game.

Then they approach EVE Online as a ordinary mmorpg.  Have old values how a mmorpg should be.

Getting into EVE with a narrow view how to play mmorpg's.

That isnt the way becouse EVE Online is so more advanced then the rest of the mmorpgs out there.

One other thing that did make people around me back off from EVE O is the lack of the 3D char.

This is however coming as we all do know about 2008.

Yeas I get the felling WH isn't going to hold me and the rest of my friends thought it would be.

I stick with EVE O  also then

I just reactivated my account for EvE after quitting several times. This time I think I'm going to stick with it though.

You really have to approach this game differently from others. You have to decide what you want out of the game, not let the game tell you what to do. That was why I was never able to get into it before.

    Played Beta

    Didn't buy

Played a trial shortly after beta

    didn't buy

Played a trial a few months later

    didn't buy

    Played yet another trial...

    Bought

    Quit

    Reactivated

Quit  <--- Blame this one on ASCN... never should have joined that corp in the first place.  Too much like a job.  Sucked all the fun out of the game....

Reactivated, rejoiced when BoB attacked ASCN and rooted for BoB in that :)

    Still playing

Total time since I started playing EVE:  4.9 years

Total active time playing EVE on main character:  About 1.5 years now.

Pretty much normal to not buy it the first time around.  14 days isn't really enough to get people hooked.

To fully understand this game You need too look at the whole picture

all these alliances fighting each other over the vast number of star systems and rich regions of space

at start you will probably stick to missions etc but dont get discouraged becose its just the beggining - whole new lvl of game is when you start you fun in 0.0 systems and politics (no all like it , but its good to atleast know who rulles where)

    have fun

EVE-Online was my first real MMORPG game .. if we count out games like America's Army, Battlefield 2 and 2142 and such games as I really really do not consider those games as a MMORPG.

However I did never really play the trial :-P I bought the game straight after lissening on a friend of mine (real life) who was chatting about the game almost every day for like a month... it sounded cool and so when I found a copy of this game in a magazine I had bought I installed it, bought the account and played.

Continued playing the game for like 3 years to that T20 incident where I felt that the only way I can vote with to make CCP do the right thing was with my wallet and did cancel both my accounts... ofcourse since I pretty much was alone about it then CCP would not really miss 30 dollars a month :-P

That was in March and my accounts still stay canceled and will do so probably forever... who knows really but I am too stuborn.

I still belive that EVE-Online is pretty much the best MMORPG game out there to play, since I quitted EVE I have been playing WoW while I wait for Age of Conan to start up ..

Makes sense to me...during the 14 day trial you will spend most of your time either running missions, or mining for the most part..which are really the more boring aspects of the game (esp at lower levels)

It gets far more fun when you start to get a few months of skills under your belt (and not just learning ones) and you join a corporation who can help you figure out what your real game goals are going to be.

High level miner...bringing home 50-100 million isk an hour?

Play as a pirate and be the scourge of Low-sec space

Join a 0.0 corporation and go to war to conquer new terriotory (or defend the space you already have)

Become an industrialist, making rare blue prints, or a trader, transporting goods around the galaxy....

Train your skills, outfit your ship with the best gear, and play one of many roles... tackler, special ops, electronic warfare, Carrier support or even one day fly a Titan....  so many choices you'll have and you can train for more than one.....

All of these are available to you, but not really during the first 14 days of the game.....

Let the anger go.... come back to EVE.... the T20 scandal is part of the dead past...and we've all moved on and are having a great time.  Many of the folks joining my corp right now are just like you.... they've got 30million plus in learning skills and left for the same reasons. but they're coming back and ready to help us reconquer the lost space that BOB and its allies managed to push us out of.....

No I can't, CCP have not done the proper things, one thing is to ban SirMolle because of his breach of EULA as they where quick to ban Kuguts for his break of the EULA while they both actually broke the same points in the EULA.

Also while I do notice that they have tried to do some stuff like creation of that new IA office I still belive they have not done a good job as that IA office is not very independent.

There is also this thing about they not deducting isk from BoB that the famous Tech 2 bpo's might have given BoB in the time these bpo's where in the corp.

Even not a symbolic amount of isk...

That and the fact that the more I read on the official forums I get the impression they have ALOT of lag and unschedule downtimes ... does not really make me want to come back either.

About the taking isk point, i dont think it would be right or possible to trace all the isk BoB generated from that BPO and then remove it. People would have sold sabres produced(i think it was), then bought, say some BS with that, they then went on to kill some people before they were lost. Are you really suggesting maybe, removing isk from the people who sold components, then giving them the components back, then returning the bs, though theyve been blown up, to their original owners, maybe even return the ones they shot?? Its absurd, and not possible to reverse.

I also don't ever remember SirMolle ever being accused of breaching the eula? And who even is Kuguts?

Evolution and most corp within BoB are communist type corporations that means... corp first, corp owns everything and members get from the corp.

That means the Corp is responsible not the members, so if members get something from the corp from those illgotten bpo's that is the corp's responsibility.

Even if they actually GOT something, it still have it's worth or potential worth.

Kugutsumen (not right written I know) was a hacker who got banned from EVE because of 2 breaks of EULA, 1) naming SirMolle and reveal his real life information on the official forums. and 2) costing CCP money (even that in reality that is T20's fault he started the shit).

SirMolle did take back he named Kugutsumen and revealed his real life information AND phonenumber to his job where he tried to get people to call Kuguts work and get him fired.

Unfortnatly Kuguts was/is working at his wife's company and his Wife is his boss sort of speaking.

CCP banned Kugutsumen while did not punish SirMolle... even if they only temp. banned SirMolle they permabanned Kugutsumen and that is a serious double standard on CCP's side.

I can say one more thing, I where attacked in low sec by pirates (BoB members) and they almost blew up my Freighter... me and my corpmates saved the freigher and they actually ran from a equal number of fighterpilots !!!! (and we where not PvP'ers) while I actually saved my freigher I had to pay like over 60 million in repairs.... !!!! Since this was a BoB corp do I know that the ammo they used came from illgotten BPO's ? no, quite possible to be honest... in other word those bpo's did cost me atleast 60 million (but my corp lost one battleship in a later engagement with same corp) is that right ? no I find that very suspect... ofcourse since I and my corp hardly ever where in 0.0 we did not often have run-ins with BoB but corps and alliances that where often in fights with BoB do... so those bpo's even if it is ammo do cost people isk... or atleast DID.

     EDIT:

I don't want to make this debate just another T20 scandal debate, these are the two main reasons to why I did quit... and I can't see CCP have done anything to correct these points, and to they do that is why I stay off the game and do not pay CCP any more in subs.

That is also why I would never touch another game where CCP have their hands on.

Its important to note certain things tho.

    - Kug workes in Taiwan [ i think ] where american extradition laws dont work becaus he is a convicted hacker.

    - Kug earned his EvE cash by hacking alliances and corp out of game servers for ingame information.

    - Kug released what he learnt accidently abut T20 on the main forums without consulting the moderators at all [which he should have done]. And in that post he posted personall details of severall CCP staff members withthe promise to keep on doing it every so often Thats why he didnt get a temp ban because he was basically blackmailing the game by threatening to reviel more personall info if he didnt get what he wanted.

    - Sir mole later responded by i belive hacking kug and posting his work phone number and alluding he worked in Taiwan to avoid prosecution. He got a temp ban for that and he didnt get  apermanent ban becaus he was not bringing CCP into disripute and also he was not blackmailing them.

    - T20 was guilty but CCP ahd some shoddy incorp disaplinary procedures and at the time he was the most seniour there so he got a rahter poor punishment.

    - In iceland it is against the law to punish someone twice for the same thing so later on when senior devs and managment got back from holiday and found out the full truth couldnt do more to him.

    - since the incident T20 has never been heard from in the forums again  [and no way is he welcome]

Now some amy disagree with the points ive posted here but these are the FACTs so take it as you will.

Now lets try and go back on topic now.....pls

Same deal with me. I did the 14 day trial for all of 7 days and found it incredible, but at the same time i felt waaaay in over my head. I've been jumping from game to game now and have decided to buy this one and give it another shot. The fantasy genre isn't doing it for me lately so I'm gonna try something different.

I just have one problem: on the 14 day trial I distinctly remember seeing a tutorial automatically pop up and lead me through the interface and how to mine and kill a ship, step by step, etc. When I created my character this time around there was no tutorial. How do I get that tutorial to pop up again? Reset tutorials in the options menu is already selected, and I think I should say that my original 14 day trial character is currently waiting to be "recycled" into protein-rich goo... about another 9 hours to go as of the writing of this post. Should I just wait til tomorrow and start a totally clean slate with no characters created?

Edit: NM :) Answered my own question. I just figured out the real tutorial doesn't begin until you've moved u're pod into u're first little ship and undocked. I thought it started upon first booting up u're new character's pod. My mistake. BTW: The game's already breathtaking.

This post scared me. It's almost a clone of myself. However, I ended up never doing this tutorial this time around because I couldn't figure out how to get it to start. Boo me.

The graphics upgrades are quite nice, and lots of great stuff is planned for the near future...such as the ability to walk your avitar around stations. It seems like alot of people are coming into the game and the begining areas are pretty busy.

Yeah, I played way back in December for the 14 day trial, and had a blast, but couldn't bring myself to subscribe.  Instead I dove into the vat of feces that is WoW, yet again.  Finally after 4 months, I couldn't hold my breath any longer, so I quit WoW.  Since then I'd been sort of floating around.  Played LOTRO a tad, but got bored quickly.  Beta'd for a few terrible Korean MMOs.  Then about a month ago I started another 14 day trial of EVE.  Took me all of two days to whip out the ol' credit card and make it official.

Until WAR comes out (or I get into the beta) EVE is my new home.
