"The biggest MMOG in the world is Lineage 2 from South Korea, with over 14 million registered gamers"
now quit braggin about wow's 9million.
Comments
I fail to see the issue here.
i'd like to point out '' registered'' and "active" is a big difference
Well first off: you do realize that everything you see on wikapedia is posted by people and the people tend to lie once and awhile.
secondly...whos bragging about WoWs 9 million people. most of the people in this forum dont even like WoW with most of these posts i see.
Please stop posting topics about how much "i hate WoW ZOMG!!!!!" its getting really old.
Since when does a person have to be informed before posting? Imagine if Blizzard posted their number of registered "players". That would mean just about anyone who's ever bought the game regardless if they're still playing.
the point of this post is there is none. i just wanted to let the wow people know that accounts on a game does not really matter nor does it need to be bragged about. dont worry about this and move on is the bottom line.
Think its you bud that needs to grow up.
Registered doesn't mean jack. We're talkin about all the bots, gold farmers, one shots, and various other useless players also. 14 million registered is a lot different than 14 million players. However, I will say that L2 probably has quite a few players, if I recall.. it's ranked very well globally.
Because everytime a WOW player gets into a discussion they always like to inform us they have 9 million users playing but simply forget that Lineage 2 has more. Quite honestly I don't care for either game but yeah thats the reason why I bet this guy posted this information.
But it's a fact that WoW has the greatest number of subscribers out of all the mmorpgs, as explained in various posts above... (You can argue that players don't know any better, because they haven't tasted any better gameplay, but you can't argue with factual statistics...)
However last time I checked L1 and L2 COMBINED have more subs than WoW. So the franchise is more popular
( Really, use a decent anology, next time. )
to the OP:
Those 14 million accounts are accounts created, not active subscribers. World of Warcraft counts current active subscribers.
Lineage 1 peaked at 4 million active accounts, and Lineage 2 never surpassed Lineage 1 at its peak.
Sorry mate but you failed.
WoW is the most popular p2p mmorpg of all time in every region of teh earth. That my friend,is a fact. Learn to live with it.
why do you try to instigate this even further? the bottom line is who cares its just numbers.
no 14 million subs doenst necessarily means 14 million subscribers simultaneously. it means most likely 14 million peoplehave purchased the game all together.

Think its you bud that needs to grow up.
agreed
Stop embarrasing yourself. Besides the fact that L2 has an estimated 1.5 million subscribers(which is very good), you are doing exactly what you claim others do. You are bragging and you just showed you apparantly don't know the different between active and registered accounts. Great job!
In the end, logic and reason always beat out fanboys.
Why the hell did you post this if you dont want people to talk about it. This is a forum thats what you do. Think about Rome. They had a forum and you think some guy went on the stage and said something and everyone just sat quitly. Dude your to funny man!
"secondly...whos bragging about WoWs 9 million people. most of the people in this forum dont even like WoW with most of these posts i see."
but yet you have a Blizzard icon as your avatar. hehehehehe
This kind of stuff really bugs me. Theres no telling how many active WoW players there really are. Most of the population of WoW is in Asia, and in the Asian countries the billing is not monthly, its based on how much time you actually spend playing the game.
Now, the question is, "Is Blizzard counting ALL of the Asian accounts as subscriptions? Even the ones who arn't being charged for play time?" Thats a good question. I personally suspect that they are. Having 9,000,000 active users playing beats the MMO in 2nd place by like 7,500,000! I personally don't believe that they really have that many active players.

No offense, but why do you act like this is such a big mystery? Blizzard has revealed their subscriber definition in every single press release.http://www.blizzard.com/press/070724.shtml
"World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees’ territories are defined along the same rules."
I'll point out the asian subscribtion part:
"Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers"
I think the reports for '08 Ford Truck sales should reflect and include ALL ford trucks ever sold!

Sorry for missing that. I really don't read Blizzard's press releases... I am not a WoW fan and don't pay much attention to the game.
